Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka

I had booked my room (and prepaid for the reservation in full) at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon two months prior to my arrival. Upon arriving at the Dhaka airport, I was informed by their representative tasked with picking me up that my booking had been cancelled the night before, and that I was going to be taken to the Six Senses Hotel, in a completely different part of the city, where they were putting me up instead. Apparently the Pan Pacific is a government-owned hotel, and since the Swiss president was in town, they needed more rooms and saw fit to cancel already existing and paid-for bookings. This was incredibly shocking and I found it totally unacceptable. I did not want to stay in a hotel I knew nothing about and did not choose to stay at, in a part of the city further away from where I needed to be. A proper hotel of international standard does not cancel a prepaid reservation one night before check-in, without even informing the guest. I had to demand to be taken to the Pan Pacific, because the representative at the airport was insisting on taking me to the alternative hotel. Once we got to the Pan Pacific, I was met with rudeness and indifference from the staff; I was effectively a paying guest who was being kicked out and refused a refund. One particularly grumpy older man from their reservations team even scolded me after I claimed nothing like this had ever happened to me before. I have never been treated like this by a hotel that claims to be a five-star property. This, in fact, seems to be a hotel run by government thugs. It took one whole week to receive a full refund. I had to work to get this refund, because the hotel's reservations team was being incredibly difficult, unhelpful and inefficient. This is not a properly run five-star hotel, but rather a dormitory used by its owner, the Bangladeshi government, to cater to its own needs. I remain shocked by my experience here.

As in the other hotels we stayed at in Bangladesh they do not quite live up to their star status. The staff were very good and helpful, the food was also good. The room was okay, the bed comfortable the bathroom tiny for a 5* hotel. The people running the hotels in Bangladesh should visit their neighbouring countries to see the excellence they have in some of their hotels and what the competition is like.

Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in February 2018 in connection with matters of personal interest. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Bangladeshis are known for their kind hospitality and this hotel is surely a testimony to that. I feel privileged that all my requests in connection with my stay have been met with kindness and respect. I had a sense of belonging and I felt as if I was in my own home! The total atmosphere is very friendly and accommodative. Beds, desks, in-room lightning, bathroom facilities are all perfect. These attributes with excellent quality of food have made me convinced that whenever I am in Dhaka I would be staying at this class hotel. A few minor points. The doors of the room didn't go into lock automatically. The security officials may have look at it. I would have liked to have better quality bathroom products such as Molton Brown etc, at least for the Pacific floor guests. Finally, I would strongly recommend travelers all around the globe to choose this hotel for whatever missions, private of business.

My family they love hotels My kids was so happy Everything was perfect From airport to the hotel Service was excellent Food was world class Security was granted I will recommend for family and friends Thank you

Lovely place but too costly (compare to such hotel price in developed countries where labour cost is much higher than in Bangladesh). To/From airport, hotel should have its' own transportation rather than low quality vehicles.

The reason you are staying here is only because of location. If you are ok then stay in different hotel. Anyway traffic jam in Dhaka is crazy so it will not be so much issue. I stayed here more than 10 times. But do not stay.

The hotel is situated at hot spot of shopping and near to all go to places ( mall, markets, dhaka college shoping center......) The breakfast, lunch and diner spread at this hotel is the finest I have seen ever and their staff are so so soooo cool, kind and always serving with a smile especially male staff at cafe bazar and a special thanks from me to MR LEO, MR SAYEED, MR YAMIN, MR AMIR and MR RAJU who was always there for guests needs with their lovely smile. Their pool is huge and has bar also in it and small pool for kids , their free WiFi is at great speed without forget the huge gym near to the pool. Thank you for all drivers who was always on time to pick up us from airport. Thank u for all security staff coz we never felt safe like at pan pacific sonargaon. Thanks To the good and professional reception staff male and female. Simply the best hotel and all vantage point places are just a 15-20 minutes taxi drive or tuktuk away. By the end very proud to try your hotel and be more then friend with a prifessional staff. Thank you everyone

Book hotel well in advance and do not count on being able to extend the stay I required once you are already in the hotel. The property is very popular and is either fully booked or overbooked regularly.

Wonderful experience from good service. My luggage was delay 2 days by flight. The hotel sent it back to me from the airport. They also arranged me a van to the airport when there was a big traffic jam and traffic control in this area.

The Hotel is one of the best in Dhaka. I stayed there several times in the last 8 years. Renovation and upgrading seems to be a continous Task, but not disturbing. The food is good and a good international selection. The trip to the Airport can take 30 minutes to two hours due to the traffic.
