CUstomer service and covid precautions. Really loved the environment and the people
I and my fiance came from United States to visit our family in Dhaka. We got married and decided to stay at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka for our wedding night. Although we mentioned several times that it was a special occasion, they gave us a terrible room. The air conditioner was out of order and when we complained, two men came in our room in the middle of the night to fix it. They are repairing the hotel and doing some noisy construction works in the building. They didn't notify us about this terrible noise while we were reserving the hotel online. They didn't even mention the noise when we called them to notify about our wedding night. We woke up very early due to the noise from the construction works right above our roof. Our room was vibrating and we were worried that the roof may fall down. We called the front desk and they said they will compensate for this noise with "free of charge" apples and bananas at the mini bar, which we found ridiculous. Then after a while they changed our room but the noise was still there. They are not notifying their guests about on-going noisy constructions before reservation. Moreover, they didn't reduce the price per night. I stayed in this hotel before and used to be decent. But this hotel is not a good hotel anymore. The quality of this hotel has been degraded largely over last two years. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. THERE ARE PLENTY OF BETTER OPTIONS IN DHAKA.
I was travelling in Dhaka for business between 28th of February and 4th of March. The first impression was not very good, at least not suitable for a 5 star hotel. The room, especially the bathroom had and steel has in this final day a strange unpleasent smell; maybe an odorant should resolve the problem. The TV set is old and small, more like for a 3 star hotel and furnitur is a bit old. Limes and towels smell and look like clean, but the limes especially are not very good quality and moreover look very used. Pan Pacific Sonargaon has pluses also: very nice and friendly personel starting with the door men and the security guys and ending with the waiters, receptionists, cleaning personel, everybody actualy. I cannot apreciate the rating for the position, because Dhaka is always very croudy and with a lot of traffic jams so most probably it depends on where do you want to go in Dhaka. Is arround 12 km far from the airport and this can take you between half an hour and two hours to get from there or there depending on the day and on the traffic. I had an unpleasent suprise regarding the extracharges at the hotel. Be aware that the hotel will apply an aditional 12.5% Service Charge and 15%VAT to your booked rate so consider a 27.5% margin. Overall rating of the hotel: Good; it would have been very good if this would have been a 4 star hotel.
I found the Pan Pacific hotel to be a welcome retreat to this weary traveler. The staff was extremely helpful and ready to assist in all ways. My only request for my next visit would be the addition of "coffee to-go" in the restaurants. Being an American, I am very accustomed to getting my coffee each morning in a take-away cup with lid and drinking it as I commute. I was disappointed to know that all coffee and tea is served only in the hotel glassware. I did not have time to sit and drink my coffee before departing for the airport. Please add coffee to go. Otherwise my stay was wonderful. Thank you.
Great Atmosphere and great place for meetings. Nice lobby. Hotel staff are eager to please and make your stay comfortable.
It was over all a great experience enjoying the hospitable, friendly and helpful staff. The ambience and food were fabulous.
