Ian Anderson's Caves Branch Adventure Co
5/5 Excellent
A beautiful and adventurous gem in the jungle
"Caves Branch is a beautiful place to stay, in the jungle surrounded by flowers, trees, and native birds. We (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed in one of the Jungle Suites, separated from other suites by trees; very private. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning and hear the birds singing, or listen to the distant sound of howler monkeys at night. There is a small botanical garden on-site, free kayaks that you can borrow to paddle on the river, and just walking the paths is lovely.
The foods was incredible. A breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, omelet station, and pastries/pancakes every morning, a different 3-course dinner every night. We have dietary restrictions (1 lactose intolerant person, 2 gluten intolerant people) and we had plenty to eat. Vegetarians also have options, and I think vegans would do ok as well, though with less variety. You'd only be really restricted if you have multiple requirements, e.g. vegan AND gluten free.
We did not do the tours the resort offers but heard great things about them from other guests.
The only thing I'll note is that it is a combination of luxurious and rustic, as noted on the Caves Branch home website (though not necessarily on Hotels.com). The cabanas have screen walls (with curtains all around that can be closed for privacy), and some large bugs did get inside. There is an AC unit directly over the queen bed that will cool the bed area but not the whole cabin (bc of the screen walls). We loved it but it's not for everyone. "
