LOVE Palms of Destin

We got married in Destin and continued our stay at the condo to enjoy what Destin has to offer. The Palms of Destin will now be our go to vacation spot. The resort has a WONDERFUL bistro. No, seriously we spent most of our time there! The pools were great. We didn’t get to play tennis but loved that option. It’s close to everything and of course the beaches are close and wonderful. The condo itself was a nice place to stay. It’s not 100% perfect in the sense that it has signs of “love” but it was still clean. Not a lot of storage space… or maybe that’s just us overpackers. RealJoy was very easy to communicate with and I appreciated their online portal of information. They are not flexible on check in and out times but I completely understand in this business. I respect the structure. Loved the parking garage and all the amenities that Palms of Destin had to offer. Our whole family stayed for the wedding and all of the condos were nice and close and it was so fun meeting everyone at the pool! Highly recommend for family vacation. Security frequently rounded which is comforting. Maybe it was the Destin vacation vibes, but everyone was so nice! P..S on game days the bistro has .45c wings and half off appetizers. Can’t forget the $10 pizza (must have). They also have a souvenir cups for $15 and then beer refills are $1. Told you the bistro was great ;)

Room review

The facility was outstanding, the room not so much. When my son took his first shower in guest bath we found that shower door was broke and would only close part way. By the looks of where it has been scraping it had been in this condition for awhile. Therefore, every time we took a shower, it flooded the bathroom floor. Also had no Internet. Contacted manager and they sent over someone to address both issues. Fixed internet and repair service was great. As for shower, the Maintenance man brought over a shower curtain because the door on the shower needed totally replaced. The shower curtain you brought over was too small, but we made do. I think it is totally unacceptable. That this unit was rented without shower door being replaced prior to rental I find totally unacceptable. There is no way that the folks that clean this unit didn’t notice that this door was broke after the previous renters checked out. Additionally, all the mattresses on the beds need replaced. They’re broken down and uncomfortable. I would have to say this made our stay the most uncomfortable from any of the Other issues. Also, the overall cleanliness of the unit could be improved.

Deception

The hotel was very nice, the pool was great. But the front desk lady very rude. At the beginning said that she didn't had a reservation for me even though I was giving a reservation # . Said that I needed to.call the people that I rented the room. At the end it was a mistake from the front desk because they had put us for July and not for June. And another thing I didn't like was that the pictures online said it had access to the beach and it wasn't true. So I will.say that don't put pictures that are not true and also train the front desk better. People are to serve and find the errors first and not blame the customer.

Spring Break

We came down for 3 nights on spring break and the kids absolutely loved it. The room was very nice and the pool was great. We will definitely use again if we come back to Destin.

Great place for a family!

The condo was a great place for our family to stay! Quiet and We loved how close it was to all the beach accesses and restaurants and never had to drive more than 15 minutes to get to any of our destinations. Although it had all that we needed, I think some things could be taken into consideration for future guests: I think they could add a few more kitchen items like a larger frying pan, baking sheet, tongs Etc. and maybe a few extra utensils so you don’t have to constantly be doing dishes on vacation. The guest bedroom worked out fine for our stay but it’s very small and because it has a trundle bed you cannot fully pull out the floor bed while you have the door shut to the living area or bathroom or you will not be able to open the doors which isn’t ideal for having young children. The master bed is very firm so keep in mind if you need a softer bed. Also I think they could add some mattress protective covers on the mattresses since you have people staying all the time to keep it a little more sanitary. Other than that it was a great stay and would recommend to those looking for a family vacation.

Dirty room not family friendly

Checked in to a room that had semen on sheets and pillows. Hairs all over beds, food smeared all over kitchen and tables. Smelled of cigarette smoke/ ashes still on tables. Last guest property still in bathrooms. Dog piss in hallway at front door. Piss in stair well. Checked out 2 days early without refund.

Great Stay, Could Have Been Better!

This property was exactly as it was advertised and right in the middle of finding things to do! There are plenty of beaches around and plenty of activities, so whether you’re with friends or family, this is a great place to stay. The resort was stunning and the on-site dining was a lot better than I was expecting. My only frustration was that the property was not as clean as I was hoping it would have been. A lot of the dishes had water stains, and it was clear that the floor hadn’t been swept or mopped between guests. Aside from that, great place and I’d recommend it to anyone else going to Destin!

Good experience

Condo is as advertised, we enjoyed the property. The only knock we would say is it could have been a bit cleaner. It would be nice to have cleaning products on site. Issue with the door but property manager had it fixed in a timely manner.

Family fun with a few hiccups

I’d like to say that we had a great stay at The Palms. The room was nice - nothing exceptional. The large pool was freezing. Only a very small pool and hot tub are heated. The Palms checked another family into our room, so it took a fairly long time for them to get the mix up cleared up. The front desk was not straight-forward with their mess up and I waited a good 15 minutes before I even knew what was going on…which felt like a lifetime after 15 hours in a van with 5 kids. Real Joy was REALLY accommodating and sent us $150 to reimburse us for dinner at the resort. The resort gave us $30 in vouchers - very nice as well. The room was comfortable, clean- not super updated. The kitchen was great to have. We cooked every day and almost every meal. The proximity of the room on the ground floor to the pools made it easy to bop back and forth. Loved that. We could have used a few more utensils and some non-stick pans. Scrubbing stainless is fine at home but it was tedious meal after meal. Small details, definitely. It also would have great to have some basics stocked - salt, pepper, etc. Most VRBOs have some sort of snack welcome packets, packets of coffee, tea etc. Again - small details that make a big difference. The bathrooms were decent - the master shower leaked out the side and we had to keep a towel shoved between the shower and toilet. The toilet didn’t flush well - plunged that bad boy quite a few times. The unit came with a couple rolls of TP, but for a place that sleeps 6 that will last you about a day. We had to buy paper towel, TP, soap etc. Not much was supplied that lasted more than a few days. The ice maker on the fridge did not work. Again - end of the world, no. Total nuisance- yes. It was reported to Real Joy but it wasn’t fixed in time for us to utilize it. The biggest let down was that the dryer didn’t work. We ran one load of clothes the day we got there (traveling clothes) and then it stopped working. At one point we ran out of towels because we washed a load and then realized the dryer was broken. Real Joy did bring us a fresh load of towels which was great. However, we packed with the intention of washing and rewearing some items so the kids had to wear dirty socks and long sleeved shirts. I did report the issue and was told someone would come out, however they didn’t. We were told they’d reimburse us for a trip to the laundromat- but really?! No thanks.

Needs some attention

Overall, this condo was nice for a short stay, but needs some attention for cleanliness. There was a dirty mop on the balcony, broken curtain in the master bedroom and the shower faucets did not look clean.

False advertising

The property was nice, pool area great. However VRBO has a picture that has a pier leading to the beach with a caption saying “beach access for the Palms of Destin.” This is completely false. They are no where near any beach access. VRBO only said that our advertisement said shuttle provided. It also said beach access. They offered me $50 for my troubles. I’m very disappointed. As for the property…nice, but I was on the 1st floor and there were 7 beer cans outside my balcony that despite my asking twice to have them picked up they never were. If you stay, just realize it’s no where near a beach.

Great stay

Condo was cozy and perfect for relaxing at night after long days of activities. Could have used a few more plates & utensils , but we just washed them a lot. The property is just a few minutes walk to the public beach (property does not have a beachfront). Get there early as it’s not a big area and fills up quickly. When we arrived (7pm) we were told we would not have access to any of the amenities because of a dispute between the owner and HOA. I text and called RealJoy and they had the issue resolved by the next afternoon so we could enjoy the beautiful pool area. Overall it was a great stay and I would use them again!

We had a great stay! The condo was big and we had plenty of space however the floor felt sandy and the sheets didn’t seem very clean. Also the pool was supposed to be heated but it was freezing!
