The walls were very thin. Room was next to the live entertainment and bar. Do not sleep due to the noise well after midnight. Could hear cars and semi trucks all through the night! Don’t stay here if you are a light sleeper.
Nice hotel in the course of renovation. Little worndown in areas. Our bathroom came with a hole in the wall.
Great historic hotel. Restaurant and bar were great. Town was just a short walk away.
The staff was friendly and attentive. The room was a bit cramped. The sink was not in the bathroom, it was in the bedroom (first time I have encountered that, but it is an old hotel). We did not see any elevator, so we used the stairs to go up one flight to our room The TV was a challenge to operate, as you had to select buttons on the TV as well as on the remote. We could not get the volume to work on the remote, so we had to get up to adjust it on the TV. It appears that the renovations/improvements are ongoing, so I expect that the facilities will improve over time. The mattress felt like it was old, as we tended to roll toward the center of the mattress during the night. If you are into socializing with other guests, there is a wonderful bar off the lobby, which attracts a lot of people in the evening. They just opened an "eatery", with dining outside on the patio and live music on Friday night. I can't comment on the food, as we did not eat there. We would probably stay there again just to see how it has improved. Overall, it seemed like a reasonable value.
It was a beautiful historic hotel. Few amenities. Coffee only in lobby in am. Sushi bowl restaurant only food available. Small quaint bar usually exclusive crowd. Rooms were nice, could have been cleaner. Molding and doors very dusty. Limited hot water, just warm. No phones but that was ok. Must request housekeeping. Owner and caretaker very friendly but not onsite at night. I did enjoy my stay and walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants.
Unique, classic property with an on site sushi restaurant.
Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and clean room
Cute, funky hotel with a great store and restaurant attached. The staff is wonderful. It's nice to drink a glass of wine in the lobby. On the downside, the rooms aren't acoustically insulated so you hear your neighbors and they can hear you. Also, the overhead fan was very dirty. Those two things put a damper on the romance.
No hot water, staff said to let it run, which we did for 5 minutes, still cold. Lots of road noise.
Great little hotel with an outstanding sushi restaurant inside. Highly recommended.
If you love old houses and enjoy living in one, you should be very happy here. Things I liked: The property is kept up very well. The owner is SUPER NICE, the front desk staff is nice too, and they went out of their way to ensure my mother was not cold, even providing a room heater (in SUMMER!). I love the little sinks in each room (we had the adjoining rooms). The bathroom was super clean! The beds were comfy. The little courtyard in back is lovely. There is a lot to love in Deland and they will point you to whatever your interests or needs are. Things I think could be improved: the TV/wine room is kept very cold. I wish there was more comfortable furniture on the front porch, such as rocking chairs, and smokers were kept to the corner of the porch that borders the cross street. The rooms on the front (streetside) maybe the head of the beds should be oriented against the non-window wall so the traffic does not disturb sleep. I just put the pillow on the other end and it was fine. Unfortunately the sushi restaurant was closed while we were there, that was a fluke having nothing to do with the hotel itself. Communication regarding cleaning of rooms was not good. The owner and the cleaning person seem to have differing concepts of how often room cleaning is done. All in all it was very enjoyable, with the care they take with the building and the people being the highlights. A very lovely place, unique and enjoyable.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. I could walk to the stadium.
Victorian style type hotel. Sushi bar and cute stores inside. Free glass of wine. Such a cute and vintage decorated place
Shower did not work. The faucet to switch to the shower broke and only bath controls were available.
Beautifully restored hotel, with wonderful staff and lots of complementary items (wine, coffee, breakfast, etc). The suites are clean and spacious, and the downstairs living spaces are welcoming and invite you in. Having a restaurant connected is convenient and delicious, it is also very close to downtown so you are close to everything you could want or need. We will be back soon!
We stayed in the DeLand Hotel for two nights and wish it were longer. The hotel is cozy and has an incredible 20's vibe that makes you feel like you've traveled back in time. The hotel staff is incredibly helpful and kind. If you like Sushi, there is an actual sushi restaurant downstairs IN the hotel! The rooms are wonderfully decorated and the beds are like clouds. I have already recommended this place to five of my coworkers. It's very close to Downtown DeLand where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. You could even walk. We went in the summer when it was 98 degrees outside... So walking was not an option for me. Lol. I loved it so much that I actually think I may choose DeLand over St. Augustine which is my usual "weekend away" go-to place.
ended up cancelling reservation , did not stay so can't rate hotel thanks

Thank you for your feedback. All sinks were located in the rooms in 1925 and have remained that way for authenticity. We are glad you had a positive experience with our staff - please contact the front desk about any TV issues and they will be happy to help.
