We were given several options for our Darwin stop over; Adina Vibe being one of them. A few of our friends said Vibe was like many others on the esplanade and good value. We booked directly with Adina reservations and looked forward to our stay. As accommodation, its 3-4 star. So, why one star? Simply, the check-in experience was by far the worst I have experienced in 20+ years travelling. The team member serving us (S******a) was disinterested, dismissive, uninterested and bordering on rude. Even my wife commented on the how rude S******a was and my wife is the most forgiving/understanding person I know. To summarise, never did this person smile, ask how we were, welcome us, inform us of activities to do, as how we were or wish us a relaxing stay. Interaction went like this. Me: Hi there, how are you, we are here to check-in Rudeness: Name? (really, nothing more, hello, how are you, welcome) Me: Surname Rudeness: Spell that Me: Spelt surname Rudeness: First name (still no please, hello, how are you) Me: Gave first name Rudeness: SILENCE Rudeness: Can’t find your name, what is first name again Me: Gave first name - 30 second wait Rudeness: What was first name again Me: Gave again - 15 seconds wait Rudeness: Sorry, what was first name again Me: Gave for third time (REALLY, 3 TIMES, ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?) Me: Having a bad day (WITH CHEEKY SMILE AND TRYING TO ENGAGE HER) Rudeness: I’m busy (REALLY, THAT IS YOUR RESPONSE. FOR GOD SAKE, SMILE WOMEN) Rudeness: Can’t find your booking. When did you book? Me: About 1 hour ago Rudeness: Was it with 3rd Party? (WHY DOES THAT MATTER) Me: No, booked directly with your reservations team Rudeness: Adina or Vibe? (WHAT IS DIFFERENCE?) Me: Don’t know, rang the number on your website and spoke with reservations. Rudeness: Hang on - 1 minute later she returns Me: Everything OK? Rudeness: SILENCE Wife: Everything OK? Rudeness: SILENCE Me again: Everything OK? Rudeness: Your room isn’t ready Me: I spoke to reservations and they said it was ready. Could you call housekeeping to check? Rudeness: BIG SIGH Rudeness duty manager: Give house keeping a call to see if room is ready (AM SURE DUTY MANAGER COULD SEE THSI WAS NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE) Rudeness: BIGGER SIGH. TURNS OUT, ROOM IS READY AS RESERVATIONS HAD COMMUNICATED WHEN I BOOKED) Rudeness: Which room are you staying in? (WE HAD REQUESTED TWIN ROOM) Me: How do I know? Haven’t checked in yet and I’m in one room (with wife) and kids in the other and why does it matter which room? Rudeness: Oh, of course, you have kids. (STILL NO SMILE, INTERACTION OR BANTER) - By this time, a colleague (maybe duty manager) was assisting her as it was obvious this was turning into a terrible experience Rudeness: Here are your key cards. (NOTHING MORE) Me to another team member: Hi there, we have campervan, do you know where we can park? Team member: The Wharf (OK, I’VE JUST ARRIVED SO A LITTLE MORE WOULD BE NICE) Me: Thanks, but just arrived and don’t know where the free wharf parking is Team member: Its behind us Me: Ok, but how do I exactly get there? Team member: Gave instructions Summarising, I haven’t written the entire exchange above but you get the gist. It is the first time in 20+ years I’ve proactively complained and shocked that the Adina Vibe is that desperate for staff. Giles (Adina/Vibe GM) did call me however I was out with family at attraction unable to connect with him before we left. Strangely, the duty manager thanked me (when we checked out) for meeting with them to work through the dreadful experience. For the record, we didn’t meet with anyone. Anyhow, as an experience goes, it wasn’t good for us. Two nights and $880 later, we now have a story to tell and am sure that Adina/Vibe’s marketing department will cringe when they read this review. Not only are we detractors, we are proactive detractors and have already relayed our story to many others. Weirdly, we noticed other team members during our stay who were courteous, friendly, proactive and welcoming. We know everyone has a bad day, but S******A, can I suggest another line of work. As mentioned, accommodation isn’t that bad, clean and close to CBD but we won’t be back. Giles, thanks for reaching out on this matter. Very proactive but doesn’t rectify the experience.
Food very ordinary. Dinner service terrible. Rooms were very nice and location is great. Front desk staff were helpful. A good base for a couple or family holiday with the wave pool out the front. Would go again but not eat there again
Very disappointed with the service and the cleanliness of room, location of the hotel is the only thing that would make us go back, most staff not really interested, couldn't reach reception or room service via phone, issues getting from car park to hotel.
Went to Darwin for Business -The Adina Apartment Hotel/Vibe made me feel like I had arrived on a holiday. (it had that kind of feel). Staff were most welcoming and helpful, room was super. WOuldn't look anywhere else to stay in Darwin.
Location perfect for our stay in the 'Top End'. Within walking distance of city centre, Stokes Hill Wharf, WW2 exhibition and the fabulous Wave Pool! Big Bus tour right past the door. Close to cafes for breakfast and dinner.
Its all about the location.. the waterfront is a lovely spot to relax.. a tad cooler then town. the rooms are ok. Clean and tidy Pool area is ok too. The staff are not the sharpest and could do with some general customers serivce training...
Stayed for 2 days before going on a Kakadu Tour, returning for another night 3 days later. The 2 room apartment we stayed was a good size and well kitted out. The attention to detail was a disappointment, with us having to go to reception for replenishment of tea and coffee because housekeeping had not done it, this happened on both stays. The food in the Resturant was good, but there was no atmosphere (we were the only people in there) and the decoration and furnishings are very bland. However good location in central Darwin and would stay again.
Adina Apartment Hotel shares the same site with Vibe Hotel which is a little confusing. I originally booked a room at Vibe but was offered an upgrade to Adina Apartments for a small fee which I accepted. So I was expecting an apartment but really what I got was an ordinary hotel room. There was a small kitchenette but it didn't have any facilities or equipment to prepare meals. For an 8 night stay I would have preferred a proper apartment... However, the room was nice and it had a small balcony with good views of the waterfront, convention centre and wave pool. The location is the best feature of this hotel. It is right on the waterfront, just a short stroll to swimming areas and some great restaurants. It is also just a short walk via an elevator and the skybridge to the city centre. There is a large multistorey carpark adjoining the hotel with plenty of parking.
Three nights here in May 2017 for work. Arrived 1.5 hrs before 2pm checkin but room was ready so checked in right away. 👍 One bedroom apartment with balcony overlooking waterfront park, lagoon and harbour. Great size room. Big bathroom. Big bedroom. Good size kitchen certainly capable of self catering option for longer stays. 👍 Breakfast is excellent in Curve on the ground floor overlooking the park and water. Room service requests were very fast. Overall a very positive experience. Recommend for business, holiday or family stays.
Lovely facility; clean and tidy and very friendly staff that are always willing to help how they can. Restaurant and pool facilities are lovely and would recommend a stay here to anyone visiting for sure.
