It’s everything you would expect a Hyatt to be, anywhere in the world. And oftentimes that consistency is a great thing. After a week of traveling through remote villages in Tanzania, it was heavenly to meet the friendly staff, clean room, great breakfast. The pool looks great but I did not have time to enjoy.
Just a brilliant getaway, and something to consider once a month the fact we live in Dar and still felt we were away from home. Was just Brilliant. Highly recommended for short break from daily hassle and bustle of DSM.
I stayed here for just over 24 hours while between legs of a business trip, and this hotel delivered exactly what an otherwise exhausted traveler needed. I checked in around 3 pm, and after a week in a place with limited hot water I took a much needed long shower. While in there, I didn't hear the phone go off from the front desk. It turned out the guest who had stayed in the room the night before had left something in the safe and they needed to get back in. I heard a knock on the door as I exited the shower and I answered the door while wearing a towel. The hotel staff felt so bad for this that they sent up a complimentary fruit platter, and then gave me free late checkout the next evening (my flight out of Dar wasn't until 11:30 pm). Neither of these was expected, but both were much appreciated. The room itself was quite large and clean. The bed was particularly nice. The WiFi worked very well. And the bathroom was clean, and the water pressure in the shower was perfect. The breakfast was outstanding, some of the best food I've had in Tanzania. The rest of the hotel looked quite nice, but I didn't have enough time to fully experience the other perks. The location is good, and central to Dar. The hotel is about a 30-40 minute drive from the airport without traffic. Do leave plenty of time if you have a flight during or near rush hour, however, as I understand the traffic then can be quite bad. Overall, I would definitely stay at this hotel again for the service and consideration they have shown, as well as for the comfort of the rooms and the breakfast. And if I ever do go back, I hope to be able to check out some of the other perks of the hotel as well.
As we missed our domestic flight to our safari destination ( Rufiji River Camp ) we had to spend the night in Tanzania's capital. To be honest, I had very little expectations and thought the hotel might match the condition of the roads and the taxi we were in. How wrong was I. The hotel is on the creek side, and previously was built as a Kempinski. A very comfortable, zen like arrival and lobby. Smiling people from porter to receptionists and so on. A quick check in and a reference to the rooftop bar... that was the second time, as several crew members of our EK flight said same. The room was contemporary, light and smart. Good amenities and goose down pillows. And yes, level 8 is a massive indoor/outdoor space overlooking the city on the water. A deejay playing funky tunes, assertive waiters, cold beers, crafted cocktails and reasonable prices. The restaurant was not bad as well. We only stayed one night, but we'd be back if the opportunity arises.
Very convenient location with grand view of the harbor. Rooms and restaurants have been refurbished. Polite and attentive staff. Palm restaurant serves local, European, and Indian food. Regency Club provides a relaxing evening opportunity. Try for sea facing rooms to maximize pleasure of staying at Kilimanjaro.
Out strolling very hot and called in for a beer in the flame tree bar. Sat outside by the water feature it was very tranquil. Kilimanjaro beer was excellent. Fully recovered we set off. All staff lovey. Will go again
Stayed one night after visiting Zanzibar. 5 minutes walk from ferry terminal. Despite not encouraging to walk outside the hotel, inside the hotel was nice and peaceful. Room is nice with Hyatt standard, but nothing wow. Swimming pool deck was under renovation and many people was in a small pool, didn't want to use it. Bell desk staff and reception staff were all helpful and friendly. Nice garden cafe on a ground floor. They have Casino but nothing appealing. This hotel is a nice hotel but rather business hotel feeling. After staying at a resort in Zanzibar, I felt the atmosphere was very different.
The rooms are nice spacious and clean. I love it. The cleanliness you can feel it. The room service was excellent. Food came as promised.I like this hotel is because it is in the city and you can walk anywhere safely. The downtown shops and street vendors are the bet place to shop. Shopping by the street vendors you can find good bargains and local arts. There many easy access to ATM machines and banks.
We went for the Sunday brunch.Every dish we tried was fantastic. And a special thanks to the lady who made the bread and butter pudding.Probably one of the best puddings I have ever eaten.we did not book but still got a e really good seat. From the time we walked in the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The band who were playing were great. We will definitely go again. Keep up the good work Toby and Lesley
