Back for probably 7th or 8th stay. Great breakfast on exec floor. They will make to order eggs or omelette. Fresh coffee. Happy hour after 5:30. Service has always been very good. Was comp'd an upgrade to suite which was very big. Convenient to walk to nearby restaurants.
First visit to Mainland China to spend holiday with my Dalian girlfriend. Based on recommendations booked Shangri La for 16 days. We were not disappointed. Check in was smooth and efficient and while I found few outside the hotel spoke English the hotel staff was fluent for the most part. The room was well appointed, quiet, comfortable, and with the expected luxury amenities. While we did not take advantage of the on site restaurants, we enjoyed drinks and light meals in "The Swing" bar and coffee and desserts in the Lobby Lounge (where light live music played each evening). The wait staff were quite attentive too. The characteristics of a Five Star Hotel were exemplified. Evening bed turn down, fresh fruit to the room each day, and daily replenishment of toiletries. Television had a wide range of Chinese, Asian, European, and American channels including HBO. WiFi was strong but be aware that many common USA sites are blocked. That was not an issue as there are workarounds. The indoor pool is co-located with the health & fitness center. When we visited the pool was set up for lap swimming. Unsure if this is a daylong policy or a factor of when we went. In summary we had no real complaints and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If I had any suggestion it would be to include one or more English speaking newspapers in the Lobby Lounge. The English version of China Daily was only available infrequently. Exceptional hotel and we will return.
This hotel was typical of the Shangri-La chain. Room size was fine but older decor. Everything was clean and staff was friendly. The lounge was nice for drinks but closed too early. Our stay was brief so we could not try the breakfast.
I was in Dalian at the end of April and stayed at the Shangri-La. What a beautiful hotel and the service was impeccable. Rooms very complete with every thing you need and in house room service was quick and very nice. The nights were impressive with the light entering the hotel looking like something out of a American movie. Glamor, Elegance and inviting. Well done. See you again......and again....
I have been staying in the Shangri-La Dalian two times in the last six months for business reasons. Both stays have been satisfying. The lobby with the integrated lounge bar is very spacious with a nice atmosphere. The reception is also spacious enough with quick and friendly service from the staff. Everyone, from the doorman to reception to staff at breakfast and other restaurants very friendly with quick service. Check in was at both times fast and efficient. The standard rooms are a bit smallish. The interior is what you expect though. Bathroom size is good. Everything very clean and neat. The breakfast restaurant serves food for all tastes. One can have traditional Chinese breakfast, but also other Asian types of food as well Western style. Good quality there. The atmosphere of the breakfast restaurant is not the best though, a bit noisy and has the charm of a train station restaurant. The lobby lounge is a good place to have a tea or coffee in the afternoon, or a drink in the evening. There's live music on some evenings. So if you want to talk to people, you should rather sit away from the stage. For sure not the cheapest hotel in town, but you get what you can expect for that price, and the quality is high.
If you have ever been to a Shangri-La hotel then you know the iconic sent when you walk into the hotel. This smell is warm and welcoming making you feel as if you have just arrived home. The hotel is simple elegance with nothing flashing or grand just warm and welcoming. The rooms are big and clean with free wifi for hotel guest.
The hotel is as good as ever (it has been a while since i stayed), the executive lounge as always is staffed with brilliant people. (i actually stayed at Shangrila Beijing this trip too and while the service there was good, it wasn't comparable to Shangrila Dalian). The highlight is Swing bar... they have 2 simulators for driving range (RMB110/hr) and a separate simulator for the course (RMB150/hr). It was great fun (although the clubs were not in great shape), beginners to better players could play and have an evening round of golf.
Excellent location. Well equipped large rooms. Excellent room service. Food choice on the menu is good. Love the Swing Bar with its golf driving range. Good fun with friends in the evening after work.
We stayed there for 9 nights from 3.04.2017 to 12.04.2017 The staff manager was always so helpful. The rooms are larger than you would expect. Very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is in a fabulous location, with walking distance to many places (shop, dine, hang out in...). It has a great restaurant in the lobby that served a wonderful breakfast. Absolutely delicious, and the waitresses were courteous. Shangri-La has it all!!! And especially the staff manager was super helpful, friendly, attentive and made our stay as comfortable as possible. I can't thank her enough!!!
They've been prepared for my room perfactly with additional amenities before arrived to the hotel. further very convenienced that in-room check in service. I would say that hotel served to me with precious time at Dalian trip.
