I have to give many thanks for this hotel for all their assistance. My daughter begin to fall ill just upon our arrival. Assuming it was altitude sickness, the hotel gladly provided oxygen treatment and coca tea to help treat the common sickness. As her sickness started to get worse, and I began to get more worried, the hotel assisted me with arrangement for a medical doctor to come to our hotel room to see my daughter. She was later diagnosed with Salmonella. During our stay, while I nursed my daughter back to health, they were very accommodating. Even having soup sent to our hotel room since her diet was restricted and I lacked in communicating with near by restaurants do to not being able to speak Spanish. Thank you for all your help!!
In Cusco location is most important! If you like peace and quiet, convenience, and accessibility to sights then Casa Andina Standard Cusco San Blas has it all. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help and accommodate us. The hot breakfast was the best we had in Peru and the room was most comfortable. For independent travelers in their senior years...we lucked out with this hotel.
Excellent helpful staff - especially Virgilio on the reception - could not have been more helpful. In fact all the staff did their utmost to please the guests. Organised custom made trips for me and gave good advice regarding the best restaurants and cafes.
This was our second visit to this hotel, and this trip didn't measure up to the previous visit, three years ago. The rooms were the same, the lobby was the same and the breakfast room was the same, but everything seemed more... worn. It's a very pretty hotel, with a lovely courtyard and a charming breakfast room. We stayed one night before our journey to Machu Picchu and two nights after. The staff in the office was very helpful to keep our bags / suitcases in their storage room during that time. The bell boys were very helpful in bringing bags to and from the rooms, especially considering all the stairs and our difficultly acclimating to the altitude. The location on this hotel is very nice, but there is always a walk uphill after dinner to get back, though a taxi ride from the main square only cost about 5 sol (which is about $1.50 US). At first it felt silly to get a taxi because we were so close, but between the hill and the altitude, we ended up taking taxis a few times. The staff at the front desk was also very helpful in arranging taxis and airport pick up and drop off's for us. They also made great recommendations on where to get the best chicken (pollo la brasa) in town - - and i'm sure they were right, it was great. All in all, I would stay here again. The rooms feel a bit aged and worn. It took a long time to get hot water one night. But it looks like they are updating some rooms and generally giving the place a facelift. The hotel is built on a hill and there are lots of stairs (down and up) to get to the rooms from the lobby.
The hotel is placed in a perfect location, in the very nice quarter of San Blas, in Cusco. It provides a nice view over the city. The staff proved friendliness and very good efficiency towards us. The quality of the room is good.
3 star hotel in a very good location. Small lobby area, but veyr nice personnel. The breakfast room is small and is too small to serve a full hotel. This means waiting time for tables at breakfast. The rooms are good size with standard bathrooms. A majority of the rooms face the inner court yards. These have strange window arrangements leading to heavy drafts coming through. These rooms can therefore be very cold during the winter time.
We stayed here at the end of our Peru trip after several treks, homestays, and a few less than desirable hotels. It was WONDERFUL. The rooms were quiet, clean, and comfortable. The views from our rooms (we had two different ones--late reservations on our part) were spectacular. There was always tea available in the lobby, which was much appreciated by us. The staff, just as at the Casa Andina in Puno where we stayed, was amazing. Breakfast was great, too!
This was a lovely hotel to stay at. We loved the location as it was only a 15 min walk from the cathedral and main square but away from all the hustle and bustle. There is a slight uphill to get to the hotel but we actually enjoyed doing it every day. The staff is great and the cocoa tea in the lobby is a nice touch! They were amazing and let us store our bags overnight while we went up to Machu Picchu and let us hang around in the common areas after we checked out as we were waiting for a night bus. The outside courtyard is a fantastic addition to the hotel. Would definitely stay here again :)
Great Hotel, I just wish the cleaning staff would have turned in the t-shirt I left on the bed by mistake. At all times the front desk staff was wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The only thing that made me sad was after check out. By accident I had left a shirt of mine on the bed in our room, we returned to the hotel just a few hours later I asked if it had bee turned in by the staff, the front desk checked a book and there was no mention of it. I know it is just a shirt but I know exactly where it was left and I was very disappointed that it was not turned in.
We stayed here only for one night, and the overall impression was not good. The bathroom was not in good conditions, the toilett did not flush all the times and the door frame and door had no paint in some areas. The buffet breakfast was included on the price, but they where not able to prepare a couple of pancakes.
