This place has everything...Excellent pool and leisure facilities, comfortable and well thought out rooms, great restaurants with exceptional food, and a team of staff to help you with anything you need. We have been several times and keep returning and it just keeps getting better and better! They are currently making some more improvements and building work is ongoing and when we visited this time we were a little apprehensive about this...no need at all to be worried. Considerate contractors and once we were settled we barely noticed them except passing in the corridor with a friendly “good morning”! As the weather was not particularly good during this visit we made full use of the facilities...well equipped gym, large pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi everything you could possibly wish for! The outside jacuzzi which we used to enjoy has disappointingly been removed...temporarily. We asked if the were putting it back to be told that they were building more and an external pool ! Can’t wait for these additions. Extremely enjoyable stay and can’t recommend enough. Many thanks, Sinclair and Laura Hesketh
Stayed for one night on business, really easy to find located on the lake, spa is gorgeous, however a wee bit of construction going on at the hotel currently, didn’t hear a noise tho! Hotel is beautiful, rooms spacious, very comfy beds and great toiletries! Food was delicious and they was very accommodating with the menu! Would definitely recommended and visit again!
Beware, this is a long review, I loved this place! Thank you for my lovely birthday card & delicious chocolates, a lovely surprise. Our room was beautiful, the level of attention to detail meant we kept coming across wonderful, thoughtful surprises throughout the weekend, whether it was the quality of the toiletries in the bathroom, (usually these are so bland I ignore them), the lovely choice of tea, coffee and gingerbread on our tea tray, the fact that during the turn down service they switched on the ‘candle’ in our fireplace to give a cosy glow. The bed.... wow, the MOST comfortable hotel bed ever, deep cushioned mattress, luxurious thick duvet, the most sumptuous pillows and wonderful velvet cushions that you literally sank into... that coupled with the view over the lake... Bliss! The bathroom was sparkling clean, if a little compact, but again the quality was superb, plenty of wardrobe space and a decent quality hairdryer not the usual small slow version found in hotels. The hotel was so cosy, everywhere was fabulously warm which was very welcome after a cold day walking. The lounge and bar were great places to relax and the spa was impressively modern and luxurious. Breakfast choices were great and there was a lovely buzz to the dining room. Service everywhere was friendly and swift, (we found everyone in the area at all the places we visited to be warm and friendly). My only area for improvement was in the restaurants for dinner. We tried both, the new Blue Smoke restaurant looks stunning and service was excellent, personally I found the food didn’t quite match the price, I get frustrated when you pay £30 for a main course and extra for any kind of side whatsoever. In the main dining room food was well priced but not quite up to par, fondant potatoes were under cooked & belly pork a little dry. I think they had a wedding running over the weekend so maybe that added strain to the kitchen. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel, there are so many fabulous restaurants in the area to try as well.
We had a lovely girls' weekend away. The staff were all friendly and service was excellent. A couple of hours in the spa after a day out walking was lovely. We didn't have dinner in the hotel but breakfast was fantastic. The only downside was that whilst our bedroom was fine, the bathroom was a bit tired. Perfectly clean, with fluffy towels, robes and nice toiletries but rather small and could do with a renovation.
Spent a couple of days here, and thoroughly enjoyed it, staff were excellent and food from both restaurants in the hotel were really nice. Problem we encountered with heating in our room on the first evening was smoothly and competently dealt with by staff. Would certainly go back here again.
I have been to this resort on several occasions and this latest trip - for my partner’s 30th birthday - surpassed my already high expectations. The staff are fantastic; friendly and helpful. We had particularly great service from Steph on Reception, Kristian in the Bar and the Room Service staff. The location is stunning and the Watersports Centre a great addition. There’s something to do for everyone. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a luxurious spa treatment in The Snug, which I certainly intend to repeat during my next visit:) This is my favourite hotel in England by a mile and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit special. A taste of luxury in a beautiful setting.
I had a fantastic stay at Low Wood at the beginning of November. Firstly the staff are so attentive and I had a fabulous stay, 2 nights of pure bliss and as a solo traveller this is definitely what I needed. There is work going on at the hotel, (soon to be finished) but please do not let that put you off, seriously this did not effect my stay in any way. The bedroom was lovely, really cosy and quiet, a little on the small side probably for some, but suitable for 2 and it fit my needs perfectly. The food was outstanding and I dined in both the Windermere Restaurant and the brand new Blue Smoke restaurant during my stay. Truly special food and amazing service on both occasions, I was really impressed. I also took afternoon tea in the lounge bar and this was enjoyable, nothing was too much for the staff here at Low Wood. On my final morning I decided to have some treatments at the newly refurbished Snug, these were amazing and totally worth the extra hour I stayed on. If you love treating yourself, this is the place to be!
We visited at the beginning of November for a conference and were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived. Well appointed room with everything that you could wish for, even a gift bag of toiletries. The conference dinner was delicious, the lamb was perfect. After a very good nights sleep we had a very tasty breakfast with an equally good lunch a few hours later. The staff were all excellent and a credit to the hotel. The Berry family have got it just right. We hope to be back soon but for a relaxing time with no timetable! Many thanks to everyone.
Stayed for my husbands birthday. OMG...what a beautiful hotel. We had a willow room. There are tea and coffee facilities. Proper coffee with a cafetière. Also a mix of different teas and water. Biscuits and local gingerbread are also with your coffee and tea facilities. You get robes and slippers in the wardrobe. Lots of lovely toiletries in the bathroom. We had a lovely afternoon tea with champagne when we arrived. The scones had just come out of the oven. We had dinner in the new blue smoke restaurant. Couldn't fault the food at all. The wine is priced £26 upwards, per bottle. We had 2 courses with wine and port £97. We used the swimming pool and jacuzzi. The health club is spotless and looks fabulous. The whole hotel is spotless and looks fabulous. We had breakfast and I thought it was really nice. A full assortment from full English, pastries and restaurant specific. I had poached eggs with smoked salmon. Scrumptious. Now the staff, an absolute credit to the hotel. Each member of staff was charming and really friendly. We felt pampered at all times. We will be returning for another visit very soon. Well done low wood bay and thank you for a wonderful experience.
We had the rare opportunity for a night away for our anniversary, with dinner reservations at Gilpin spice we wanted to stay close by but somewhere with a pool. We had a wonderful relax in the steam & sauna. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, we had a fantastic sleep. Breakfast was lovely, with a relaxing read of the newspaper & a second pot of coffee. The refurb is looking great & we will return.
