We had two rooms, both as requested (first floor both, handicap access one). The check in was quick and painless. Rooms were clean, quiet, and all the appliances worked quietly and efficiently. We met with some local friends in the lobby, which was more like a living room at a home. The pool is located away from the rooms, so there's no intrusive noise or humidity in the room area. The breakfast was good, with the usual waffle makers, juice, cereal, and rolls/toasters, along with some eggs and sausage. Not extraordinary but good. Coffee is always available in the lobby, and the containers were kept full. I was amused by the availability of outlets in the parking lot for plugging in your vehicle block heaters in the winter - not something you see everywhere! We did not need them, but we visited in July - even in Minnesota that is summer!
We planned a motorcycle ride up tp Crookston but on our way up there we ran in to some rain. So we stopped for the night and I called them and said we weren't going to make it that night and I just want them to know if they needed the room to give it to someone else. We finally made it the next morming and they said they would comp. us for the night before. Alot of places wouldn't do that and I so resrect them for doing that. All in all the room was very big, clean dam near perfect. If and when I go back up there I'll be staying there for sure.
We were quite surprised how nice this little Inn was. It's a small Inn in a small town so you wouldn't think to expect much but we were wrong. The staff were friendly and the rooms very nice and very clean. I had stayed at the Crookston Inn on a previous visit and I have to say that the AmericInn is much nicer. They serve a continental breakfast but no restaurant. The breakfast wasn't all that great but I wasn't there for breakfast so it was a bonus as far as I was concerned. If I were ever in Crookston again I would definitely stay here. There's a McDonald's next door, Walmart and Dollar Tree across the street and a grocery store down the road.
One positive note is that the staff was freindly. However the rooms and lobby needs some TLC. Breakfast won't knock your socks off, eggs were really cold (like just pulled out of the fridge). Maybe look into some new selections for eggs as they were like powdered rubber. Walls are thin and guests were slamming their doors with their safety latches swung open at 7am and you could here the doors banging back and forth off the latch waking everyone up. This really sucked since I had 2 kids that played 6 basketball games and last one getting done at 9:30pm so they were tired and were woken up at 7am by the banging doors and guests yelling in the hallways! I would recommend driving the extra 20 minutes and stay in Grand Forks as paying $130 in Crookston is not worth it when you can pay $30-$40 less in Grand Forks and get a much better hotel.
This was our umpteenth trip to Crookston. Each time I look for the hotel that provides the best value for our dollars, and this one wins every time. Clean, quiet, and comfortable. Friendly, competent staff. Never a disappointment, and if something isn't quite right they address it immediately and with a smile.
I have stayed here in the past. No reason to go anywhere else when in town. Great staff Angie is always very helpful. The breakfast is always good. Rooms are clean and the parking lot is very well lit.
Nice hotel. Clean and quiet. Rooms were typical 2 queen bed rooms with flat screen TV, table and chairs The only problem we had was in one of the rooms the heater, air conditioning unit installed under the window made a lot of noise when it turned on and was running. We looked at it and it looked like the grate was busted or not in the correct position. Other than that, the breakfast was so-so with the usual waffle maker, bagels, yogurt and there was a small heating tray that had sausage and scrambled eggs in it the first morning. The second morning we did not go down so I don't know if it was different or the same. I would stay here again and recommend to anyone going to Crookston.
room was easy to check into (booked using website) and got into room right away. room was very clean and well lit. amenities were good and breakfast was decent. convenient locations - near a walmart and a few places to eat. easy to get to on and off the highway.
We stay at this hotel for our annual hunting trip to Northwest Minnesota. Over the years they have been extremely accommodating, allowing us to use their breakfast area as a party room for our large group. They have put up with our loud and raucous behavior… Though we are respectful and we turn the volume down when asked to. They serve a nice breakfast in the morning with waffles, eggs, and sausages, along with cold cereal, bagels, toast, sweet rolls, orange juice and coffee. Just what the doctor ordered when hunting in early November in northern Minnesota where you can be greeted by temperatures at 6 AM in the morning ranging from 10° to 50°. A big thumbs up to the AmericInn in Crookston.
Enjoyed our stay here in Crookston. My son and I were here for a College visit. We spent two nights. The stay was what good. The room was spacious and clean. We had no problems at all. Nice area with many conveniences all around.
