My wife and I stayed here in mid September, and the rooms were very cute and romantic. We had booked a room with partial sea view but it was practically full sea view - very stunning view from the good sized balcony. Staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. The large pool area has many smaller pools which gives a very intimate and cosy atmosphere. Add to that sun loungers in the many little cosy nooks and crannies as well as little spots on the rocks between the two private beaches (one small and one tiny) with stunningly crystal clear water. The hotel is also only about 3-4 min walk from the beach promenade in Baja Sardinia. We very much enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend. Only point of criticism would be that the bed and pillows were very hard.

The hotel located at a very nice location. The hotel is a bit old fashioned and I recommend to renovate it asap. It looks like in the 70th .... The pools are very nice. We had dinner in the hotel and it was OK, not much more. Breakfast was poor, coffee was from automatic machine and I expect in Italy to get good coffee. The service in the dining room was very good.

I've just returned from a weeks holiday at this pretty and quirky Hotel. This hotel, part of a chain of Italian hotels is decorated in typical Sardinian style. Its location is good just on the edge of the tiny but lovely resort of Baja Sardinia. The main areas of the hotel are really lovely comfortable seating and the gardens are lush. The hotel has many terraced areas with a few sunbeds and lots of shade through the trees. It has several small pools and many steps on various terraced areas lead down to the small shingle beach and the sea so not suitable for the less able or people with young children as although the terraces have fencing around them there are large gaps which are small child could climb through and have a nasty fall. When visiting Italy unless you're staying in a big city I have discovered that rooms can be a little basic but this hotel has taken it to a new level. For a four star hotel I would expect some comfort in the room. There is plastic furniture on the balcony and 2 very straight backed wooden chairs in the bedroom and the beds are like concrete! I would expect a 4 star Hotel to have comfortable beds but ours had cheap metal bases and extremely hard mattresses which creaked terribly and I can only liken it to what I would imagine an army barracks bed and you can feel every spring. A lady we got talking to reckoned that she had a bruised rib because of it. It was a source of conversation with the other guests who all agreed that the beds were really hard and I only found out the day before we left that the hotel now will issue a mattress topper if needed (obviously because of all the complaints they received). Also, the towels are old and thin. I couldn't get a Seaview room only a side Seaview room and the problem with this is because of the layout of the hotel you are immediately overlooked by The opposite rooms and balconies so if you can, get a Full Seaview as you are not over looked then. Breakfast is a haphazard affair as there are pinch points around the breakfast buffet. The breakfast I would say is pretty standard for Italy with a selection of Breads, croissants, ham, cheese, fruit (mostly tinned - disappointing) and bacon and eggs. I was surprised that the fruit juice was obviously out of a packet or something as it was very watered down and tasted more like a squash. The food at dinner though was nice and plentiful not in a fine dining kind of way mostly pretty basic Italian food but very tasty. Yes the drinks are expensive but this is the case where ever we went it is an expensive place to go on holiday and would highly recommend staying half or full board if possible. The staff are fabulous (apart from one of the receptionists who was haughty to say the least) and go out of their way to be cheerful and friendly and do everything they can for you and the chambermaid who cleaned the room was absolutely lovely and the rooms are clean as is the rest of the hotel. We had an issue with the first room we were given as it smelt of drains and luckily there was one other room available and so we're able to change rooms. You are issued A beach towel each on arrival and for two euros you can swap it for a clean one as you go through the holiday. Overall I would recommend this hotel but they really need to do something to make the guests feel more comfortable in the rooms.

Me and my 2 daughters have recently returned from a week's stay here. The service and food in this hotel were outstanding - Salvatore (our fantastic waiter every evening) deserves a special mention as he went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. Breakfast was the only meal I felt could be improved with fresher bread and more hot options - perhaps an omelette station? Lunch is buffet-style for starter with fresh fish and pasta served for main. The fish was filleted in front of us which was beautifully done. Dinner is a 4 course menu with a dress code which makes for a much nicer experience. The view out to sea by the piano bar is stunning and with 7 pools to choose from what is there not to like! The fitness centre was used by my daughters on a daily basis but on hot days with no air conditioning or fan (it's sheltered by outside) it was quite a struggle I understand. Options are good though with both running and rowing machines, multiple weights and a bike. We would love to return. Thank you.

We have just returned from 10 days at this lovely hotel. We had a double room (101) and our adult children shared the twin next door (115). Both were seaview on the ground floor with terraces. If you go for a ground floor room, definitely choose one on the beach side of the hotel as the terraces are completely open and have a beautiful view. The pool areas and beachfront location of this hotel are stunning. The hotel itself is a little old fashioned in style but I quite liked that as it felt properly old-school Italian. It is very clean and there is plenty of space. We had asked in advance for mattress toppers and these were on the beds when we arrived. The pillows are a little hard but we slept well. My only two criticisms of our room was the positioning of the air con - it blows straight into your face as you try to sleep! The other was that we had a shower curtain rather than a door. Nothing worse than having it stuck to you whilst you are showering!!! We opted for half board and were very happy we did. We all found the food to be excellent and ate way too much!!! The primi piatti was consistently good.....the lasagne is the best I've tasted!!! The staff in the restaurant are so lovely and particular thanks goes to Mauro for looking after us so well (you sit on the same table each night so get to know your waiter a little). The wine list was good for us as we particularly wanted to try local wines. Prices are around €18-€25. We swapped dinner for lunch a couple of times and really enjoyed this. The main course is cooked to order on the grill and was fabulous, particularly the scampi! All the staff we dealt with were so lovely and actioned everything we asked for really quickly. All in all a really lovely holiday!

visited first week of sept, and the hotel was amazing!. the service at this place is first class. the waiters, managers and cleaning crew, were the best. they went out of their way to help us and make our stay enjoyable. they were always nice, curtise and professional. best service i have ever experienced at a hotel, and i have traveled to a lot of places. the food was amazing, we had half board and the dinner menu changed everyday and was cooked to perfection. the wine selection is also very extensive. we really enjoyed the different fish dishes and dessert. the hotel is also a 3 minute walk from downtown where you can find really good restaurants and shopping. the only thing i would recommend is after dinner have a separate area/patio open for people that want to sit outside and relax but don't smoke or don't like breathing smoke not only will i comeback, i highly recommend the hotel to anyone that will ask. i give it a 5 star

We had a nice time here, with lovely rooms. Be sure to book with sea view, it's worth it. Staff mostly very nice and quick. We booked only breakfast as there are a lot of very good restaurants within walking distance. Never once used the pool as the private beach was just lovely. Beware the lounge reservers! If you want to spend the day on a pool lounge, you better throw your towel on it around 6am..... If you are a tea lover, then bring a travel kettle and mug for the room. At the breakfast buffet the only hot water available was from the coffee machine and then only in a small coffee cup. I repeatedly asked for a pot of hot water but after the third morning of scowling staff I gave up.

Look, if you want to be tucked away and have a true resort style vacation then this is a good place for you to go. Great rooms with lovely small balconies, great views of the water, beach, and surroundings and everything you would want without leaving the resort - then this has it all.My only complaint was a check in - I thought the young man was a bit rude as we had booked through an online company and his voice was a little uppity but then that was cancelled out by a lovely Russian lady who couldn't have helped us out more during our two nights stay. Breakfast had a bit of everything that would appeal to people of all tastes. We enjoyed our stay but glad we had only two nights as we were ready to get out and explore the rest of Sardinia.

I have just returned from Sardinia and I'm still under the impression of this hotel. Before my stay I read some mixed reviews, but after one week I can absolutely recommend it. First of all, it is perfectly located- close to the charming town of Baja Sardinia, with wonderful views of the sea, manicured garden and original swimming pools. Secondly, the staff was polite and professional. In addition, my room was kept perfeclty clean, with good air condtioning. I would like to highlight that beds in my room (124) were definitely comfortable. And last but not least- food. Breakfast is quite typical but everyone can find something tasty such as croissants, pastries, selection of cheese and ham, fresh fruit, cereals, coffee (served by the waitress or available from the machine). Dinners were exceptional with a wide choice of delicious food, beautifuly served. It was a perfect end of a day and a real celebration. To sum up, Grand Hotel Smeraldo Beach even exceed my expectations and it was a real pleasure to spend my long awated holidays on Sardinia.

For a hotel with all you need, this was perfect.. from our sea facing room, to the half board dinner menu, different every night, and 4 courses.. beach in the morning, pool in the afternoon, small private terrace to sunbed by the pool. The most stunning sunsets every evening, the polite kind and cheerful staff, the silence at night for a good sleep, all made for a lovely holiday for us this July.. no charge for sun beds on beach and plenty to go round.. good air con in rooms and baths in the bathrooms..
