Evening menu was disappointing. Standard of food not as good as expected. Service pleasant but more staff needed in the restaurant and especially in the bar/snack area. Rooms brilliant, wonderful views
We had a good visit 12 years ago. The planned remodeling is long overdue. Many maintenance issues in our room. Sliding wardrobe doors fell on us, toilet seat was unfixed, Tiles missing in bathroom, air conditioning thermostat worn out Evening menu and food quality was lamentable.
Although pleasant sunset, if you want to be able to sit on the balcony without being pestered by seabirds, avoid room overlooking bay . A junior suite with balcony overlooking sea would have been preferred option
Great location. A lovely part of the Costa Brava lits to see close by.Fabulous building. Brilliant breakfast good range of hot and cold buffet. Open until 11am.A special place, building is lovely lots of different places to sit and relax.Staff very helpful and friendly.Nothing was too much trouble. Great experience. Would recommend .Good idea to become amigos de paradores.
Perched on peninsular with views of the sea and cliffs all around. Superior rooms have large balconies, a small gym and a jacuzzi as well as plentiful space. Huge breakfast buffet. Staff delightful. Parking a bit limited but more than adequate. Diner offers international choice with a Spanish twist plus some Catalan dishes
We have stayed in many Paradors - always excellent rooms and food - this was the exception to the rule. The rooms were dated with poor furniture and bathrooms not to 4 star standard. This hotel is NOT value for money. The actual location is stunning but the hotel should be at least 30% cheaper - it needs upgrading. The majority of the staff were sullen and I would say over worked which might have accounted for their attitude. The restaurant was fine for breakfast but dinner was not good - I saw 3 meals sent back and our paella was gritty and awful. Here again the staff were not happy in their work and rushing around with very little service. I expect a 4 star hotel to better than this! Buck up Parador!!
We visited this lonely place in the second half of August this year, when stayed for 2 nights. The beautiful nature, interesting views, privacy (the nearest town is 15 minutes away by car). The hotel friendly staff, nice view from the room, the room clean enough. The parking of hotel is a lot. A breakfast and dinner was variety, we did not have time to get bored during two days. The own territory of hotel is too small , so the walk particularly nowhere. The beach Cala Aiguablava five minutes walk (have to climb back up the hill), the beach is too small , so in season the space may not be enough because people can be very much. I think this is a great place for lovers of peace and quiet as well as beautiful nature
What a location, what views! Cliffs, coves and pine trees! This Parador is in one of the most beautiful areas of Mediterranean Spain. The hotel, while nice and quite elegant, is In need of some update in the bathroom area: The bath tub is old and most fixtures and all racks and grab bars were loose. The generous sized rooms, with balcony, have great sea and cove view . The restaurant is expensive but nice with good food. Where the hotel is a total failure is the information and the service. Noria, at the reception, was about as friendly and accommodating as a prison official would be, gave us no information on anything in the hotel. She did not inform us, after we asked about the sauna, that it had to be reserved, she had no idea about the menus of the restaurant and never told us that down the road on the beach was a restaurant of theirs etc. It couldn't have been because we were demanding Americans, we spoke Spanish to her! In the room was no information on how to increase the cooling of the AC. We only found out next day that the "speaker" controls next to the bed were actually the AC power control! Going for a swim in the great pool at 10AM, there was no guard and no towels! Ms Montse, serving us drinks, was the only staff member living up to the expected service level. She filled us in on all the details we needed to know about the hotel and the area!
Great hotel, shame about the Montivent restaurant on the beach. Aiguablada is served by an excellent, inexpensive bus service to Fornells and Begur from June to September. It would be good if this could be extended to cover the months in spring and autumn, as driving in Spain is not easy for strangers to the area. Overall, an excellent experience.
Very nice place which I guess was built in the mid 70's. I think they should update the whole place. Other than that very good location, good food, good service and incredible views. Rooms are big and comfortable.
