We paid extra for a sea view and it was really worth it,cracking view from the 1st flood overlooking the beach.Good beach ,however it was a gravelly beach ,but soft gravel so wasn't too bad.Sea was lovely, warmer than the pool, which was also very good, right next to the pool.Dining room was hectic ,but something to choose from for most tastes.Bar prices reasonable and hotel close to the town.

I was on my way to Calella and stopped here over night. I booked a triple room. We arrived quite late. The man on the reception whom I had seen before was extremely pleasant. There was a bit of confusion about the booking which was sorted out relatively quickly. The room we were allocated was just fantastic. The parking is 15 Euros a night which is a real rip off and not correct. I parked on the street which was free. I am not prepared to pay 15 Euros for a outside parking per night. There was no problem finding a parking outside at this time of year. We had a good sleep and woke early as we had to get to Calella. We had a fantastic view of the sea and the sun rising. I went for a swim as I could not resist even though it was a bit on the fresh side at 07.30. The breakfast was a buffet and it was like London at rush hour. The pancakes were excellent. There was not a great choice of fruit but what was there was nice and local. The juices were from a machine chemically produced and the coffee was not great. I am not keen on this massive hotels. I did not have much interaction with the staff so I cannot comment on them. The reception staff in the morning were far from pleasant. I did not like their attitude, a certain arrogance and disdain for the clients was the impression I had especially from the manager. I would probably stay there again. The location is excellent and the price is reasonable.

Just returned from a short break at the HTOP Caleta Palace. Check in was by friendly staff, lots of smiles, so please ignore any reviews about grumpy faces. Our all inclusive cards were issued straight away so we could start enjoying all the facilities. We had been allocated a ground floor room but as we prefer a higher floor and sea view we paid the small extra charge to change. Our room on the 5th floor was spotlessly clean and afforded stunning views along the beach. The hotel situation is perfect, right on the beach with steps leading down from the pool. Walk down the hotel drive and turn left, about 100 metres gets you among the shops and local restuarants. There is an outdoor pool bar, where the barman was always pleasant and efficient with serving you beers and cocktails. Snacks are also served here in the morning and afternoon. The majority of the guests we found to be elderly French, therefore after midnight the hotel is very quiet. We slept with the balcony door open and all you could hear were the waves lapping on the beach. The reason for only a four star rating was down to the food. So many of the hot dishes were served up on large metal tureens placed on a not very efficient hot plates. This meant that hot food cooled rapidly, semi warm chicken and pork are not conducive to healthy eating. The soups and breads were delicious with a vast range of salads and desserts, however the food is definitely let down by most main courses being tepid at best after being put on display for a few minutes. This issue alone would probably prevent us returning, which is a pity because every other aspect of the hotel would get a five star rating.

I've just returned home from staying at the Caleta Palace for one week. I loved it. It's not a new hotel, but that adds character. The hotel is spotlessly clean and I was in room 443 - a corner room and very spacious. The staff were incredibly helpful - Karim (I think) - always busy and always smiling in the restaurant, Fran, Franscisco, Hussein and Maria - all the staff mentioned were busy, polite, well mannered and considerate to guests. All staff - not just those mentioned - were great including chambermaids and reception staff. Helpful hints and tips - if going, take your own kettle and all in one cappuccino sachets as there's no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. This'll still mean you can have an early morning cuppa in the privacy of your own room before going out for the day. Take plenty books, magazines etc for reading as the only English reading material I could buy was the Mail and Express newspapers. The local shops sell mainly Spanish and French so if you are an avid reader - take your own. I'd say it would be a benefit to do your research before you come here too - coach excursions are only to Barcelona, so if you want to go anywhere else it would pay you to check everything out before hand -.bus timetables, where the bus station is and print out a map. Would recommend the boat trip to Tossa from the main beach - it's a great day out. The Caleta Palace and this resort are quiet - the only sound to be heard at night was the sound of the waves, which was my idea of heaven. Lots of cafes and shops, but this is a resort that is definitely better for those looking for a quieter holiday. If you are looking for a party culture - look elsewhere. I loved this hotel and I loved this resort. I've already rebooked to return next year and have extended my stay to 11 nights from 14 - 25 May. If any management reads this post - Can I please have room 443 again? Looking forward to my return - see you in 2018.

My sister and I have just arrived home from a marvelous holliday at the Caleta Palace. We had room 443 which we believe to be one of the best rooms in the hotel! Everyone of the staff where exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and hopefully we shall return again soon. In my opinion this hotel and the resort are catering for people who are looking for a relaxing holliday. The resort has fantastic shops and has a great cafe culture. If you want a mad drinking resort then this place is not for you! If you like quiet relaxing stress free hollidays then this is for you. The hotel is right on the beach which is very small pebbles so I would reccomend beach shoes. There is beautiful scenery on the left side of the hotel beach side with another cove. Also ancient arches and battlements. There are excursions into Barcelona and we walked to the large beach on the right side where there are boat trips to Tossa de Marr for £28 euros well worth a great day out. There are a few coments regarding food at the hotel. Personally I love seafood, spanish and french food. I sometimes found the food just warm but there are microwaves to heat up meals if required. If you dont like european dishes there are chips and bread and coldmeats and cheeses. The resturant is well managed and staff are constantly very busy. My sister and I enjoyed every second of our holiday we loved the beautiful peace and quiet, with remarkable scenery. We cannot wait to return.

grea familly stay. Hotel and its infrustracture is perfect for kids (our team 9-12). Great location almost at the beach. Very friendly and helpfull hotel team. Hope to come back next year Best regards for Team - Pozdrowienia dla calego zespolu !

Just returned from a week at the H.TOP Caleta Palace. We were a group of 12 which included a 2 year old. After arriving at around 12.00 noon we were told that our rooms would be ready at 2.00 pm but we were told that there was a shower downstairs if we needed it and we were also given our cards for the all inclusive which we were told we could use straight away. When we were eventually given our keys for our room we found these to be very clean. The usual, twin beds, bathroom, dressing table and balcony. We had clean towels every day and the maid was very nice and friendly. We found most of the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The bar area was ok but was very busy in the evening with quite long queues waiting to be served as there was usually only 2 staff serving, sometimes 3. The pool area was great although you were not allowed any lilo's etc in the pool. There was a lifeguard on duty who was very good, offering advice to people if they needed it. The food however lets this hotel down very badly. The breakfast was the usual bacon, eggs, sausages etc along with pancakes. There was also cereals and cold meats and cheese. Not too bad but the warm food was luke warm if you were lucky and the sausages weren't cooked properly. Lunch and Evening Meal there was very little choice. The only options were seafood or pork every day along with pasta. Yes there was paella but it was seafood not everyone likes seafood. There was potatoes, veg, chips, again luke warm if you were lucky, most of the time everything was cold. So salad it was everyday. We also found that some of the deserts had nuts in them, there should have been a notice advising people of that in case anyone had a nut allergy. The poolside bar offered burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches and chips. One of our party ordered a cheeseburger which when it arrived was stone cold and wasn't even cooked in the middle. We took it back and the barman took it off us before we could say anything, saying that he could see that this wasnt cooked properly. The hotel is in a great location, go to the pool area, down some steps and you're on the beach. Go out the front door, to the end of the driveway, turn left and you're on the main road with all the shops and bars etc. This could be a very good hotel if they vastly improve the food choice and serve it warm.

This was our 2nd year at this hotel the location is great, the view we had from our room on the top floor was fantastic, we stayed All Inclusive, Every day the rooms were cleaned and fresh towels provided, we always had a friendly greeting by the maids, our maid was lovely, the rooms seemed to have been refurbished, which was great. Meal times can get a bit hectic, its seems some people just go for a food fest, but the staff in the dining room were accommodating and everything ran like clockwork, food was cooked fresh each day, it may not to everyone's taste, - but there is something for even the pickiest of eaters, wine is provided if you are A/I Hotel staff were very accommodating and we had some good banter with a few of them, check-in was very efficient although it can get busy at reception sometimes. Playa de aro is beautiful long beach ( small pebbles) with lots of little beaches dotted around the cost, we caught the bus to calella de palafrugell & Tamariu, both towns have stunning coastlines and are well worth a visit, bus ride costa approx. 3 euros. I do think that the hotel is for the older end and couples, although there is a kid’s club, but I’m not too sure if its open all the time, there was games in the pool and exercise classes for those who wanted to participate, towels are put on sunbeds very early but the beach is great, we managed to get a sunbed 1 day out of 8 but we didn’t get up purposely to get a sunbed, only for that 1 day, pool and gardens were very clean. Once again thank you to all the staff, kitchen staff and Bar staff for all their hard work and a special thank you to Lativa who was very friendly, had a great sense of humour and also a professional attitude. Hope to see you next year. I have given 4 stars because we personally had a great holiday, just a pity the All Inclusive drinks are not all branded as in some hotels we have been to and you have to pay a bit extra for these.

This hotel is perfect for couples but definitely not for families with young children. There was no kids reps trying to get children involved in games, activities etc. There was also no music around the pool either (was pretty boring to be honest) They were not aloud any inflatables in the pool, no toys in the pool absolutely nothing. They did have a kids club but it was only open for an hour in the morning and an hour at night and there is no children in there anyway ! They had a children's disco on at night but it was only on for 15 minutes then they had ridiculous entertainment on all in Spanish more suitable for older people. The hotel was on so many different floors it was 3 flights of stairs down to the pool so it was very dangerous for my child as she is under 2. The hotel itself is very clean and well kept. The food was also very nice and was lots to choose from. Overall was a good holiday but it is definitely NOT suitable for a family holiday ! More suitable for couples or a retirement holiday..

This hotel is all about the location and its sea view. Although we paid for a sea view room in advance, when we arrived, we were not provided with a room with a view. However the following morning, after speaking with the manager, we were provided with a suite on the 2nd floor that more than made up for it. Gold star! Rooms were cleaned and fresh towels provided every day. You need your own towels for the pool. We went half board and are glad we did. The food was not great. However the fruit and cheese was amazing. Noticed a lack of staff, particularly in the bar when waiting to pay for drinks. Long queues. Pool Facilities are clean. Beach is wonderful. Make sure you hire a car and visit various local Costa Brava beaches. We had some amazing days out.
