The Rock n Roll festival has been going for 20 years and accommodation can be at a premium. The Volga is perfectly placed, about 200m walk from the train station and perfect for Santi's bar on the beach, 2 min walk to the main shopping street and 10 min walk to the evening venue at La Fabrica. Heaps of great restaurants nearby. A fridge and a safe in the room for your valuables. The balcony rooms are a BIG plus with views over the Mediterranean. Most people choose to add on the breakfast to their stay and its amazing. plenty of buffet food, hot, cold, juices, everything for very little extra cost. Its in the basement and the "oldies" cue up early, but there is never a wait for tables and its well staffed. The food just keeps flowing until you can eat no more. The pool is very good with an adjacent bar for any drinks and nibbles. The counter staff are very good and gave us suggested places to visit nearby by train, which is easy to get to. We explored up the coast and when we returned, collected our bags and caught the train back to Barcelona for our link to France. The Hotel is linked to a bar (Nui Bar) on the beach where (as house guests) you get a free lounge and towels. The service is excellent with snacks and drinks to keep us hydrated. Because the Volga is right next to the beach (although you have to divert 100m around the train line) its easy to spend a long day on the beach and the Nui Bar provides everything you need until its shopping time. The "acid test"..... would we stay there again. An absolute YES.
another Christmas and new year hotel Volga. excellent as last year from management to staff maids everyone made us welcome and made the holiday special . our room was fabulous overlooking pool and a sea view. food was varied and really good. this holiday is excellent value for your money, we didn't pay this year we won holiday from the hotel Volga. will visit again. thanks to all, and thanks to ferris coach hols for there service also
My wife and i stayed at the Volga over Christmas and new year this time we flew the last twice we travelled by coach. last time we stayed we were lucky enough to win the holiday for this year (2017) in a draw they have every year. the hotel arranged the transfers for us. we stayed in room 403 overlooking the pool and the beach the room was spotless and cleaned every day the entertainment in the daytime was very good and the evening entertainment was brilliant. the local shops and market were very good and open for most of our time there, drinks were quite cheap and every afternoon they were half price the food was great and all the staff deserve a pat on the back you would find it hard to find better
Just returned from a Christmas break with Leger at this hotel. One of the best hotels we have stayed on a coach tour. The staff were friendly, attentive helpful. Waitresses were helping the less mobile in the dining room by getting meals for them. Liked that we were sat together as a group at mealtimes. The quality and choice of food was exceptional and the variety and display was fantastic. Room was larger than expected bedding changed frequently. The Hotel is situated close to the shopping streets and the beach. There is a railway line between the beach and hotel but did not bother us. Lovely hotel and holiday
I stayed here this week on a Leger holiday and thought it was wonderful! The food was plentifull and beautifully presented, with a great choice of starters and desserts, and lots of fresh fruit. Service was very good too - all through the hotel. The room was pleasant and spotlessly clean with a lovely big walk in power shower. I was in a corner room on the 1st floor, so had a limmited view of the beach, but it was very handy for the shops (one street back). The railway line runs alongside the holtel, so you have to walk a little way for access to the beach, which is at the other side of the track. Trains don't run through the night and did'nt disturb me at all. There was good quality entertainment in the bar all three nights I went in, singers and a dance troupe on the final night. The free drinks as part of our package were very welcome, as was the cava and tapas reception on our final night. Bar prices were reasonable anyway, 1.90 euro for a small beer, 2.20 euros for a glass of very acceptable rose wine. I would recomment this hotel to anyone, the only fault I found with our stay was that it was'nt long enough! From the manager down, the staff are pleasant and helpful and the facilities first class - should be a 5 star in my opinion.
I checked in late on a Friday night (no booking) I was seen to straight away. We enjoyed our stay so much we extended it for an extra 2 nights and were able to keep the same room with no problems. Breakfast and dinner were fantastic, plenty to chose from. All staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel was clean , presentable and we had no problems! Thank you to everyone who made our stay so welcoming
We stayed here as part of Leger coach trip. What a great hotel. Check in was efficient and friendly. Our room was well proportioned with a balcony overlooking the pool and a view of the sea. The air-conditioning worked well. The hotel is situated close to the main shopping area and the sea in the quieter end of Calella. Malky the manager organised a welcome meeting for us the first morning and a thank you gathering on the last evening with cava and nibbles. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style, with oodles of choice. The bar was comfortable and welcoming, drinks reasonably priced and Joe, Alvaro and Edgar efficient and friendly. There was some form of entertainment most nights. The hotel has a minibus which was made available for customers to get to the coach stop if they were not able to walk the short distance at no extra charge (and taxis if the minibus was doing an airport run). Being ultra picky it was a bit noisy at times due to the Octoberfest event happening on the beach nearby but that was out of the control of the hotel. We had a great time, very relaxing and would happily stay again.
stayed here with wifrieda beehive coach tours for seven nights enjoyed every minute lovely hotel lovely rooms friendly staff good choice of food buffet style railway station across from hotel so you can catch a train to another resort if you wish cheap rates too though callella is very nice to entertainment some nights and bingo on other nights and shops are just a street away well recommended
Having recently returned from our coach holiday, we can only say that everything about the Hotel Volga was excellent from start to finish. The rooms were spotless and the towels were changed every day. The choice of food both at breakfast and the evening meal were excellent, so much variety we couldn't fault it. The staff were friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is situated in an excellent position easy for walking to the beach, promenade, shops and cafes. We have not hesitation in recommending this hotel. We will be staying here again.
