I have stayed in Sitges a few times but always in apartments with friends. This time I chose a hotel as I was with my sister who enjoys more luxury. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the town which was fine as we enjoy walking. Our room was big, had a balcony with a sea view and a very nice bathroom. The hotel staff were very professional and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. I ordered room service one evening and even though I asked for things that weren't on the menu they obliged and brought our food up very quickly. All in all a very good hotel and a brand I would certainly look out for in other places I visit.
Had a nice short stay here. The room was spacious and airy with a balcony. The hotel itself was not to my taste as it had quite a corporate feel, however it was immaculately clean and the staff were friendly. The pool area was ok, again not to my personal tastes as it felt quite crowded and seemed to be shaded for quite a lot of the day. Only a short walk to some lovely beaches though so I did this instead. Breakfast was a feast- there was nothing you could not have and it was all delicious. I did not eat here for any other meals so cannot comment further on food. Overall a pleasant stay.
This hotel is nice however it is not what I would expect from a Melia. It's expensive, granted we were there in August, but for three nights we paid €740 per room for B&B and the room did NOT include: a complementary bottle of water (in Spain, in August?!) bathrobes tea making facilities using the gym was an additional €10 charge The staff were very nice, and the breakfast buffet was good, albeit very busy with a table shortage. I have stayed in Melia hotels in five different countries, this is the first time I felt let down by the brand. Penny pinching was noticeable in the service, but not in the price we were paying.
I haven't been for a few years, but this is my 3rd or 4th time at the Melia Sitges with my family, and it just gets better!! I rarely go back to a hoteI, let alone 4 times and I am not sure where the ' Ok property lousy service' reviewer below was staying, but I doubt it was this hotel! I have stayed in a lot of hotels, but never in one where nearly every member of staff says hello to you, and smiles. The hotel is about a 15 min walk from the centre of town which actually is great, as Sitges is a busy noisy place and the hotel is in a quieter area away from the noise and bars, but a pleasant walk into town and near the Port with lots of restaurants, near a supermarket, large pool and lawned sunbathing area, spa area, 3 free fitness classes a day .... Not sure why they need a shuttle bus for a shortish pleasant walk and when you need a taxi, they call one for you at reception, no problem. There are other good 4 star hotels nearer the centre, but look at the small size of the pool and the number of chairs, the size of the common areas / lounges, the car and people noise - unless you are a clubber of course. This is not a 5 star hotel, but a very good 4/4.5 star hotel with a great team - I really wouldn't go back if it wasn't Of special note during our stay was Maria Angela, the fitness lady who persuaded lazy old me to do 2 classes a day whether pilates, toning, yoga....she was a lot of fun to talk to, sings to some of the tracks ( especially Miley Cyrus ) and kept telling me no pain, no gain - I now need a rest !, the two pool guys ( who let us have 12 towels a day for the 4 of us - ssshh! ), the bearded bartender in the drinks truck ( great Aperol maker ), Jordi in reception and the guy who put the seats and pads out every day early. Apologies if I get the spellings wrong or didn't name you - you know who you are. The breakfasts are particularly good, and the rooms spacious and clean - it was really well done - again, but better as they now have a drinks truck on the grass as well as the bar, and the umbrellas have been replaced, more sun loungers. Whilst I gush, there is always something to improve on and I have one suggestion for improvement and one comment for the hotel to consider. 1. One of our daughters is now vegan which was a minor issue in the Saffron Bistro being a bit meaty / fishy. There is no reason with cooking staff why you couldn't boil up some dried pasta and knock up a quick tomato based sauce, offer a risotto, a vegan burger etc. Not difficult or a major issue, just a suggestion. It doesn't need to be elaborate. 2. We thought that the drinks truck was great addition to the hotel selling beer, smoothies, cocktails, soft drinks, spirits during the hot days and into the evening. We thought all the drink pricing was all fine and reasonable, but the smoothies at 7 euros quite expensive for what was really juice out of a carton with crushed up ice. We drank a lot of those and had no issues with any other prices. Bar that, all really good in fact better than last time and I would definitely come back again. Andrew ( 12 towels )
If i would be rich , i will stay at Melia Sitges for the rest of my life and I will explain why: Is not a 5 stars resort , but it's the hotel with the most amazing team , I wish I could mention all of them but I don't have enough space to write. You go to the reception and you meet those incredible people like Jordi who makes sure that I enjoy every moment of my stay , then they have Pancho ( I hope I've got the name right) he is so funny and so thoughtful and genuinely polite , they also have the guest experience Ia who is so sweet and she cared about my son when he wasn't feeling well , then you cannot miss Saffron, the bar of the hotel . The people who are working there are so friendly and they are always happy to help . Thanks Ariel for looking after us and for the amazing service, thanks Dianicet for checking on me all the time to make sure that I am having a good time thanks for the amazing cocktails , Rafa you've made my stay very special Joaquin thanks for recommending me the lemon smoothie, thanks Francesc (sorry if the name is not right ) the whole team is amazing. A special thank you to Sergi from the restaurant, you've been so kind and thanks for all the food , for making us feel welcomed . I can't remember all the names but what I can say is that this is the best place to go if you want to relax and enjoy. Is the right place to go alone or with the family because the staff are so special that you will feel like home but with amazing 5 stars service.
Spent 2 days in Sitges & decided to stay at melia. They off er very little in terms of customer service. Good luck getting a taxi because not many in Sitges. Melia offers Nothing in the way of a shuttle. They need to provide transportation to & from train & bus station. And a drop off service to all the area beaches. You walk through all the neighborhood garbage dumpsters to & from the town & beaches.
We booked a Lemon in Sitges and almost abandoned our vacation. But ventured into Melia Sitges and knew straight away this was a professionally run hotel. A big thank you to Juan Carles at reception for running us through the options and even showing us around the hotel and we were left in no doubt that we were not booking a second lemon. We had a view over Sitges and beaches that was a joy to wake up to with a fantastic buffet breakfast daily. Pool and facilities are great, but note Gym in basement is privately owned so there is a supplement to use that. This is covered off by the free instructor lead Pillates, yoga, water aerobic and spin classes conducted daily. Its not central but 10 to 12 minute walk to the centre is handy enough and its circa 5 minutes to port and nearest beaches. The trade off for the small walking is that you can get out of the late night noise that effects more centrally located operators and work off that super breakfast after a good undisturbed nights sleep. Will return in the future for sure.
Our fifth year staying at this lovely hotel. The staff are always welcoming and will do anything to help, and the rooms are always clean and comfortable. Had great spacious suite with large balcony with sea and pool views. lovely pool area too. The hotel is in a great location, a 10 min walk away from the busier town centre and near to the marina and beaches . Everything is in walking distance and there is a great choice of restaurants nearby. Our boys love coming here, and I honestly have never found fault with the hotel during any of our stays. Always a good sign to see the same staff at the hotel, and usually familiar faces among the guests too. Would recommend the hotel to anyone. More relaxed than staying in Barcelona,. Thank you !
I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel - it was superb! The room was extremely comfortable, breakfast was delicious, the pool area was clean and well looked after and the staff were very attentive.
We took the regional train from Barcelona Franca train station to the Sitges train station. It took about an hour and cost 5 Euro a person. We had 6 pieces of luggage between the 3 of us. We were able to keep the luggage right by our sides which I always appreciate from a safely standpoint. We got off the train and found the taxi stand. We took a short ride to the hotel (8-10 minutes at most) and check-in went smoothly. We had a great employee by the name of Natalia check us in. She was friendly and professional. We had booked a double room with extra bed but were not promised one with a view. Natalia checked with management. For an extra 20 Euro a night they provided a room on the 5th floor with a wonderful balcony overlooking the water and the entire town of Sitges. It was fabulous. The room itself was more set up for 2 people as there was only a king bed. They brought in a rollaway for our teen daughter and she was fairly comfortable. They had a free bottle of water waiting for us. The bathroom was spacious and clean but had a strange, musty odor when we first arrived but thankfully was gone a few hours later. We appreciated the little refrigerator in the room where we could keep some cheese to enjoy with our cava and crackers on the balcony. We left the hotel and walked into town. It should have taken us about 15-20 minutes to get into the center of town but we took the beach path and discovered a wonderful little oasis called Vivero Beach Club restaurant so we stopped and had some lovely sangria overlooking the water! Eventually we made it into town and enjoyed walking around and taking in all the wonderful history and ambiance. We walked back around 10 or 11pm. It felt fairly safe on the beach path but it was a little dark and desolate in a few areas and I probably would not have walked it if I was alone. The next morning we woke up and went to work out. My husband hit the fitness room and used the cardio equipment. My daughter went to Zumba class. They each paid 9 Euro. I chose to attend the free outdoor Pilates class by the pool. It was delightful. They set up mats on the big grassy area between the pool and the ping pong tables. I have forgotten her name but our instructor was very motivational and fun. She loved to sing with the songs and was just a joy first thing in the morning! After we worked out we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It was huge with over 100 items including an omelet and pancake station. We ate well! The only downside was that we had hoped to eat outside but there weren’t any tables available as it was rather crowded. After breakfast, we walked down to the marina area. It was a 5-10 minute walk to the boats. Our goal was to go sailing. We found a little building where you could hire a captain and a boat but sadly it was too windy. Other rentals available in that area included little motorboats you could take out solo. The water was really too rough out so we decided to just go to the beach instead. We walked to the beach using the beach path. The first beach closest to the hotel (5 minute walk) was Balmins Beach and was a mixture of gay and straight people and was a clothing optional beach. We moved on to the beach closer to town which was called San Sebastian Beach. It was a family friendly beach and much less crowded but the surf was much rougher. We were able to play in the waves for a while but then they put up the red flag and everyone had to come in out of the water. We laid out for a while until we all tired of the sand storm whipping sand in our eyes. We eventually headed back to the hotel pool which was much more enjoyable. We had no problem finding chairs. There was a good mixture of sunny spots and shady ones so everyone could be happy. When you check in they give you cards to get towels at the pool which is a super easy process. In one of the corners of the pool area, they have a cool bar made from a truck where you can charge drinks to your room. There is another sit down type restaurant/bar area on the other end of the pool but we did not try it out. We bought our drinks from the truck bar and enjoyed some swim, reading, and relaxation time. When I booked the hotel I did not even think we would use the pool since the goal was beach time. In hindsight I am thrilled that we had such a nice Plan B! That night we again walked into town and enjoyed the wonderful food and nightlife. The long, hot walk lost some of its appeal when I was dressed up and had on nice clothes and shoes! The next day my daughter and I wanted to do some last minute souvenir shopping but we were in a hurry. We could not find a little store or anything at the hotel so we took a taxi into town and it cost about 6 Euro. Shopping was quick and then we walked back. They gave us a slightly extended check out (30 minutes) and then held our luggage for us for a little while we relaxed by the pool until it was time to head for our train. The hotel workers were efficient and check out went fine. Overall, the hotel definitely felt like a conference hotel which has both positives and negatives. The hotel was somewhat big and impersonal and was located a little far from town. It was very modern and lacked the charm and ambiance of a quaint seaside hotel. However, they did offer fun amenities such as themed buffets, huge breakfast options, Pilates class, water dance class, a great pool and bar area, scheduled kids activities, workout room and bike rental. Finally, we had our wonderful view of the water and the town. In the end, the good things about it definitely allowed us a wonderful visit, and I would consider returning for another stay if I was ever in the area again!
