sept 2017, 3 night stay. Large tour groups can take over. Elevator with odd door frequently unavailable so the circular stairs are commonly used. Slow internet in lobby only. Clean, hard working housekeeping staff. Safe in room. Good mattress. Walking in area is difficult, no side-walks, narrow street with heavy traffic. Twenty minute walk in one direction is a cafe & sea view, twenty minutes in the other is a park and excavation; however safety is a concern in walking. A looping bus into the central city every 20 minutes or so at the bottom of the drive, pay the driver. Large dining room set up for groups and food is commercial quality-cafe. Young tourist group emptied several dishes both nights & those choices were not replenished. Poor coffee. Desk Staff, and most dining room staff, seem to dislike their jobs & clients...attitude.
The hotel is situated within a 10 minute drive of Corfu town. The pool is its best feature, the rooms are large enough and well equipped but a little tired for a 4* hotel. Breakfast was extensive in choice but as always catering for many different cultures means there is a lot on offer which doesn't appeal to western tastes and vice versa. The maitre d'hotel was welcoming, the pool barman was friendly as were the room maids but we found the reception staff rather cold, theyeven didn't bother to say good morning or good evening when we walked in or out of the hotel which we found rather strange.
In terms of location it is a 10 minute drive from the airport. Guests told me they went into Corfu town every day using local bus no 2, it stops very close to the hotel. There is a panoramic view of the runway from most of the hotel and yes it can be noisy when planes take off and land, but if you like planes you will love it here. It is set in grounds that are green, lush, and stuffed with morning glory. As for the hotel itself it is part 1970s and part 1990s. People have complained about it being dated but I think it's fascinating. It has unusual lifts, a 70s staircase, a beautiful tiled buffet counter, many items of furniture that have been designed properly (not plastic rubbish) and many other unusual, retro-looking fixtures. Why should everything be white/black, flat, square, and totally characterless like most modern buildings? Don't you get sick of that? I do. Good for them for cherishing what they have and resisting change. I'll come back here for sure. The clientele tend to be older people but that's great to see too. Older people being well looked after by warm-hearted Corfiots, perfect.
Top class, unreal selection at breakfast. Bedrooms class, all you need and more. Pools class with bubbly sections, towels and bridge. Staff on the ball anything u want, they get it. Up a steep road but taxis everywhere if u r in town.
This hotel is located close to The airport so you will the planes taking off and landing...so a little noisy. We had a room with a view of the water which was nice. The hotel and rooms are very dated. The pool is nice but the water is a little too cold. You have to ask The front desk for pool towels. The dinner was below average. The food was boring and not all that good. The breakfast was not much better. The location is far to the old town...40 minute walk. I did not find the front desk particularly nice or friendly when I asked a question.
I've given the Divani 5 stars because although the 70's architecture isn't my taste, ( I was disappointed when I first saw it.) everything else is great. You should know, when booking, it's near the airport so this really can't be a complaint. I personally love watching the planes take off and the fact we had a sunset, lagoon AND runway view made me very happy and I must admit.. excited. We specifically booked this hotel as it was near the airport, near the old town, had a pool and a gym. The pool is a great size, giving the illusion of being 2 and although the gym is pretty basic it's usable. Within 2 minutes of complaining to reception the running machines didn't work, maintenance was there showing me my error. Most of the staff are lovely (we did encounter a surly waiter this morning), have a smile & any help readily on hand. For a claustrophobic like me I particularly like the big spiral stairs in the main area (as opposed to the emergency stairs I usually have to endure) to all the floors. Encouraging everyone to use them instead of getting a lift (also available) like most hotels. It's quite pricey for what it is but this is the cheapest for where it is and the facilities it provides.
Unfortunately this hotel has pretensions greater than its ability to deliver a quality hotel experience. Here I am at midnight on my second night unable to sleep because of the combination of noise frim the terrace bar 2 floors below and the sound of aircraft from the nearby runway. Next door I can hear the severe cough of my neighbouring guest. This evening my order got lost in the kitchen leaving me waiting for my main course and without time for a dessert. This afternoon they weren't even able to provide baclawa, a Greek dessert tradition. The staff are as helpful as they can be, I was given my wine for free in compensation for the delay in my meal and the meal itself was delicious, but they are not responding to my request that the group below are moved inside to continue their party. There is no room service and no tea making facilities. There is muzak throughout the hotel and it has the air of a 1990s business hotel. It has a beautiful pool and the view would be wonderful if it were not for the proximity of the runway. Its a great place if you want somewhere lively and close to Corfu town but don't come here for a peaceful rest like I did! For the £96 per night I've paid for this exclusive of the cost of getting here it's just not good enough.
This hotel is one choices to stay in Kérkyra. We were here for two weeks and it was great. The breakfast is excellent and also the service is great. The pool is fantastic and the views from our room were great. Totally recommended.
Last month on a working Holiday I visited Corfu for the first time and was blown away by this beautiful Island and the warmth and kindness of its Locals.Blessed by gorgeous weather and a fabulous coastline with a real Venetian influence there is plenty to do see and visit. I had a 12 day stay at the Divani Corfu Palace in Kanoni which over looks the sea, and boasts 2 fabulously sized pools divided by a small arched bridge in addition to a baby pool, plenty of Sun loungers, chairs & umbrellas & a pool bar and restaurant run by the ever so lovely Christos. Rooms with balconies are comfortable, spacious spotlessly clean with well served facilities i.e. Minibar, TV, room service, Safe etc. Reception staff are warm friendly and knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble and will organise anything from calling a taxi, recommending a restaurant to organising babysitting service or hairdresser to visit the room. The first floor restaurant which has an outdoors seated Terrace set in Gardens overlooking the Sea serves the most beautiful array of breakfast choices constantly replenished even when you make a mad dash in at the eleventh hour. The restaurant manager Theo & his gorgeous staff could not be more warm & accommodating. The Divani is also the most convenient location for all the Tourist attractions, a stones throw from the beach, a 10 min taxi ride into Corfu old Town which is also serviced by a very proficient door to door bus services which is practically 2 mins away & runs every 20 mins.It is also very close to a mini supermarket if wanting to stock up on water, fresh fruit & cheeky snacks. Couldn't recommend Corfu & the Divani more highly it felt like a home from home I'm already planning my next visit to Corfu & I know exactly where I'll be staying!
A small room nothing to drink. The airco did not work correctly and when we finally succeeded it did spit fine white dust on the bed, disgusting. The desk was not helpful at all probably because the hotel was fully booked. We left the window open but from early in the morning one was sitting on the runway of Korfu airport. Luckily we were only here for one night. The diner was very poor. A buffet with not that much choice that was plundered by young people before 8pm. The breakfast was not much better. Drinks in the bar are expensive and the wifi does not work everywhere
