I really enjoyed my 2-night stay here, but I have to mention that another couple who are friends did not. I had no complaints about my room, comfort, cleanliness, bathroom etc. All fine. My friends' room, however, was actually on two levels, and they were not happy with the layout. The tiny breakfast room is oddly configured as well, but the breakfast was good. I loved the location of the hotel within easy walking distance to the old town and restaurants. My room with a view of the harbor, sigh, charming. I didn't eat at the rooftop restaurant, but both nights we went up for drinks and gazed out at Corfu harbor at night. All of the staff was courteous and friendly. Definitely stay if you can get one of the rooms with a view. I couldn't stop snapping photos from my balcony. A lovely stay.
Taking note of the dismal reviews of rooms, we upgraded to front view rooms and indeed the views were stunning. However, this is a hotel in need of a holiday. The decor is circa 1985 and the beds come with a guarantee of a bad back. The room smelled of mildew and the safe didn't work. Neither did the air conditioning. When I complained I was told in no uncertain terms that it was a superior room. Pity the poor folks in the inferior ones. The receptionist did her training in a dodgy b&b in Blackpool and was off sick the day they taught customer service. A sad experience in a pretty town.
I wanted to go to Corfu and take an excursion to Agia Saranta and Greek Epirus in Albania. . I opened a line of communication with Hara Armeni of Charitos Travel agency. Hara arranged a stay at the Cavalieri Hotel in front of a beach in Corfu town. The rooms were clean. Great Television and wifi. The staff courteous. The hotel was in front of a beach. I was able to go swimming for two days, when it wasn't raining. the location was nearr all the major sights and shopping area. The coastline could be seen from the front door. I took great photos. The staff was always courteous. The breakfast was exceptional, with Nonas donuts, homemade bread, yogourt and great pastries. Above all the location near all was great. Enjoyed every minute here.
I should mention, this hotel is just at the heart of the Old City of Corfu. It is also quite close to the Old Fortress and Casino Corfu. But pay attention! It may seen from the sides like Booking that the hotel has a parking for your car, but actually they don't have. We made 4-5 times around the whole area to be able to find a place for the car and there are no private parking areas either. The rooms have the view of Old Fortress but still I don't think that it is worth that much money.
We stayed whilst on Cricket Tour and loved the Cavalieri. The Roof Terrace restaurant in the evening is unbeatable. The staff are efficient, warm and hospitable. We will be returning to this great location in Corfu Town .
Stayed here for two nights last week and had an enjoyable stay. Comfortable rooms, although quite basic. Breakfast was very poor and the ground floor bar is pretty poor, not a place I'd want to stay in for long. Ordered a glass of white wine and a load of black stuff came out of the bottle - not impressed. As a base this place is fine, great location, friendly service, clean rooms. There are so many places within a short walk for food and drinks so i'd recommend staying here but eating and drinking elsewhere.
Friends recommended this hotel as one of their favourites. I then read lots of horrifying reviews so I was dying to find out the truth. I've not yet completed my 1-night stay (Corfu is an out-of-season pit-stop for me as I'm travelling from Lefkáda to Manchester) but so far I'm quite happy. The room is clean, hotel characterful, furnishings of good quality, comfy beds. Quaint 4-person lift. No tea and coffee facilities in the room so I tried the rooftop but that was shut when I went up there at 3pm (April). So I went downstairs, no staff at the bar so I popped to the bar next door to fetch a take-away coffee. It's 25C today so I have the windows open. There's a rather annoying traffic cop directing traffic with a whistle 100m away. In short, so far so good, and I'd be happy to come again.
We stayed at Hotel Cavalieri for a week and WILL NEVER RETURN. We've lived (15 years) and travelled extensively through Greece (for the last 20 years), but never have we be made to feel as bad as we did at this hotel. This is the first time I've actually written a review - that's saying something. Location was good (for evening strolls) although parking/traffic is a nightmare. 1) BEWARE of the older staff who work there (in particular TAKI - who we would see most mornings in the breakfast room). He is rude, has no respect for guests (especially children, he actually made me cry) and is an embarrassment to the industry and Greeks in general. 2) Our second bad experience was during drinks at the roof top bar. We were told by yet again, another older waiter, that we could not take photo's of the view as it would disturb the other guests (2 tables - out of 30). My daughter (7 years old) was so upset over this. They honestly did not care. We took photo's (as 'permission' was given by a younger waiter), whilst the older waiters gave us dirty looks. They actually need to get a grip in there, There are many other old town hotels, I highly recommend you avoid Cavalieri and support another hotel that can show some common decency. PS - there is no mobile phone coverage in the rooms ! Internet (in the rooms) is also poor.
First things first, the location is great. However, back rooms have little or no view. The building is in urgent need of a full renovation. The elevator is tiny and old. The decoration a bit outdated for my taste. As for the rooms, the furniture was old and worn, there were ants in the bathroom, and there was a really dangerous 30cm level difference between the main room and the balcony doors, and another one from there to the balcony floor (see photo). There were absolutely no sockets in the room, except for the TV and bedside lamps, which we had to unplug in order to charge our phones. The breakfast buffet was really mediocre, nothing to remind a 4-star hotel.
beenthere with my friends, it is located centraly on the front squear of the city , many bars a round , eveythink on a walkeble distance , was perfect for us. we did need to call a cup and we were few steps away of the bars:)
