points to note, there are lots of steps, and i mean lots ,saying that the paving is all porcelain, beautiful oak colour,we had a few thunderstorms whilst we where their, plenty of room to accommodate everyone, sat in comfortable room with very modern comfortable relaxing chairs, and large tv ,the food was fantastic, served with a great atmosphere and everything you could want,(my mrs is fussy and even she ate more than at home haha) drinks are the usual local brew, but bearable. night life was a bit scarce but the disco had everyone and I mean everyone on their feet, great to see every nation dancing on the same dance floor, rooms cleaned every day to a very high standard, must say the pool was very cold,Ive worked in snow warmer, but what would you expect at this time of year, over all the hotel is vary modern and comfortable ,clean and with great staff in the restaurant is really modern and clean the staff are A1 ,we had had 3 holidays this year and this is the best, thank you all for our experience and believe me you could moan if you like but your just not the as me who came back with a top top experience
On arrival, everything was as expected following previous reviews. Our room was clean and comfortable, with an unexpected seaview, which was great. Unfortunately, the bathroom had an awful smell of sewage, which we realised that by placing a plastic beaker over the shower waste helped to reduce the odour. Not ideal, but made the smell bearable. Food was acceptable, but did become very monotonous so we ended up eating out on quite a few occasions. Not saying the food was at all bad, but just too samey for us. The selection of desserts was impressive as were the salads, etc, just the main hot dishes were a little too similar each night - have to say though, the chefs did very well with the ingredients he had available. Limited sun loungers - and although there are notices saying you must not reserve them people do so and on several occasions we could not enjoy the pool by the bar whilst the loungers lay empty (with towels on). The views from the pool bar terrace are amazing! Alcohol is plentiful, but not of a very good standard. For us, less is more. We'd rather quality than quantity, so perhaps all inclusive isn't really for us? The hotel is generally very clean and well looked after. Our room was serviced every day. Our biggest problem, one which the hotel has no control over, was the mosquitoes! We had no prior information regarding the severity of the problem. My husband had several bites but they obviously preferred me as I had over forty bites! A local shopkeeper very kindly went to a local chemist to get medication for me, but unfortunately by then I was suffering considerable discomfort. The people of Agios Georgios are amazing and very hospitable. The staff at Porto Demo were all very professional and a real credit to the hotel. The steps are plentiful, but it is set in a bay so to be expected. Enjoy the views, take plenty of precautions re mosquitoes and have fun!
First thing to say about this hotel is if you have knee or breathing problems or are infirm, this is NOT the hotel for you. There are numerous steps everywhere and no lifts. The steps when wet can be very slippery. We were in a deluxe sea view room which was anything but deluxe except for the views. The room was sparsely furnished. Although the shower was large, the bathroom itself was very small. The door could not be fully opened and banged into the toilet constantly. The bed was hard. The towels were of an inferior quality and only changed every other day if we were lucky. We originally had 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels but once changed we were reduced to 1 hand towel. The sheets were only changed once in our 10 day stay. The rooms were not cleared very thoroughly and we were subjected to an 'express clean' on a couple of occasions which only consisted of the bins being emptied, new toilet roll and clean towels. Pool towels were charged at a deposit of 10 euros with a daily cleaning charge of 1 euro. We opted to buy our own towel from the little supermarket up the road for 6 euros. The food was ok but very often cold or lukewarm although dishes were always replenished when running low. The fresh fruit always looked nice. The all inclusive drinks consisted of local spirits and just 4 cocktails which didn't change. There was however always lager, wine and soft drinks for self service. The beach is in a nice bay and less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. If you are looking for a busy, bustling resort then don't come here as there is nothing to do. The hotel is very quiet with no organised activities so if you are looking for a quiet relaxing hotel then this could be right for you. The internet only worked for the first half of the week. When we questioned this at reception we were told it was an issue with the supplier and would be on the next day. It didn't however. Would we come here again, Corfu probably, this hotel, no.
We arrived at our hotel on and we had paid extra for a river pool room, after seeing the pictures we thought it was a must-have upgrade. When we was shown to our room we couldn’t help but feel disappointed, it wasn’t like the pictures on the website. The room did not have the views and wasn’t as big as shown. Nobody showed us around the hotel so we was left to find the bar, restaurant, pools etc. Ourselves. We was disappointed with how far away our room was from the bar and restaurant, there definitely needed to be a pool bar at the bottom pool, because as I drink cocktails I had to go all the way to the top bar for a drink as the restaurant bar was self serve for beer and wine, there was never anybody there to make you a drink. The food was not to a standard which you’d expect for a “4*” very repetitive, cold, and wasps on the food and swimming in the honey. Many times the beans and chips were freezing cold. The best part about the food was the fresh bread, and the restaurant staff - they were really friendly and consistent. The all inclusive drinks menu was limited, especially the cocktails. The ‘snack’ bar, was not a snack bar. They were cheese and ham sandwiches made with stale bread on the bar, that is all for the snacks. Our main issue with this hotel was the fact our room flooded, twice. We had a day and 2 nights of thunderstorms. When we woke up one morning we woke up to water all over the floor and mud/sand in the bathroom. Also water coming through the walls next to plug sockets which was very unsafe. We went to reception with videos and pictures of our room and we was basically told ‘what do we expect’ and was told they would sent the maids up when it stopped raining, 4 hours later the maids arrived, unknowingly to them our room was flooded. They went down to reception to see if we could move rooms, because it was that bad. The lady came back and told us there was no spare rooms and they just had to mop it up. (I don’t believe there was not one spare room). They tidied our room, then the next morning having had rain again all night, we woke up to a flooded room yet again. 2 days we had to sit and deal with a flooded room, it is not what we expect when we have paid such a lot of money for this certain room. We went down to reception again and they miraculously swapped our room- which was much nicer (the room was the ones advertised on the pictures, which we expected to be in from the beginning!). During the thunderstorms and rain the steps down from the restaurant were really dangerous, they were so slippy they barely had any handrails to hold onto. We unpacked and got settled in our new room, we had showers ready for the evening and realised NO towels, none at all. We were left 2 days without towels in our room. The bed in the room was so squeaky and noisy it was almost unbearable to sleep in as it woke you up every time you moved. There was only entertainment on once the whole week we was there, the rest of the time there was no atmosphere at the pool bar, no music or anything. The WiFi was shocking, didn’t work at all so don’t expect that. When we checked out we weren’t even asked if everything was ok with our stay. The faultless part of this hotel is the views, they really are beautiful. I have never seen a sunset like it which you watch as your eating dinner, it was amazing. Unfortunately we was very disappointed with our stay and did not get what we paid for, it is definitely not a 4* hotel.
I stayed at this from 20th till 1st of October. I have to admit that the hotel is very beautiful and the staff very friendly especially the Manager Mr. Skliris. Our room was a bit noisy and after a complaint to him he immediately gave solution to our problem and after 2 hours the next morning we were transfered on another room with even better view. The food was exceptional and it was original Greek and delicious. We will definitely come back thank you for everything.
The hotel itself looks good and the rooms look good, first impressions were ok. There are just too many steps not to bad to the restaurant but to get to the pool and pool bar was like climbing a mountain but once there the view is great. The pool is just too small and there were not enough sun beds, we had to share a bed on our one and only visit. The second pool was even smaller, we did not visit this at all. Thank goodness for the beach it was absolutely gorgeous. Our room was only cleaned once in a week at this time they did not change the towels, we asked about this and they said they would be back with the towels, no one came, we had to ask again the next day. Glasses and cups were not cleaned at all. Nearly all the food was terrible at lunch at lunch and dinner, always cold, but I must say the breakfast was ok as the chef fried the eggs in front of you but that was the only thing that was good. We ate out most days. WiFi was non existent. I do not recommend this hotel but the area is gorgeous.
Porto Demo Boutique hotel has fantastic views from the poolside bar, which really make the hotel. However, upon our stay at the hotel the pool bar was hardly open - although this wasn’t helped by the weather, as we unfortunately had some rain, there were times were it was perfectly dry, but it still remained closed. It also stated there would be entertainment on 3 nights of the week, we stayed 3 nights and didn’t see any form of entertainment. We stayed from Thursday to Sunday too, so I’m surprised to have not seen anything over a weekend. We learnt however that you can go across to the sister hotel, although nobody from the hotel actually advised us of this. There was a better vibe in the other hotel, although their canteen smelt like a wet dog. The food quality was good, but there was a lack of choice - you could easily get bored if staying here longer than a few days after seeing bolognese on the menu for the third night in a row! ‘Sandwiches’ on the snack menu were very disappointing - choice of Ham or ham, so not great if you’re a vegetarian. As for the cakes and biscuits, there weren’t any! All in all the food was disappointing. All inclusive drinks were ok, with a choice of 4 ‘cocktails’, alcohol, carbonated mixer and grenadine basically. WiFi was a joke, and didn’t work for the duration of the time we were there - after complaining at reception we were told it was our phones that was the issue, although it quite clearly stated that they hadn’t paid the internet bill in over 15 days and that’s why it had been disconnected. Hotel rooms were nicely presented, clean and we had towels on the beds upon check in, but towels wasn’t changed during our three night stay. I would say make sure you bring mosquito spray as there were lots of mosquitos due to the area. There is a shop a stones throw from the hotel that sells a 5 Euro plug in mosquito repellent, I can only recommend purchasing. There are a lot of steps as the hotel is built upon a hill, like most of the hotels in the area, so if you struggle with your knees probably best to avoid - but again the views are very much worth the stairs! There isn’t too much to do in the local area, but there are tavernas and some little shops. You can catch a bus into Corfu town which takes around an hour and a half, but we rented a car which was cheap and allowed us to see the island. Overall hotel was ok, beautiful views but lacks the attention to detail to be a 5 star hotel.
After an hour and a half transfer from the airport we were glad to arrive at the Hotel, booking in was quick but no information was given. Our room was up quite a few steps and my husband struggled carrying the cases up, the views from our room were lovely overlooking the beach. Rooms were basic but clean was nice to have a kettle and fridge in the room but could do with more storage, Also had to go back down to reception as no towels in the room, the young lad said have you looked in your bathroom ! All meals were buffet style not a great variety so we ate out few nights to get a hot meal, but the views were stunning overlooking the bay. The upper pool was 114 steps from reception so don't come here if you have mobility issues, quite a few people slipped on the steps, Upper pool was freezing and deep I couldn't reach the bottom. Staff were not as friendly as past experience don't know if it was communication , but they tried to be helpful. Just by chance we found out we could use the Hotel next door which had better entertainment ,food was the same though. Beach was only a 2 minute walk sun beds varied in price but most were 7 euros for 2 with parasol, the sea was a lot warmer than the pool at hotel. Be aware as the sand sloops down as you enter the sea. This is not a 4 star hotel
Visited here 26th Sept - 3rd Oct. Quite late when we arrived so couldn't see a lot. Morning arrives and we were in a deluxe garden room (well that's what it's advertised as). We were right next to the public area by the main restaurant, the noise from outside on our first two nights was horrendous. I had to phone reception to get them to do something about it. Complained the next day to manager, said he would fix it and to come back later. When we did he passed the buck to the girl on reception. In fairness there were no more noisy nights. Onto the hotel itself the views from the top pool bar were absolutely gorgeous . The pool was also good bit chilly but good. I prefer swimming in the sea, we went to the beach a few times, the water was lovely and the beach was big and clean. Only two minutes from the hotel. Don't think there are enough sunbeds for the hotel, there is room for more. The bar staff at the pool bar were first class and couldn't have been any nicer. The waiting staff were friendly and pleasant also. I though the quality of food was good but the choice was very poor, it was also only lukewarm most of the time. Entertainment was mixed thought the DJ Night was a really good one. All in all we enjoyed our week, despite the few faults iv'e mentioned. Don't rate it as four star. Would we go back, Corfu yes. This hotel probably not.
On arrival with 4 other people we were told the rooms had been double booked and were taken to an inferior room in the sister hotel.Next day we were given another room with a leaking toilet and a small pool was a constant refilling waterfall all day and night. Also a 100 steps up from reception.Third time lucky on 3rd room but no sea view. The only good side the restaurant was well run .Very disappointed by the holiday
