When I booked two nights at the Ascot, I did not expect to be sent to a tired room halfway down the street. When I raised this with reception and asked for a room in the actual hotel, I was told the hotel was full. There is no warning that guests will be shunted off to an apartment. If I wanted room service, I would stay in a 'hotel'. If I wanted self catering I'd go to airbnb.

We stayed for a few nights and on arrival the hotel looks really good from the outside and the communal areas are also tastefully decorated. Unfortunately the first room we were given looked tired and was dirty. We had paid extra for a superior room so were expecting something a little bit special. Unfortunately we actually got an old room with a very dusty kitchenette, mould growing in the seals in the bathroom and a bed that looked really poor. On raising this with reception they were very hateful and actually all staff were extremely polite and helpful throughout our stay. We were told that the extra money for a superior room was for extra space and that those rooms could accommodate more people. I don’t think anyone spends extra money on a superior room just thinking you are paying extra for space, they expect a ‘superior’ quality of room that comes from decoration, facilities and general presentation. I then looked around a few other rooms but they all looked pretty tired except a couple that had new bathrooms but the beds still looked very dated. Thankfully on seeing I wasn’t particularly happy the staff kindly upgraded us to one of the rooms on the 4th floor which was fantastic. A lovely modern suite decorated in Danish style with a fantastic bathroom. In fact the bedroom was better than some of the rooms I’ve stayed in when booking a 5 star hotel. It was also lovely and clean and had white company toiletries. The staff said in future it’s best to book either one of those rooms or a ground floor room as they are also newly refurbished. I would advise others to take this advice as the old rooms are pretty bad. Having stayed in many 4 star hotels the old rooms aren’t even worthy of a 3 star rating. As I said the actual building and all communal areas are lovely and it was great to sit in the reception area relaxing. The breakfast was very average ... not enough local produce and very basic food. The presentation of the food was quite poor and not kept tidy. Overall I’d say this is a 3 star hotel with lots of potential but the old rooms do not reflect the lovely building and I actually felt sorry for the staff because I’m sure lots of customers must complain about the rooms.

My Husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel The staff were friendly and service was quick. The location of the Ascot is convenient to Copenhagen central station and Tivolli Garden. We hope to stay here again in the near future. We both had a great time In Copenhagen.

Hotel has ideal location, perfect for walking in the Centre, and Ideal for transport links. Bedroom ticked all boxed, but the furnishings were tired. Would definitely stay again, as very convenient. Be careful using luggage store, not the most secure system...

Stayed here 4 nights. A good experience from check in to check out. The staff were efficient and courteous. Ascot Hotel is within easy walking distance of Central Station and a variety of sightseeing attractions. Close to shopping streets, restaurants, bars, parks, canals. The rooms are reasonable in size and the hallways, etc. appear to have been redecorated recently. Could do with extra storage .. drawers or shelves in bedrooms. Shower room well equipped and spotlessly clean. The fitness suite is excellent. Great for burning off Copenhagen's delicious cuisine. There is a luggage storage facility. We opted to eat out. There are lots of tempting brunch and evening meal cafes to titillate the tastebuds..variety is amazing. We would certainly return to this lovely Hotel.

Pros- location, reception area is nice if you like to spend time in reception lounges! Cons- unfriendly and cold staff, very tired and old bedrooms, bathrooms are v bad - really need a freshen up, no tea or cold coffee making facilities in the bedrooms, coffee out of a little machine at breakfast, one lift which takes an age to get to you, limited cable channels, strange thing of having two single duvets on a double bed (not sure why?) I would avoid this hotel and pay a little extra to get a better experience. This hotel lacks even the basics that budget hotels have. wish I had paid more attention to the reviews that I read on here, big mistake!

We had a 3 night stay at the Ascot Hotel. It is in walking distance of the central station so you can reach the hotel within 20 minutes from the airport. The hotel has a restaurant but no bar; you can order a drink at the reception to enjoy in the lobby. Our room was not very big, but very well equipped and very clean. It offered all amenities I would expect in this kind of hotel. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Check-in and -out didn't take more than 5 minutes.

Nice hotel in a great location in the city center. Just a block from Tivoli & within walking distance to many other attractions. The tour bus also picks up around the corner. The room was clean and comfortable. We wished there was more lighting in the sitting area at the end of the bed, but bedside lighting was fine. We also wished there were more towel hooks. There were only 2 so there wasn't even one for the hand towel. Breakfast was included with our room and was delicious and very substantial. It definitely kept us going until an early dinner.

My boyfriend took me away on a surprise romantic trip to Copenhagen. He chose The Ascot hotel as they rate themselves 4 star. The location and design of the building are quite impressive however they made some pretty basic errors in planning and designing the location and furnishings of the rooms. We are staying in the newly refurbished wing which seems to be located under the breakfast hall as I was abruptly woken up at 6 something in the morning to the loud dragging and banging of furniture....this is extremely annoying when trying to relax and sleep. However the thing that really caused me to question logic is...we have a double bed and we were given two single blankets!!! WHO HAS EVER BOUGHT A DOUBLE BED AND THOUGHT...I KNOW LET ME PUT TWO SINGLE BLANKETS ON TOP OF IT.....IT'S REDICULOUS!!!! As a couple this is very inconvenient I want to sleep under the same duvet as my partner not under my own separate blanket....we are not new born babies. When I raised this to staff they said it was a mistake but that's just how it is and there was nothing they could do about it...well I beg to differ....you can go out and buy double DUVETS for your guest staying in rooms with double beds... or don't they sell those in Denmark? I'm pretty sure if I went to a normals person house and they had a double bed they would have a double duvet to....so why on earth wouldn't 4 star hotel, this is what you do...it's your job...so the fact this hasn't been figured out is beyond me. We are here until Monday....feel free to buy a proper double blanket for our bed....this is basic request that I shouldn't even have to ask or suggest...it's just common sense!!! In addition rooms are way smaller then they look in pictures, but on a plus....they are decorated nicely and the staff are friendly....just sort the bedding out!!!

Varasimme huoneen Hotel Ascotista viettääksemme pitkän helmikuisen viikonlopun Kööpenhaminassa. Hotellin sisäänkäynti ja eteisaula olivat kauniit ja remontoidut. Henkilökunta oli ystävällistä, sisäänkirjaus nopeaa ja tunsimme itsemme tervetulleiksi Kävi kuitenkin ilmi, että hotel Ascotin sijaan huoneemme olisikin Ascot apartmentsin puolella (Tarkistin varauksemme, jossa selvästi lukee HOTEL ASCOT, ei mitään mainintaa Ascot apartmentsista). No, sisäänkäynti oli erillinen, kadun puolelta. We booked a room from the Ascot Hotel to spend a long weekend in Copenhagen. The entrance and the main hall were beautiful. Staff was friendly and polite, checking in was fast and we felt welcome when arriving. However, we found out that instead of having a room in HOTEL Ascot, our room was in Ascot apartments (I checked our reservation which clearly noted Hotel Ascot without a single word of apartments). The apartments had a separate entrance from the street. The elevator was tiny; only one person with larger luggage could fit in. The apartment was large with small hallway, separate toiled and bathroom, living room, kitchen corner and a bedroom. The temperature in the apartment stayed chilling even though we set the radiators as warm as possible. The brown carpet and furniture were worn and outdated. Cleaning service worked well and the bed was OK. If you want a four star hotel room, book from another hotel or at least make sure your room is in the hotel instead of the apartments! We estimate the apartment side to be only up to two stars. However, the location is great; train station, Tivoli area and shopping streets only a short walk away. The street was quiet but note that opposite to the hotel/apartments there is a music venue "pumpehuset" which you hear loud and clear at the weekend evenings if your room/apartment is located on the street side. It did not bother us but do pack your ear plugs with you if you get annoyed by the noise and end up having an apartment at the street side.
