The Ascot superior double has more space(Room 317) than the Kong Arthur(better layout)The bathroom and storage area is away (separate)from the sleep area. The Ascot bathroom is much better than the Kong Arthur( in terms of amenities and design). If you point the shower at the sink,it will leak ...in both hotels.Visually, about 18 x 12 sleeping area, and twin beds put together (not King as we asked).Totally silent,no street noise.Breakfast was bigger than Kong Arthur, and much more client space.Staff was very good(except one night desk staff who needed a tune-up).My suggestions...Make sure you enjoy the breakfast, check your shower positions before you turn it on,and organize your storage solutions before you start to relax.Find the nearest Netto,to get booze, and enjoy the small walk,as it is perfectly safe. The location is perfect to central Kobenhavn, and you can drag your luggage in 5 minutes ,from the central rail station.Just do it.Bottom line ...Ascot deserves 4-5,on the third floor...staff were excellent and caring.
The Ascot Hotel is centrally located. Quiet and comfortable. My single room (room 401) has a full size bed and was comfortable. A separate door to the sleeping area kept any unwanted noises out. The room has 2 large windows facing the center courtard and opened allowing the autumn breezes. The full bath has a large bath and shower. The room rate included breakfast which was fresh and enjoyable. I would definately stay here again.
Ascot hotel is located in a historical building. Decir of this building is very nice and warm. However based on the price charged by them facilities are limited, rooms are a bit compact and not spaciously designed.they could have hired. Better interior designer. I have stayed in similar priced hotel across Scandinavia with much more better facilities like availability of tea or coffee 24/7 along with some cookies, heated floor , etc don't cost much though, which was a disappointment in ascot hotel.so that's it . Els location is nice and quiet.
I took a group of ten and some stayed at the Apartments next door where you have to carry bags up to the first floor. I had a single room with a kitchen and everything I needed. Plenty of choice for breakfast
Positive- our room was clean, included breakfadt buffet was good Negative-no air conditioning and the windows only opened a few inches which was not enough to let air in. We did request and get a fan the second night. The elevator broke and we had to carry bags 3 floors
There was brown water leaking from the bathroom ceiling, right where you would stand in front of the sink/mirror. It dropped on my shirt. A guy came up and said he knew just what it was (they had been experiencing flooding), but there were no other rooms available. We could either be moved to a new hotel or get the room free of charge. The kids were already asleep, so we chose to stay and use my mom's bathroom down the hall to get ready for our flight in the morning. It was hot, so the window had to be open, but it was also right across from a loud concert venue. We had people barfing underneath our window at fun hours. Then they charged us for the room anyway, and when we tried to call to correct it, we weren't able to get a return call. Front desk was consistently rude and unhelpful. You can do much better for the price in Copenhagen. Pass.
DISHONEST!!!!!!! My entire family of 11 people stayed at the Ascot Copenhagen. Their website pictures are LIES! What you see is NOT what you get. There was an UNHEALTHY toilet leak from the room above in the bathroom of one of our rooms that management was aware of before our arrival. When we complained they told us we wouldn't have to pay for that room (we had four) and the people staying in that room were forced to use the bathrooms in another room. A few days after our departure the Ascot took it upon themselves to charge my credit card an additional $350. I didn't see the charge until it was too late for my bank to block it. My many phone calls and emails were ignored. They INTENTIONALLY screwed me out of $350. In addition...there was no A/C so we had to open the windows. The problem is that, directly across the street, was loud outdoor rock band that played into the wee hours complete with barfing and fighting drunks wandering around directly under our open window. The bathrooms were full of mildew and the beds were horrid. NEVER AGAIN!
Disaster from the moment we entered. After a long 23 hour flight arrived early and checked our bags in and were asked to return several hours later as no rooms available. No problem and understood. Upon return several hours later they said that they were giving us an upgrade to an apartment in a block down the road from the hotel and we though great. Upon arrival and a struggle up several flights of stairs as there was no porter we opened the door to find a old very dusty apartment with torn curtains in every room as well as blood and stains on the lounge and a thick coating of dust everywhere. As well there was no airconditioning and heating did not work. We quickly went back to reception and said we would like to have the superior room we paid for in the main hotel and were informed that they had none. They then offered the penthouse apartment in the same block and so decided to have a look. Reception opened the door and not only was there somebody else staying in the room but it was completely the same as the other room but another floor up and with no cover in the pouring rain. The gentleman at reception apologised and said that his own mum would not tolerate these apartments and said that he would speak to management and see if we could get a decent room in another hotel as they had had a water problem and therefore there were al lot of rooms unavailable. He requested that we return to our room and he promised that he would get back to us as soon as possible. Of course we never heard a word. Reception were hopeless and looked at us blankly with no communication whatsoever. Deciding not to let it spoil our holiday we had no choice but to stay as we had already paid our travel agent otherwise we would have walked out. The next morning at breakfast we met another Australian couple who had the same experience but insisted that they be given the room in the main hotel. They were disgusted in the apartments and said there was no way they were staying in one. Lucky for them it was cleaner although really old. They were concerned that they had a business couple meeting them who were used to a better standard hotel and with a porter at least when there is no lift. The following morning when we were leaving the hotel two women from the States were fuming as they had been short shifted to the apartments and were wheeling their luggage back to the main hotel to complain and said there was ''no way" they were staying there, as well they had paid even more than us and expected a 4 star experience. Obviously the hotel was overbooked and was sending everyone to these shabby apartments. My advice to anyone that although the main dining area has been renovated along with only 13 rooms out of 200 and location is central do not stay here at all costs. Look elsewhere as even if you have paid for a renovated room you will be more than likely given another room. Probably the worst hotel experience were have encountered and we have been travelling for years.
We stayed in this hotel previously and enjoyed the experience. However this visit could not have been more different. The 'double' room was so small it was like a box room with two sloping coombed ceilings which made it impossible to stand up to get into the extra small bed. This should not be advertised as a double room as only a very small person could stay here. On telling staff of our disappointment we were told that our previous stay must have been an 'upgrade'. At no time were we informed of this. It spoiled our short city break in what is a beautiful city.
Old Hotel with a hodge podge of rooms. The one you get will be far less than what you see on the internet. We requested in advance no stairs or few stairs due to a mobility issue. Not honored I insisted and was reluctantly changed to a room with not too many stairs as far away in the building as possible. Long walk, stairs, odd doors, quite the rabbit warren. The room was not at all what I would call a superior double and certainly not the triple (with a couch and bed) that we had booked. Poor design, almost no storage, no dresser. The 2 people before me were complaining about their rooms. One man was showing pictures on his iphone that the room he booked was quite a dump compared to what he received. Nods, smiles, apologies to each person who came up with concerns. No resolution. There is no one to take your luggage to your room and it is a large hotel. Stairs, stairs, stairs. The shower is ridiculous and floods the entire bathroom each time, no matter how you try to keep the water out from under the large gaps on all shower walls and at floor level. No shower chair for mobility impaired. "we don't have any kind of aids for people." I can't say enough about how you should stay elsewhere. Good location, pick a nearby hotel, not this one!
