The room was clean and super cozy, complimentary items were amazing, hosts even shoveled a foot of snow in the dark to make it easier for us to check in. 10/10 experience
Staff was amazing. They walked us to our room, showed us how things worked, and answered all our qurstions. The room was quite cozy and spacious. The only complaint I had was it was cold. The heat was working but I guess with below 0 temperatures nothing stays warm for long. Although there was about 2' of snow on the floor, the grounds/set up was a great place for large gatherings. I definitely recommend it
I wish I had read the google review below before booking my two-night stay. Unfortunately, it seems many reviews artificially inflate this sub-par motel into something resembling a “boutique hotel.”
"Motel 6 quality hotel being marketed as a Boutique hotel.
Review of The Alander
Reviewed Oct 31, 2025 via mobile
" To call this hotel a boutique hotel is a disgrace. It was one of the worst hotels we have stayed in. After you book, you get a nice welcome text message but you soon realize it is a one way communication. We had booked two rooms. They send you a code to unlock the electronic keypad. They sent the code for only one room. There is no reception. So I tried to call the number, goes straight to VM. It says there is phone number AFTER you have checked in the room. Since we had access to one room, we went in and got the phone number and it went straight into the same VM. Finally the restaurant opened and someone there was able to get in touch with Heckle and Seckel to get us the code for the second room.
The bathtub was filthy. I have pictures. It was not stains, just dirty. The roof tiles had spots all over it. And they have the gall to suggest leaving a tip for the housekeeping.
This hotel looks like the hourly motel room trying to be presented as a boutique hotel."
I completely agree with their reviews, but unfortunately I read them too late, after already falling for this place.

The Alander was a great find! Clean, cozy and super comfortable beds. We loved the complimentary local tea, yogurt and granola. I especially appreciated the maps with local places to explore and the host’s suggestions for activities. I hope I will be able to return in the summer to enjoy the outdoor spaces and the fire pit. Thank you for a great stay!

The Alander has such a fun story, and was a great stay. We were just passing through for the night and it had everything we could need! It reminded me of Rosebud Motel group from Schitts Creek ;) if you know you know! Will definitely be staying again!
My wife and I randomly picked The Alander because we needed a last minute escape after sadly losing our 16 year old dog. I cannot say enough about not just the courtesy, kindness, and efficiency of literally all staff we interacted with, but also how terrifically designed and clean the facilities are. The restaurant and bar attached are top notch as well, and hav eclearly become a destination spot for the local area. Reid, one of the owners, is a great conversationalist, and incredibly attentive to guest's needs. We encountered numerous guests who were also thoroughly impressed with the grounds and facilities and restaurant/bar. We will absolutely be returning. 5 stars.
The staff and owner were so accommodating and friendly
The food was incredible!!
Who knew I’d find an amazing dinner at the inn I booked to sleep? I extended my stay cuz it was so great !! 💕LOVED IT!!
One bed had previous guest’s makeup on the bed sheets. Bathroom door was very hard to open and close. Black paint scraping off in the bathroom. Mattress wasn’t comfortable, was sinking. Overall, a decent stay with a lot of potential! The restaurant was the highlight. Very delicious food for both dinner and brunch.
We found the Alander to be way more than we expected. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was incredible. The restaurant on the premises was amazing. We had a great meal and the service was both friendly and efficient. We will probably be back when we are in the area. We highly recommend this property!
