Flower Road Villa with Sri Lanka Contemporary Art & Architecture Experiences

The larger house was built in the late 1960’s. In fact, numbers 1, 1A, 1B (this building) and 1C were equal sized plots and all these houses were built around this period. In the 1960’s Flower Road was a quiet tree-lined avenue as most of Colombo 7 was at that time. Now, this area is categorised as special prime residential and as a result, there is a ban on any high-rise buildings. Sights such as the Colombo Museum, Viharamahadevi Park, Gangaramaya Temple, Galle Face Green etc are all close by. Some of the best restaurants, cafes and shops are also within walking distance or a short drive away - Commons, Cricket Club, Park Street Mews, Cinnamon Grand restaurants, Commons, Cricket Club, Mango Tree, Gallery Cafe, Barefoot etc.

We had a wonderful stay at the Flower Road Villa! There are three bedrooms upstairs with king beds and en suite bathrooms; this is the space with air conditioning. The living areas downstairs are spacious and take advantage of indoor/outdoor continuity. The location was quiet and well situated to get around Colombo. Most impressively the staff was fantastic. They are on site 24 hrs per day and can prepare homemade meals using organic produce when requested. The staff was so helpful with my elderly parents / helping them up the stairs and making sure they felt comfortable. We plan to stay here next time we are back in Colombo.
