We spent 3 days at the hotel,l was so impressed with friendly staff nothing was to much trouble. Rooms were clean and bright a nicely decorated. The complimentary breakfast was excellent so much choice. We had 2 evenings meal at the inn and wasn’t disappointed with any of them. I would recommend this holiday inn express as lm not easily pleased and l certainly was there.5*
My evening meal was good,limited choice but as a couple of pensioners we found something we liked

The beer was cold and breakfast hot! Helpful and friendly, chatty staff. There’s a Waitrose next to the hotel for any bits & bobs you might need during your stay. Breakfast had a fair variety including make-your-own pancakes and lots of breads/pastries. Choice of non-dairy milks including oat and almond. Good overall.

Good value for money as the hotel is in a handy location on the Ipswich to Colchester road. Excellent for an overnight stay when visiting relatives in the area. Haven’t stayed for a while and was surprised that the ample parking is now chargeable £8/night - unless you sign up to IHG rewards programme.

I was given a room where the heating didn’t work and also the phone didn’t work to tell the staff. I felt poorly and this was the last thing I needed particularly when my room was the furthest it could be from the reception. I got moved rooms where not only did the heating not work again but it was on full blast cold so was noisy too. I was too poorly to change rooms again so I put earplugs in and got in bed. When I got up the next morning to leave, the door had been ajar all night because it doesn’t shut properly unless you push it very hard. Great! I told the receptionist Rachel the next day and she was lovely about it and said to get in touch with hotels.com to get a refund. However the hotel are refusing to give any compensation at all. I would give no stars for this hotel stay if I could.
