Had a wonderful stay at Taj Surya for a single night this month with my family. The hotel is located in a quiet and prime locality. The room was very spacious with all amenities. Buffet breakfast was very good with wide spread. Staff's are very friendly. Much recommended for Coimbatore city. Really enjoyed the stay.
Writing this review specifically to highlight the excellent food prepared by Chef Ajit that was a special dish catering to my requirements. It was a Tex-Mex dish that normally does not appear in any menu in India, but Chef Ajit ensured a great dish that surpassed my expectations. Keep up the GREAT WORK Chef! Recommendation to anybody who wants to have great food - please ask for Chef Ajit and he will for sure make your taste buds tingle with his creations.
Disappointed that a hotel advertised by Hotel.Com as 5 star was so disappointing. As you can see the bathroom was dirty and the bedside cabinet had marks-and we were consistently bitten in the bedroom by bugs. There was not an attitude of excellence and this was illustrated by the fact that the male staff had uniforms that were usually too small. Western prices charged but leaves you underwhelmed.
stayed for 1 night at Taj Coimbatore .Located in a quiet locality the hotel offers great facilities for dining as well as recreation .At the buffet dinner of a conference the menu highlight was the live station churning out Dosas .Soft inside with crispy outer later it was a treat .The breakfast spread was good too .
Had barbecue at the open air restaurant at Taj Vivanta 'Smoke on the Water' The ambience was great... The food was tasty but the Indian bread was not up to the mark. The restaurant overlooks the Race Course. Valet parking was a respite but they were not very professional...
I was on a business trip to Coimbatore and stayed in this hotel for one week. This seems to be little old property but no major issues as such. Rooms are quite spacious and clean. Bathroom is average to small in size. Staff there is quite helpful in nature. Food is ok but not great! Buffet Breakfast has good options but not many North Indian dishes. I tried their Dal Khichdi and it was really awesome. Rest all is ok. Overall it's a good place to stay!
Location and property is good. Experienced good hospitality by the staff. Higher floor rooms have good city view. Food quality is good but not the best and is damn expensive. Cannot be compared to other Taj properties.
As befitting the Vivanta brand, it is a good business hotel and the "Tajness" is not what you can expect at one of their luxury properties. But then, the prices are very different too. The room was fairly spacious and well appointed as was the bathroom, in keeping with Taj standards. (why is it that, while giving you good toiletries, they expect you to ask for a shaving kit? ). They have a rather nice bar which has a good collection of Indian and imported drinks. I particularly liked the cocktails. I could not try the Chinese restaurant but had all my meals at latitude, the multi-cuisine restaurant. While food on the the al la cart and room service menus was good, despite the slow service, the buffets were another matter altogether. The breakfast buffet was ok but lunch and dinner was pedestrian and the taste buds were not impressed at all ! The service was good.
I stayed here for 3 full weeks on business and I could not be happier with my choice to stay at the Vivanta by Taj. All of the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. They knew me after a couple days and made it apparent that they really cared about the well being of their guests. The food was always delicious. The morning buffet had everything you would like, both western foods as well as Classic Indian cuisines. For dinner all three restaurants were appetizing in their own way. I especially enjoyed Smoke on the Water. The mutton was one of my favorite dishes and Ajit and his team always made sure that I was taken care of. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Coimbatore in the future, it made my stay as enjoyable as I could have hoped for!
