Stayed here with my mother and my 9 year old son for one night. We had a lovely stay. Rooms are spacious, modern and comfortable. Pool is lovely for a swim. They have a steam room and a jacuzzi. We went to The Kildare Maze nearby which was a fun activity to do. We ate in the bar that night. Food was lovely and service was good. Breakfast the next morning was nice but they were very busy and the young girls working there couldn't really cope. We were shown to a table which hadn't been cleared away so the girl started cleaning and clearing it as we were sitting there. She then proceeded to lay the table and didn't tell us anything about the breakfast. We could only see a cold buffet area so we were unsure if you had to order the hot food. Once we asked, we were told where it was and the man serving the food wasn't very friendly. My son got a fry, brought it back to the table and then went to get toast. When he returned to the table his breakfast had been taken away and we had to queue again for another plate! I said this to one of the senior men working there and he didn't even apologise. Overall the stay was very good except for the breakfast experience.
Westgrove is a large mid-range hotel, which appeared to be popular with several bus tour groups when we visited. Our room was spacious and comfortable, albeit with a small window and limited natural light. Beds were comfortable. Food in the bar was average. A positive note on service: we stayed on a very warm night and room temperature was unusually high. All portable fans had been already borrowed by guests but on hearing my wife was pregnant, one was procured from somewhere and delivered with a smile in under ten minutes.
Lovely base for a family break with plenty to do in the area. Lovely leisure centre with great staff. Breakfast was great, fresh omelettes made to order were delicious. Food in the bar for dinner was super and service was so good, Peter was an excellent server. Would definitely recommend.
Great hotel,.Restaurant staff very friendly, kids club is great for the little ones.Rooms are decent size.food in bar and restaurant was great.they have a kids pool that was enjoyed by my little daughter,I will definitely be back
Arrived to our room and there was a strong smell of smoke. Housekeeping offered to "air" the room but it was so pungent my family didn't want to stay there. We waited a few hours until reception were able to find us another room. It was smaller than the original, we are a family of 4. My husband asked to speak to the manager for 3 days in a row, we are still waiting on him ringing! Reception kept asking my husband if he "still wanted to speak to the manager?". Yes he did and he never got a call. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the staff very attentive. The restaurant Manageress is fabulous and looked after us really well. The bar man was lovely he looked after us however the bar needs to dim the lighting and make it a bit more appealing/cosy. The swimming pool needs a good clean, and the showers in the ladies changing rooms are far from clean. Very poor leisure standard for a hotel with a large number of guests using the facilities. We were a bit disappointed over all in the hotel and would find it hard to recommend it. Just a few small changes would make all the difference.
I was at a wedding here over the weekend, I booked two rooms, service was good as usual. My nephew wanted to play a prank on us and wanted to get into our room, I was astonished and frankly annoyed that he went to reception and got key cards for both rooms. as he told them he was me and that he lost the cards although i was in my room at the time and my card was in the reader for the room.this should have shown on receptions computer. my son and his partner were also in there room. my nephew was not asked for ID, he was not questioned. he could have been anyone, I could have had all my possessions taken not withstanding that, when i checked out the following morning I handed in my original cards and nothing was mentioned about the second set, I still have them as seen in attached photo, I would think if a card is reported lost it would be cancelled immediately so it can't be used, this was not the case here. Guys Please Rethink Your Security Protocols. I simply wouldn't feel safe staying here again.
Fantastic hotel, pleasant friendly staff. Great reception staff, smooth check in and check out. Restaurant staff very friendly and extremely helpful when dealing with families who have smaller children. Leisure facilities were excellent. Rooms were spacious and well laid out, only thing I could fault is that no ironing facilities in the rooms. Overall though it was a great family break and would definitely visit again
Stayed for a friend's wedding. Hotel is modern, very central, plenty of parking. Friendly reception desk, smooth check in, check out. Wedding meal was lovely. Room was perfect. Shower too low for anyone over 5 ft unless you use it hand held. Hard to find your way around with different stairs, lifts etc. which we found confusing. Breakfast waiting staff were friendly and helpful. Lady behind the buffet is like a dragon, older lady who seemed in charge, banging a bell and very abrupt. My husband had to ask for more than one rasher as she serves it up to you and you'd think it was her breakfast she was giving you begrudgingly. Other than that lady I'd recommend and stay again.
Booked an apartment room in the hotel for 4 friends. Looked lovely on the website. Rooms were big and the beds were very comfortable..but.. the kitchen was very badly equipped. No tea towels, glasses, teapot, only 2 knives in fact basically there was a toaster kettle and a few odd plates . Room was very dark and the whole place is in need of total refurbishment. Mahogany wood scratches on the table and chairs and doors, fingerprints everywhere on the glass and in the lift. Carpet in the library worn and loose. Food was average. Paid €24 for breakfast in our room. Only got half the order and had to wait for the other half. Trays in the carvery / breakfast area were worn and the plastic peeling off.. had to wait for eggs pudding mushrooms to be cooked at breakfast. Service was terrible in the bar. Barman could only make 3 or 4 cocktails. Twice they forgot to bring our drinks. Definitely not a 4star hotel. Would give it 2 stars
