The meal that was served was supreme, all the dishes, seafood, meats and the desert were outstanding. The service was top shelf and the staff always went out of their way to be helpful. A lot of the guests were from overseas, India Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, PNG, Australia and New Zealand. Everybody was impressed. Well done to Bloody Mary's.
Part of a hotel chain throughout NZ but first one we stayed in. Large and modern hotel, very clean with friendly staff. Free parking but in high travel season the parking filled up quickly. I found the sheets to be a little rough but the bed was decent. Close to the downtown area and walkable.
A seemingly new hotel adjacent to the city in a relatively quiet part of the city. Easily reached in our hire car using GPS. It does appear that this hotel caters for coach tour groups although this had no effect on our stay. There is ample free on site parking with overflow street parking ( free until 9 am each day) available. This hotel was mid priced, and our room on the fourth floor spacious with nice ranges views. The rooms are standard configuration Easy stroll across parklands to the CBD for eating and sights.
Great service from the team at the Rydgers All the staff could not have been more helpful Room was good. Being able to have a drink outside without smokers is a very smart move Well done If you are going to Christchurch give these guys a call. We walked into the city and only took a couple of minutes
Our stay at the Rydges on Latimer was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary (in fact the evening reception staff was a little on the brusque side of things - sent us to a restaurant that was closed, and when we came back told us “we’ll, the hotel restaurant is fully booked ...” - thankfully there is a brasserie attached to that restaurant, so we still had a nice meal). But otherwise the room was fine (weird placement of the toilet though ...), if not a little on the small side for the price. So ... overall, I didn’t fall in love with the hotel, but it was ok and well located. The brasserie in the hotel lobby has very nice food.
We stay here often when in Chch. Great location with CBD restaurants an easy walk away. Hotel bar and restaurant are also very good. Rooms clean and comfortable. Will keep coming back as normally reasonably priced. Best deal via Expedia this time, but pays to shop around.
All the staff are helpful. Almost all are friendly. Great location to see the earthquake stricken city. The Botanic garden is lovely and free. At the entrance there is the Christchurch Museum... in brief loads to do and see. If you like art, coffee and dining out, C is the place for you. The hotel is simple but high quality - rooms are spacious and well kitted out. The bar is interesting and serves brasserie food. We didn't get to the restaurant but it is extremely well stocked for breakfast. Ask for Express bfast, unless you want a monster bfast. The gym is fine and you can launder your own clothes free. I would visit C and the hotel again
The hotel is well located just a short walk from everything in the city. It's even on the Yellow Bus Route that takes you out to New Brighton beach in about 30 minutes. The rooms are nice, but there isn't much of view from this location. The staff was friendly and did what they needed to do very effectively. There really aren't too many options in the CBD area, but this one is one of the best. We only ate at the restaurant for lunch once and it wasn't one I'd recommend. Overpriced and slow service.
We stayed here for 2 nights had a deluxe room. Room is spacious, clean with a sliding door small balcony allowing fresh air to enter if you wish. Good bed. Service was professional and friendly. A fee surprises though, there are no bed lamps apart from spots in the ceiling, so if one wants to read in the evening the other person if wishing to sleep has to cover the eyes. Never seen this before. There is complementary tea but the water boiler is big and the bathroom sink very small so you cannot fill it unless you use a glas of water in between. In short very bery good hotel but wonder if management ever tried it out since a few aspects are curiously impracticle.
