Parkview On Hagley

We spent a night here recently with x3 kids , King size bed, double spa and adjoining room. Double doors to access second room were annoying, but understandable. lift access. parking onsite. Small balcony which appealed to the children.

We had a very comfortable night here with connecting rooms so the 2 families could come and go. Very nice rooms and very quiet. I guess that's because we faced the car park, but it didn't matter for one night. The bathroom was nice too. Heaps of parking. Very obliging people.

For anyone who lived in Christchurch prior to the late 1990s, this hotel is located where the old Nancy's Pub used to be - a notorious student pub. For anyone else, the hotel is right on a very busy intersection, and although the roundabout has been replaced with traffic lights, it is still busy. A lot of the rooms face on to the road, which gives you a bit of a view, but makes it quite noisy at night, especially when the hoons come out. Traffic noise aside, my room was clean and comfortable and very spacious. I turned the aircon on to provide a bit of white noise and I was tired enough to sleep in spite of the noise outside. (Although I did get woken briefly at about 4am by a rather loud, drunk woman in the corridor...) If you don't mind a bit of noise, I would definitely recommend it for its comfort and cleanliness. I really liked that they use refillable toiletry dispensers in the bathrooms instead of those ridiculous little bottles that just end up in landfill.

The room was nice, clean, but the bed was average. Saying on a Saturday night facing the park and right next to the road, we didn't get much sleep till the boy racers had stopped around 3am. The Thai restaurant down stairs was rally good and cheaper if taking away!

We chose the Parkview as the rooms looked large and well equipped. They didn't disappoint. They have to be one of the largest standard rooms we've come across, and together with the very well equipped and large bathrooms (which includes both a spa bath and seperate shower) - it represents great value for money. Check in was easy enough - we were arriving after hours but had made arrangements to pick up the key outside reception. Likewise checkout was extremely fast and efficient. The hotel also has a thai restuarant and bar out front - so easy enough to get something to eat and drink late at night (and the food was delicious). About the only point to note was the road noise. The hotel is on a major intersecton with road works nearby - so large diesel vehicles right outside. In addition, its on a bus route - so more large diesel vehicles. Suffice to say if youre in a road facing room (even numbers) you won't be sleeping in during peak hour on a work day! Aside from that though - great value for money.

We stayed two nights in a large well equipped room on the second floor. There is a lift or stairs for easy access and good onsite car parking. The room had a comfortable king size bed, basic tea making facilities and a microwave, Sky TV and a spa bath, vanity toilet and shower in the bathroom. Everything was nice and clean. The room was serviced after the first night and after we had left, reception called us as the cleaners had found an article which they thought we might have left behind. As it happens it wasn't ours but that showed the honesty of cleaning staff to hand the article in to management.

We stayed here twice, going and coming from NZ. Both times we had a large, very comfortable room with a great bed for resting up from jet lag. There was ample parking in the garage behind, and lots of stores within an easy walk. Its only disadvantage is that the receptionist is often away from the desk, as the rooms are all on a higher floor. Still, service was very good. Laundry room was an added bonus.

A very helpful receptionist the tone for my two day stay. The room was comfortable (the bed especially so), spacious and had a superb view to Hagley Park. The location was convenient and parking was plentiful.

Very comfortable stay at Parkview. Our room was large, modern, clean and comfortable. The bed was large & comfortable. The location is wonderful, a short walk to the park and to the botanical gardens. Reception staff very helpful.

Great Location in Christchurch, being so handy to town and the Mall. Looking out onto the park is also so relaxing. Rooms are really clean, spacious and modern and its convenient having the Running Bull Bar and Restaurant below.
