Parkview On Hagley4.0 out of 5.0

On arrival the man at reception was least bothered to be warm and welcoming. However, the rooms are big and spacious. Very clean. Has a little kitchenette. Wifi drops in and out. However, other than that , a very good price.
Room was very spacious and housekeeping service excellent, handy location with 24/7 store and various restaurants nearby. Located opposite Hagley park on busy intersection. No surprise that there was a lot of road noise from local hoons. Shame the room isn’t more soundproof but we had read reviews so knew this could be an issue. Would stay again if we needed to be in that location.
We stayed for two nights on arrival in Christchurch. Very straight froward to get to from airport. Room had everything we wanted. We stayed again the last two nights of our trip also and were given a beautiful suite with spa bath. Plenty of food outlets just around corner about 50 metres away. Liz and Courtney in reception were a pleasure to deal with.
Stayed here for a business trip for one night and can't wait to leave. The shower was not functional, a dribble at best. There was no privacy as my room looked straight onto the carpark. The best thing about this hotel is the location.
Across from Hagley park makes this location better than most, but at the cost of main street road noise, which is tolerable for an evening. Parkview rooms were clean, roomy with a well stocked kitchenette and the bathroom exceeded our exceptions to include a jacuzzi type bathtub. We had a corner room allowing for south and west views of the park, which is beautiful. There is plenty of parking for the hotel. There are numerous places to eat and drink within walking distance. The room was spotless and inviting. We were very happy to stay here and would recommend it to anyone.
We stayed three nights on our trip to NZ from Australia. Our travel agent had booked us into this hotel. The room was excellent, very spacious, really comfy bed, lovely views over the park, nice spa bath. Even though it was on a busy road and our room was facing the road, the room was really quiet. It also had a toaster and crockery etc to cook breakfast. There was also an excellent Thai Restaurant next door and other nice restaurants within easy walking distance. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
We spent a night here recently with x3 kids , King size bed, double spa and adjoining room. Double doors to access second room were annoying, but understandable. lift access. parking onsite. Small balcony which appealed to the children.
We had a very comfortable night here with connecting rooms so the 2 families could come and go. Very nice rooms and very quiet. I guess that's because we faced the car park, but it didn't matter for one night. The bathroom was nice too. Heaps of parking. Very obliging people.
For anyone who lived in Christchurch prior to the late 1990s, this hotel is located where the old Nancy's Pub used to be - a notorious student pub. For anyone else, the hotel is right on a very busy intersection, and although the roundabout has been replaced with traffic lights, it is still busy. A lot of the rooms face on to the road, which gives you a bit of a view, but makes it quite noisy at night, especially when the hoons come out. Traffic noise aside, my room was clean and comfortable and very spacious. I turned the aircon on to provide a bit of white noise and I was tired enough to sleep in spite of the noise outside. (Although I did get woken briefly at about 4am by a rather loud, drunk woman in the corridor...) If you don't mind a bit of noise, I would definitely recommend it for its comfort and cleanliness. I really liked that they use refillable toiletry dispensers in the bathrooms instead of those ridiculous little bottles that just end up in landfill.
The room was nice, clean, but the bed was average. Saying on a Saturday night facing the park and right next to the road, we didn't get much sleep till the boy racers had stopped around 3am. The Thai restaurant down stairs was rally good and cheaper if taking away!
