Argyle On The Park3.0 out of 5.0

Owner was extremly friendly. Bathroom/shower was rather small, but overall it was a decent motel.
We had a clean quiet suite with all the amenities we needed, like a fridge and a microwave. The cost was about what a single room in a basic motel would be, so it was very good value for the money. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They do take their checkout time quite seriously, so be prepared to leave then!
The managers of Argyle on the Park were friendly and courteous. They arranged free transport to the railway station for our Tranzalpine ride to Greymouth and back. Our room had living / dining/ kitchen, with stove top and oven, hot water pot for tea, and refrigerator, and separate bedroom, with second bed in front room. Very convenient to bus and ChChcentral. Right on west edge of Hagley Park, with good places to eat (Nando's) and broad hiking / biking trails. We received brand new leather couch and chair on second day. Very cozy and comfy.
This hotel was the perfect location and offered everything we were looking for.
We appreciated the soft beds and spaciousness of the rooms.
We had great service even before we checked in! We called for directions from outside the city, got very easy directions and found our way without difficulty. The gentleman who checked us in personally escorted us to our room. Like so many places in New Zealand we were offered a complimentary bottle of milk for our tea. I love this civilized country !!!! The room is literally across the street from the large city park and sports fields. It is a beautiful location and easy walking distance to Christchurch core and shopping. Can't wait to go back!!!
My room has a kitchen with a microwave oven, stove/oven and cooking pots, plates, etc. It also has a public washer and drier. The facility is old, but it is clean. It is nice for a family.
We stayed overnight prior to our flight out of New Zealand. The room had all the conveniences of home. The owners were very nice and accommodating and provided a lot of information about the neighbouring area and knew about all the flight cancellations for airlines as there was an eruption in Chile at the time. We enjoyed the walking distance to the restaurants and bars and the proximity to the parks.
