We stayed at the Abbey Motor Lodge for one night and had a very comfortable stay. The rooms were in the process of being updgraded so we got a goood deal. The staff were very nice, the location was great and the rooms well appointed. I would stay here again.
Nice enough. A dish washer brush would not go a miss. Renovations at the moment will have it shaped up well in no time. Happy to see a tradesman dog there too - that was probably my highlight. Good location
I think the title says it all. This place was very friendly. Everything was clean. Showers hot and spacious, electric blankets and easy to find. 5 minute walk to restaurants and shops. Free wifi. A pleasure to stay at. We'll be back next time. Thanks for your hospitality.
We spent 2 nights at Abbey Motor Lodge. It was in a good location. The apartments were still undergoing some renovation outside however this did not detract from our stay. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spotless. Kitchen and bathroom could indeed do with a facelift which I feel they are in the process of doing. Our room was quiet and it was lovely that a light and heater was left on for us as we arrived later in the evening.
We were in for one night and our experience was fine. We were in recently renovated rooms which were well appointed with modern décor. Its a small motel on a busy road which was a bit noisy especially as we had the windows open due to the warm weather. I'm sure as the cooler months draw nearer the need to open the windows will not occur. The staff were very friendly and most helpful.
Arranged to stay well in advance. On check in day we were nearly in Christchurch after a 4 hour trip and received a phone call telling us that they were doing up the motel and we were rebooked in a hotel. Why we were NOT told in advance was just not acceptable. If we hadnt been almost in ChCh we would have cancelled to another weekend Further contact with the motel expressing our concerns were ignored apart from being told the hotel was more expensive which didnt help us at all. The hotel was poor for a variety of reasons & made worse by being woken at 7.0 am both mornings by tour groups outside our room for about an hour. Our weekend was spoiled and we returned home early
Me and my dad stayed for a few nights. We had a large room with 2 bedrooms. Rooms were modern and well fitted out with nice furniture with good beds and a nice sized Tv, not to far away from the city centre. Rooms were clean and staff were fantastic and friendly. The place was undergoing some maintenance while we stayed this wasn't a problem as it didn't disturb us. Only main issue was the busy road. The traffic didn't really stop most hours of the day. At night you could hear the traffic noise through the closed window which was abit of a shame but this can't really be helpt in a big city. Would stay here again when we are next in the area
I booked 2 rooms for my family 1 single room for my mum and a double room for my sister her partner and 2 children for my wedding I rang to ask how many beds were in the double room I was told 2 single and a double so I got a second room for my mum n asked fr a porter cot for my 1 year old niece my mum was upgraded to the double room next to my sister's even thow when they arrived there were 3 single beds and a double in there room so the extra room for my mum I was told I'd need and paid 345 for wasn't even needed. The elements on the oven in room 16 on left hand side didn't work the shower was broken and leaking into the downstairs room so they couldn't use the shower till the second day of there stay then it was fixed. Toilet paper holder broke on contact no oven trays in oven to cook with. Dvd player was offered and told dvds were avaliable but there were none and when we asked manager about the issues we were told we were the first in the rooms since they were updated and there would be a few issues. My family was offered to move to smaller rooms on the Friday night but as they were out at my wedding all saturday and checked out early sunday morning they wernt happy to downgrade rooms to smaller ones and disrupt the children over all the manager was lovley and friendly but for what we paid the accommodation was far from ok and falling apart. We were not offered a discount and I felt for $764 it should have been way better my family arnt people to complain but I was very unhappy as I paid for there accommodation and felt ripped off
Good experience. Stayed for a night on 31th December with my family. Clean and quiet. Very friendly staff. Spacious for 4 people. Not that modern but I don't mind at all. Got everything you need for breakfast and cooking dinner. (not sure whether there was oven but no needed)
I had a good experience here, having stayed for four nights. My unit was quiet and very clean, with modern furnishings and a new shower. The doors on two of the kitchen cupboards didn't close properly—but otherwise everything, including the free Wi-Fi, was excellent. I was surprised to read of others' bad experiences here.
