Somewhat expected appearance for a tourist hotel, but this one pulls-it-off. Quiet and away from the main street the noise of the town is escaped and you can kick of your break. Rooms are clean & comfortable (twin beds) and television with free wifi included. Shower/wc is ample but towels are rather rudimentary. Reception area is typical but comfortable with birdsong and sunshine free. Swimming pool is clean and ideal for passing an hour or two before lunch. Breakfast is passable, buffet style. Not tried the other menus. Wifi is hit and miss (despite ample connection points), so if addicted or dependent on internet services - caution is advised. Bike hire etc... all available via a pleasant receptionist. Recommend for a few days R&R.
It's like a nice retreat in the gardens although pretty near to the city. Rooms are a little dated but the surroundings made up for it. Brekkie is pretty good spread and enjoyed the ample parking space!
Laluna was more than I expected, bearing in mind it has a 3 star rating. From the first moment that we were greeted at Reception to the time that we said Goodbye 5 days later we were delighted with the whole experience. Reception was warm and efficient, our room was large, clean and quite, with a huge king size plus bed; the en suite was well supplied and a large shower area (hot water took a while to arrive first thing in the morning). The pool was delightful, large, clean and with plenty of padded lounges scattered around. Breakfast was plentiful, with all tastes catered for - American, English and Asian. A bar and dining room was also on site. The whole area of the Resort is set in luxuriant tropical flora making it a very pleasant stay.
Rooms are ok, bed comfy. They charge extra for everything. Breakfast is the obligatory leftovers from the night before. Most patronage is from large tour groups. Many other better chiices in Chiang Rai.
We're currently staying here and just booked an extra 2 nights. The setting is gorgeous and tranquil. Our room is large, comfortable and a few steps from the large pool. Breakfast is like a banquet with pretty much anything you could possibly want. There are always helpful staff on hand to help some any problems. The only thing that happened to us was the tv remote stopped working, hardly a disaster and promptly fixed. The hotel is a little out of town, a good 20 minute walk or a 60 bhat tuk tuk ride, but a worthwhile trade off for the peace and quiet it offers. The only negative is the cost to eat in the restaurant, which others have noted. The prices are out of step and there are better value options within walking distance and of course there's always the street food. Alot seem to be closed on a Monday so worth bearing in mind. Overall highly recommended and we would come back in an instant.
Very nice environment, quiet, with pool at the back and loads of beautiful vegetation. Rooms are large, and have a nice front porch with benches to sit out. Word of warning, they offer two room rates online, but actually every room is the same bungalow, so just choose the best rate.
The reception of the hotel is very nice. No problems checking in, on being taken to our room we were given a twin bedded room even though I had requested a double bed. I was then told that it would cost me an extra £3 a night for the change of room. Not a good start. New room was perfect. Bathroom was excellent. Even choice of TV programmes was good, The only annoying factor in my stay was having to keep logging on to Wi-fi every time I returned to hotel. Can you please get that sorted. The breakfast was excellent, the chef on hand to make your eggs any way you wanted them. No problem recommending this hotel to anyone. Enjoy.
We usually go for higher end hotels but decided to give this place as chance as we were trying to take a cheaper break this time around. Stayed in the garden king, huge great big bed, nice clean bathroom, nicer than the photos. Can't see the pool view would be worth the extra $20 a night. Pool is great, lots of loungers with nice comfy sun loungers. No staff around so bring your own drinks. Breakfast pretty decent and a nice selection, most would be happy I think. My only complaint is the restaurant on Site. The food and drink prices are extortionate. Went over to the Méridien one night and even that was loads cheaper. It's not a particularly nice looking place so no idea why they would charge over double all similar restaurants do. A similar place down the street called Tong something had delicious food at half the price or is only 60 in a tuktuk into town. Every time we walked past the place was completely empty. If the prices had been better we would have probably eaten lunch or dinner there at least a few times. Clearly they need to reconsider their business model.
First time we have stayed here. We where very impressed with the hotel, it's set in lovely grounds and the rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is spot on and caters for all nationalities. However, a word of warning be careful eating in the restaurant of an evening. We found hair in our food and didn't receive an apology, even after numerous requests to meet management. I think they should have had the courtesy to speak to me face to face. If this post generates an apology it is not good enough and it's too late
What an absolutely beautiful hotel, so peaceful and quiet. Gorgeous setting with its lush vegetation surroundings. Really friendly and attentive staff. Excellent pool & facilities. The comfiest bed EVER! The breakfast buffet is really good value and a nice fresh selection. The location is around a 15 minute walk to the town centre (Clock Tower) tuk tuk will cost you around 50/100THB - if you’re needing a taxi to the airport I’d ask the hotel to call you a metered taxi or use Grab, as their airport taxi service is a rather extortionate 500THB, compared with 150/180THB using the Yellow/red metered service. All in all though a very beautiful place and one that I would really recommend. Chiang Rai is stunning and we will definitely be back 👍
