We had the pleasure of staying at the Katiliya mountain resort in November of 2017 for 3 days of our honeymoon Thailand adventure. We were greeted with a warm welcome by the staff whom remembered our names every meeting there the first. Golf carts with a driver are available to take you to the room which was immaculate with a breathtaking view of the mountains and landscape. My wife and I treated ourselves to three wonderful massages on site feeing very relaxed listening to the natural sounds of the rainforest outside. The restaurant was amazing again with a stunning view offering a wide variety of drinks and food fairly priced. The complimentary continental breakfast was yet another thing to write home about. This is a very relaxing resort away from the town and night life if that is what you are looking for. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly love to revisit this location. Excursions to the golden triangle, Laos and nearby mountain villages are available, just ask the front desk.
We very much enjoyed our room at the Katiliya Mountain Resort and Spa (#331), which was quite spacious and comfortable and had a balcony with a nice view of the valley below. Katiliya is located well outside of Chiang Rai and the approach to it is over dirt and rutted roads, so we ate here as well since we didn't want to go out again once we arrived back at the hotel. While dinner and lunch were not great, they were OK and very convenient. Breakfast, however, had a good variety and almost anything any palate might want. We very much enjoyed sleeping in a cooler climate with the sliding doors open (and screen doors closed). TThe bathroom was huge with double sinks, bit tub as well as a large shower, and a separate room for the toilet. The room itself was comfortable and furniture adequate, but it could benefit from an interior designer with a good eye (e.g., the blackout drapes, while effective, could have come from a Walmart and did not really go with the solid wood furniture; and nothing about it felt Thai). Our room was quite far from the reception area, but the staff graciously took us back and forth in a golf cart, so we only had to walk up and down the hill we we wanted to. Like many Thai hotels, there were only two English language TV stations - CNN and one that played old series and bad movies - and the wifi/internet was spotty.
We stayed only one night, wish it could have been more, the room was huge and luxurious, the food excellent and the staff charming. But as if thats not enough, to wake up above the trees in the clouds is simply wonderful.
Stayed recently at the Katiliya Resort. Happy we had google maps as its not very clearly indicated from the main road. Hotel has an amazing location in the mountains and lots of greenery around. We had dinner in the hotel both nights we stayed and food is lovely. We tried both Thai and Western food. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment the first day, none of the food heaters were lit so the food was stone cold. We asked the waiters to heat our plates in the microwaves and they turned them on after we said something. But by that time everything was cold. Its a shame the resort seemed a bit empty when we stayed, seems a bit left behind. Rooms are very spacious although they could do with some up-keeping in terms of Windows’s , and a bit more warm decoration could make this place really 5* as its missing the luxury feel of a five star resort, decoration is rather basic. All in all a 4* Resort from my view.
Wonderful mountain resort. We stay in katiliya suite (rm 304) and then upgraded to next higher graded suite (rm 111) to be next to the pool. both have fantastic views of the mountains. Breakfast was very good. Dinner is ok, as the menu is a little limited. We hired a very good Toyota Vios from Chiang mai (Chiang mai wheels) at 950Baht/day for 5 days. You need a car to move around. My wife and myself were there during the deepavali week. Katiliaya is not difficult to locate nor the surrounding places of interest, if you turned on google map.
What an amazing place. As you approach the hotel looks draw dropping.Very easy to find. The reception area is the finest I have ever seen.Very friendly and professional check in.took a golf cart to our villa, they are available any time of the day but we mostly walked to and fro from activities and dinning. The villa was huge with a very spacious balcony equipped with two sun loungers and table and chairs.everywhere was spotless and the huge bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was also huge with a great bath and separate shower.Every bathroom requirements were supplied and first class quality. We used both pool and hot jaquisy so relaxing.Breakfast had a good offer of western and Thai choices.I think the dinner of could offer a wider choice of western dishes. All the staff were amazing and knowledgeable we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return
We are spending 13 days in Thailand and the best stay has been by far at Katiliya Mountain Resort & Spa. The views from the room/Bed are amazing. The staff are the kindest and most helpful I have ever encountered. Without anyone saying anything, the staff surprised my wife with a birthday cake on her birthday. Our driver that took us to so many great places was the best. He sure knows his way around. Thanks for so much Katiliya!
After spending to much time in Bangkok we found our way to Katiliya resort. We were greeted by a friendly and professional staff. Our rooms were massive and every window and french door afforded us a grand mountain view.On our walk around the property, the walkways were perfectly landscaped with blooming orchids, plumeria, and blooms of every color. The food and cocktails served at the restaurant were as amazing. I highly recommend everyone to visit for a few nights!
We can't recommend this beautiful resort and spa enough. The best meals, massage, rooms are private and bed so comfortable. Everything there is so quiet and private. You wouldn't know there are as many rooms as there are there. Absolute tranquility at this resort. And the staff and owners are so welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be staying there again, as we believe it to be the best for a quiet, romantic getaway. Nothing is too much trouble.
Choose to stay in suite room on the high floor to get the real panorama view. The room is spacious and fully equipped. Big bathtub in the bathroom. Better to spend morning at the balcony, and afternoon by the pool. Food in the restaurant is also good quality and great taste.
