The best experience in Thailand! Very peaceful, relaxing and friendly staff. Meeting elephants in the hotel is something very special, you can feed the baby elephant when she comes to the restaurant in the morning. You can visit the camp to touch the elephants, friendly staff with great knowledge will educate you if you have any questions. Such an amazing memorable experience I had! I want to come back with my parents.
This is a great facility and even better staff. The staff at Anantara GT was the best part, from guest services to dining room wait staff to the exec. chef, everyone went out of their way to make my family comfortable and welcomes. Food was great, and we really liked the inclusiveness of the package. The elephant activities were mixed. Walking with Giants was great and very informative, while the elephant learning experience was less. Cooking class was the best part! I highly recommend this place. The only issue was the distance and number of stairs to get to and from our room which was difficult with my disability. It was a great visit to the area and we hope we can return some day.
Set in the heart of the jungle, friendly staff and wonderful facilities adds to the overall elephant experience. A once in a lifetime trip. Definitely recommend the hop over to Myanmar and the river trip.
This is a super place to stay in an awesome setting, but the staff make a great stay into an excellent one. They really do go out of their way to make sure you have the best stay possible. We really enjoyed our stay here and I would recommend this as a must do if you can.
I came here for a family trip, and had the best time of my life!!! During breakfast elephants come down to visit you, and the food is great! The hotel is amazing, air conditioned, and with a great view! It had a big balcony and a big spacious bathroom. This is DEFINITELY a place worth visiting!!
If you want a unique Family experience this is the place for you. Our family trip was on of the.most memorable ever. Do miss the three country tour, eye opening to say the least. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian. Service and food were amazing.
We love everything about this hotel. Since our arrival, this hotel and their services kept us in awe. Picked up from the Chiangrai Airport using limousine van, during check in they have prepared our itinerary for the next 3 days. After they know we will depart on the 4th day early morning, they kindly re-arrange the schedule so we can fully enjoy our very short trip to Golden Triangle area. The room was superb. Even located in the middle of the forest, don't worry because they do mosquitoes fogging every afternoon so rooms and facilities are 99% mosquitoes free. After discussion, we took the "Mahout Experience" and it was the best choice ever. My 6.5 years old daughter and 63 years old father enjoyed the activities so much. They learn so many new things about elephant and its really fun. We also took "Golden Triangle Excursion 3 country program", where we able to do short visit to Myanmar and Laos. Very exciting. Highlight of the stay is the hotel itself. Rooms are perfect and very comfortable, breakfast are great, and while staying there please try their Thai food and Italian food restaurant at Baan Dhalia. Highly recommended. The waitress at Baan Dhalia name Tommy even gave my daughter a surprise on our last night of stay. He gave us a Sky Lantern, have us make a wish before we release it to the sky. Overall it was an AMAZING trip and hopefully one day we'll be back to this property again.
Expensive but all inclusive.. All you need to do is sleep, wake up and eat.. all activities already plan and schedule by the hotel. This is not circus activities, all elephants are treated very well.. you will not smell like in circus or zoo
Hard to fault. We took the inclusive package and enjoyed full menu, bar and activities every day. It really was inclusive and no bill shock. The walking with elephants and riding elephants activities were very well put together, right down to the blue clothes left in your room the night before to wear. Also felt safe even for our 7yo they were very careful. Loved the cooking course, including local market tour, and eating our cooking for lunch. Speedboat racing on the Mekong was also fun with our young kids. Family room was a decent size and we were rarely in it. Plugs are US. Pool is great, views are incredible and staff could not be more helpful. Good range of Thai and western food in the main restaurant and decent Italian in the seperate Italian restaurant. Suggest you book activities ahead. Resort is about 1hr easy drive from Chiang Rai airport and Anantara provided transfers on our inclusive deal. I Never felt tipping was necessary but was appreciated when we did tip for activities and drivers.
This place allows visitors to interact with elephant in a ethical way. We wanted to visit a place that allows an ethical way to interact with elephants, but did not want to stay in a conservation elephant camp (did not want to do the sleeping bags in tent on this visit, especially in Thailand with its mosquitoes). We chose Anantara over Four Seasons (much less expensive, better elephant activities - they actually have the same or similar programs as Four Seasons and uses the same camp, I was told). This place is amazing. I would recommend the VIP Regal Arrival if the weather is good as you will travel along the Mekong River in a small "long-tailed" speedboat. If it gets windy or if it rains, you will get soaked. The pleasant 20 minutes ride from the dock to the hotel lobby is wonderful. For most of us, 20 minutes on the elephant is plenty of time. I strongly recommend the Golden Triangle Package as all the food (3 meals a day), activities (all elephants and most spa package), and transfers are included. Shop smartly as Anantara runs specials throughout the year with deep discount if you join the loyalty program. Even better, we were able to purchase their Gift Cards with another 10-20% discount which you can use on top of their specials. It comes to a great deal of savings if you keep an eye on the different specials available. We really enjoyed the elephant camp activities. We did the walking with giants - a gentle stroll with the baby elephants accompanied by a veterinarian assistant who was very educational regarding the elephant activities. Their other activities involved even more interaction with the elephants, including a 2 hr trek in the jungle bareback, etc. Their spa services were phenomenal and I had the best Thai massage here. The food was outstanding with an excellent choice of Thai and Western dishes. As an example of how good the service was, my daughter is lactose-intolerant so the chef decided to bake some pastries especially just for her for breakfast without any milk product. They easily accommodated our requests for vegetarian dishes (by now, we were tired of all the seafood and meat). All the dishes were marvelous. The suite was excellent; however, as in most high-end hotels in Thailand, there is not much privacy. The sinks, toilet, shower, and bath tubs are all in one room with very little separation, meaning if your kids share one room, they will not like it. Lastly, service was excellent. No complaints. Come here for the elephant interaction. There are two baby elephants currently in camp, so now is a good time to visit before they get older. Plenty of time to spend with them, including feeding, bathing, walking, and yes, pictures with them. They do discourage riding on the saddle here unless you are very young, older, or have some disability. I did ask the Mahout about the saddle riding and what he said was that if you weight more than 100 kg, you should probably go bareback. Fortunately, they alternate the elephants giving rides so that each elephant does not give more than one ride every few days. Nevertheless, they recommend bareback unless you are one of the category noted above, which, I am glad. Lastly, they do contribute to the care and well-being of elephants. This is a conservatory and we did witness all the good they have done. We are very glad we came here as we left feeling good that part of our hotel stay went to the caring of these previously abused animals. To feel even better, there are other conservation agencies with link to this hotel that you can look into to contribute and help out. Bottom line, yes, I recommend this place very highly and our kids felt this was the high light of their vacation.
