The room was clean and comfortable. We only needed a place to sleep comfortably and we managed to do so. The location of the hotel is superb as the night plaza / markets are within 5 minutes walking distance. The day market is just 12 minutes away, if you choose to walk. The staff were friendly and cheerful. The breakfast was reasonable but needs a bit of variety. Having almost the same things for 2 or 3 days is ok. However if you stay for 6 days, like us, it becomes a bit unappetising after some time. At least change the eggs to omelette once in a while. We had the sukiyaki buffet, which is value for the price of 179 baht. However, we had the misfortune of coming for dinner after a group of overseas students who took a lot of the buffet items but did not consume them. it was rather a waste and also less share for us, as the refill was not as forthcoming at we would have liked. For the price that we paid for the room, I suppose, it is overall ok.
I had A deluxe room that was big. Older room but clean and comfortable. Had to play with the hot water, went in and out. Wifi not the great 1.5 mbps download, regular internet slow, forget about streaming. Breakfast was good. Staff very good.
Location, location, location! Everything was conveniently close. Staff were helpful and courteous. Bed was comfortable, sheets and towels were clean. Then the biggest disappointment for me was the bathroom. The shower did not work. If I managed to get water through the shower head, there was no pressure at all. The shower curtain was black at the bottom seam. We were greeted with black water our first morning. It took a long time to clear up.
You pay for what you get. The staff is nice and helpful. The lobby looks much nicer and modern compared to the rest of the hotel. One of the windows in our room was covered up with something along the lines of painted plexiglass. The wifi router is located in the hall so the signal is weaker the further away you go from your room door.
Stayed at 2 different room. First was nice, clean carpet, repainted wall. But 2nd was not as nice with old dirty carpet, cigarette smell, but with a slight wider bathroom. Towel was clean & smell nice perfume. Doesn't provide toothbrush & toothpaste, which is kinda inconvenience for guest. The room's lighting is too dim, would prefer if it's in white light, or at least additional light at the sofa area. Breakfast included, average choices, mostly the same everyday. Rice, noodles, rice porridge, mix vege, sausage, ham, egg, mix salad, bun & bread, cornflakes, coffee, tea, hot milk, orange juice, mix fruit juice...Tho it's ok, but I'd suggest to have more local food, e.g. 'noodle soup' as additional choices. Also tried their 'Steamboat Buffet'. Too less food choices. Pork slice, fish slice, choices of fish balls, cuttlefish, crabstick, wanton, 2 choices of noodles, a plate of vegetables & mushroom. Soup is clear soup & tom yam. Would be good if with more seafood choices, e.g. shells, prawn, squid,... Location: just steps away from Pantip Plaza (Big-C Market, open till midnight)'s back entrance which will closed after 10:30pm+, afterwhich have to use the front entrance. WiFi is strong.
Your front desk counter staff are friendly and helpful. Room air con was not functioning well on the day of check in. Your engineering side managed to address this problem immediately upon our complaint to the front desk.
If you need to have a Rest and Relaxation holiday in Chiang Mai and want to remain near the Night Market, this is the place to be. Very comfortable but not luxurious arrangements and I think it is totally worth it at the price. Your night market is right next door so are your Hard Rock Cafe and your other big restaurants and Pubs. Enjoy to the hilt. They have a very good travel desk too, who will give you all information. Lovely breakfast spread too. Only bit of advice to the hotel reception.. Please smile a lot more to make us tourists feel at home. 😊
My father, brother and I stayed at the Star Hotel Chiang Mai in August, each having seperate rooms. The rooms were basic. The internet was hit and miss, the TV reception was ordinary, construction standards were below expectations (electrical and bathroom) and the 'hot' buffet breakfast was anything but 'hot'. But it was still an okay place to stay, close to facilities and very helpful staff.
This is a very nice hotel, though a bit worn in places and the photos hide that fact. However, since we're only in the room to shower and sleep, who cares? It was clean, had a nice breakfast, and the staff was very nice and helpful. Plus, the cost per room (we had two) was excellent! It more than met our needs.
We stayed there on our first night before heading up north. The price was decent and amenities were basic but sufficient! We were a 7min walk to the night market shopping district and close to many restaurants as well. You can walk to the river in about 15 min too. I had left a scarf at the hotel and only noticed two days later that I did. I emailed to ask and to my surprise they kept it. We stayed there again the night before we flew home.
