Ping Nakara Boutique Hotel & Spa

We recently spent 6 nights at the Ping Nakara. Our stay was faultless. It was our first visit to Chiang Mai so we were tossing up between staying within the boundaries of the Old City or somewhere just out of that precinct, like the Ping Nakara. We are very glad to have chosen the PN. It is within a 5 minute walk to the Saturday walking street markets, 10 or so minutes to the Night Bazaar and probably about 20 minutes walk to the Old City. If you don't feel like walking, the tuk tuk drivers in Chiang Mai offer a very reasonably priced and efficient transport service. Unlike Bangkok, the drivers here stick to their prices, don't try to talk you in to going somewhere else and are easily found. Our room at the hotel was a haven. We were on the third floor with plenty of room, it was quiet and our balcony looked on to a row of bamboo and trees. It was very private and felt like we were anywhere other than the second biggest city in Thailand. The hotel has an historical past, has very good breakfast options and if you want to have an evening meal here the food is excellent and reasonably priced. The stand out at this hotel are the staff. Each and everyone were approachable, efficient, friendly and eager to please. They contributed enormously to the pleasure of our stay in a really enjoyable destination.

Stayed at the Ping Nakara 15-18 November. What a gem of a place. A colonial style building in a great location in Chiangmai. The whole experience was first class enhanced by the amazing staff who where polite, courteous and helpful at all times. Good accommodation and food. A really wonderful breakfast experience. The whole atmosphere was relaxing with barely a noise from the outside world. At the rear of the hotel was the Nakara Jardin a wonderful place to have lunch at the riverside. Just a few minutes up the road was the River Market restaurant, serving fine Asian food in a good riverside location. The hotel is also ideally located for the eateries at the night market and also the night bazaar. All in all a wonderful stay

This hotel is something special. When we first arrived we were impressed with the beautiful facade and the interior was even better. The rooms are all dark wood and light draping. We would definitely stay here again if visiting chiang mai. Positives: - the building is ridiculously pretty. - the swimming pool is huge and beautiful. - the rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. - the veranda is a lovely place to sit and drinking water is provided. - although very slightly out of the centre the night time food markets and attractions were all an easy tuk tuk ride away. Negatives: - service at breakfast could be quite slow - when it did come however it was always great. - although the swimming pool is lovely it was pretty cold during our stay and seemed to attract a lot of mosquitos. - the hotel is a hotel & spa, I didn't visit the spa during our stay so can't speak for it's quality but the prices were astronomical. As I say I didn't go so it may have been worth it but given the preponderance of excellent affordable spas in the area it was disappointing. You expect an uplift for being in a hotel but this was extreme.

My sister and I️ just spent two nights at this hotel for an all too brief stop in Chiang Mai on our Thailand vacation. This hotel is such a gem! It’s very small but beautifully quaint, exceptionally clean, with extremely welcoming and attentive staff. Rooms are spacious yet feel cozy, and have excellent A/C. The hotel is walking distance to several restaurants, massage parlors, and the Chiang Mai night market. Tuk Tuks are inexpensive and easy to access for travels a little further away (eg Old Town/Walking Streets). The staff are more than happy to help with restaurant reservations, arranging an airport taxi, etc. The sweetest gesture was their preparation of a breakfast “to go” for my sister and me when we had to catch a 4:30am taxi to the airport after check out! We were blown away by their kindness. We did not have time to take advantage of the spa but we did enjoy a couple of hours at the beautiful pool. Would highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed here for 3 nights, would have loved to stay longer. The hotel is a well maintained colonial boutique hotel, with lovely rooms and a tranquil pool and restaurant area. Very well located, near the Ping river and a 20 minute walk or short tuk tuk to the old town. Also lots of bars and restaurants even closer. The hotel also has a good restaurant. Mix of al a carte and buffet for breakfast and good selection of Thai and Western food for other meals. We also did a spa treatment and afternoon tea by the pool, excellent massage and lovely spa area. I would recommend staying here if you plan to spend some time at the hotel relaxing - it would have been a shame to be out and about the whole time!

An area of tranquility in busy Chiang-mai, yet within a short walk of the night markets and the River Ping is metres away, as is a great french style cafe the Nakara Terrace. Staff are exceptionally good even though there a a few who struggle with English. The rooms are quiet and well appointed. Intimate small pool-side dining area serving adequate breakfasts and dinners.

Only had one night at this hotel but if we return to Chiang Mai in the future we will certainly base ourselves here! Free treats in the room, the great library with loads of books to suite all tastes and the free video collection made this hotel stand out. Our room was very nice and the pool/grounds were lovely. As for the staff - they were always smiling, nothing was too much trouble and we actually felt that they enjoyed welcoming guests.

We fell upon this place as we were in the area and decided to have dinner. It was a bit of a scramble as I think the hotel did not expect to have guests for dinner, but we were showed to a nice table by the pool and given menus. Menu was disappointing as we wanted to have som tam but were told that they don't make it (really?). We ordered other Thai dishes but weren't expecting much if I am being quite honest. How wrong were we! Every dish served to us was absolutely amazing. Good portion, flavourful, just was an unexpected surprise. My only regret was that I did not have time to come back and eat here but I will surely be back on my next Chiang Mai trip.

We stayed for 4 nights at the Ping Nakara and it was very quiet with a beautiful infinity pool, delightful breakfast with made to order items and spacious bedroom with complimentary refrigerator & local snacks. Happy hour (2 for 1) during the early evening & they offered us rides to nearby restaurants in the evening. Also included was airport pick up & ride leaving. We also worked with travel company they recorded for a guide for a few days. Everyone couldn't have been more pleasant & wanting to make our stay delightful.
