Staff is extremely cooperative and professional. Special mention Mr Balakrushna, Mr Irfan,Miss Chandni, Mr Mishra & the entire team at the hotel for their passion and professionalism. Big kudos to the entire team...
I booked ginger without checking any reviews, and that was a mistake. So the location of the hotel is not good, and is very hard to find. Starting with rooms, they are very small, not well maintained, bathrooms are alright, but still more is expected. The biggest turnoff was in my room there was no window!! So it was always dark. The buffet is served on the corridor, but the spread is alright, but food got over by 9, and refill was very slow. Room service is alright. In between all this i would like to say, staff is good and friendly, but in the overall view, its poor!!
Rooms are not maintained properly. Old curtains, bed frames.. Mosquito trouble, had a pretty disturbed sleep because of these . Only reason that you should book this is if you have some work in IIT Madras research park. This is in the same building . There is an OK'ish and affordable food court in the research park .. I would say the hotel would do well if they invest a bit and maintain this property well due to proximity to the IITM Research park and couple of other IT parks
This is good and impressive hotel. A hotel members and staff as well as supporting staff are too helpful. A really thank you to night shift in-charge Mr. Jitu for his help as well as the other staff. Over all it was great experience to be here in ginger hotel.
Walkable distance from IIT,though accessibility from the main city is a bit difficult, well connected by cabs special thanks to jitu night shift person who helped me alot during any problem surely i will visit once again
Absolutely horrible stay. I can't even tell you how bad it was. There were several issues with the management. Almost all the staff were immature and novice. They aren't even trained at all. I am not at all personally condemning any person at all. All the helpers are individually very sober and very polite. But they haven't been trained at all. I personally feel it isn't a lacuna on the personnel's part but rather on the management part. They have no person to look over or rather check their competency. Yes I'm fully aware of Ginger's policy of being a self help hotel. But that doesn't let them be so indifferent towards the guests that even after explaining so many times they don't clean the room. In my stay of 3.5 days, yes they did clean my room after I obviously told them to but not my washroom. And they never once changed my sheets. Never. Let me give you a small anecdote of what happened on the first night I reached there. My flight got delayed. I had obviously pre informed them about the same. It is very obvious that when you know a person's flight has been delayed you explain to him/her that the hotel only hosts a restaurant which is open till 10 30 in the night. I wasn't obviously informed about this. So when I landed and immediately called them from the aircraft even before getting off they told him at 10 59 that their restaurant was closed and I won't get food. Later on after being rude because I was hungry duh they told me they can order for me from swiggy. Anyway I get to the hotel and tell them to get me idli. They ask me only idli? I tell them obviously with sambar and chutni because who eats only idli? They got me 12 idlis. I have no idea why? Why would anyone or rather who could eat 12 idlis of normal size? They even didn't get me plates till I had to ask them for the same again. This is one of the many problems I faced there. It is absolutely not possible to tell you everything obviously. Moreover another thing. The AC is set at 25.4 and YOU CANNOT CHANGE IT! You cannot. This was just stupid. I called them so many times. So so many. They told me it can't be done. *Facepalm* So for 3 days I was there in a room. With a constant AC. Even if I felt cold I just had to deal with it. Lastly this place is NOT ACCESSIBLE. No autos or olas will agree to take you. They only way to reach here is if you get a prepaid taxi from the airport. I had to haggle with the rickshaw people or rather beg them to take me places. Not accessible at all. And when I had to get to the airport after a long long stay. I couldn't get an Ola. 3 of them cancelled and I reached almost at the last minute. Please oh please don't stay here. For your own good. Don't. And if you do stay make sure you have your own conveyance. Lastly I would stress on the fact that the personnel consists of very very polite and extremely helpful people who aren't trained at all.
This is a good compact hotel for folks who are visiting around IIT Madras or Tedel park for business purpose. A low frills hotel which is easily accessible from the business areas around. A major concern is that there are no general stores around this hotel in case of emmergency
Stayed in south facing room from Jan 12 to13,2018.Good spacious room, good view.Excellent assistance and service by Chetan,Jitu and Mishra and others.Walkable distance from IIT,though accessibility from the main city is a bit difficult, well connected by cabs.Had a very good stay Haridas
Budget hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Top location for IT staff coming in the IITM Research park or Tidel park area Good food options to order in the hotel room from the restaurant and also on the breakfast menu,
I had the pleasure of staying in Ginger Chennai IITM for 3 days. This is the biggest bang for the buck in South Chennai near the IT corridor. Since, it was a personal trip for me, I did look at airbnb. However, I had doubts about security, people I stay with etc. Since this hotel chain is owned by the TATAs, I did not look any further. There is security at the entrance of the premises as well as the hotel entrance. You can request for safe deposit boxes or lockers for your passports and travel documents. I wanted to give a huge shout out to staff here. Chandini and Erfan at the reception were affable, polite and went out of their way to help me. Check-in/check-out was a breeze. Food is awesome if you like Indian food. Gopal and crew did a great job including delivering food to your rooms. I will definitely recommend this hotel. A few things to remember. Hotel is only on the 11th floor of the building and not the entire building. It is inside IITM's research park. If you hail an Uber, tell them you are near the Kanagam gate.
