Fly to Whangarei
When you fly to Whangarei, New Zealand, you'll find that the country's northernmost city along the Tutukaka coast is a truly relaxing and enjoyable place to visit. Mount Parahaki is the highest point in the city, and on its summit, you'll find visible excavations remaining from Maori Pa, a former fortified city that was located there. Sea kayaking is a popular activity, as is hiking along the Bream Head Coast's walking trails.
Attractions
Rising above the city is Mount Manaia. A hike up the mountain affords wonderful views of Whangarei Harbor and the sea. Many visitors also enjoy heading to the quayside center, where there are many eateries and entertainment venues. For excellent diving, you can head on a charter to Poor Knights Islands and see its terrific variety of marine life.
