Montreal flights bring you into the second largest French-speaking city in all of Canada, and one of the most visited in all of North America.

Flights to Montreal

Although there are 2 International airports in the city, all commercial passenger flights to Montreal arrive into Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Exceptionally busy, Pierre Elliott Trudeau serves over 100 destinations worldwide and is home to the largest duty-free shop anywhere in North America. It is located approximately 12 miles from downtown Montreal. Transfers from Montreal flights can be made from Dorval train station, where a 20-minute journey delivers you into the heart of the action. Pick up a free shuttle that runs twice hourly to take you from Trudeau to Dorval. The number 747 bus runs all day every day if you prefer your Montreal flights to take you to the city's central bus station area.

Montreal Weather

Throughout the summer months, the city is always hot and humid, with temperatures consistently above 85F. The ideal time to take your flight to Montreal would be September, when the crowds are less, the atmosphere is more comfortable, and there are plenty of low cost air tickets for those looking for a cheap getaway to a quality destination. By November it is much cooler, winters are always cold and often snowy, with temperatures regularly below freezing. Wrap up warm and you can appreciate the snow-covered beauty of the city throughout much of the season.

Getting Around Montreal

Montreal is a safe and easy city to get around. You will be impressed by the different opportunities available to travel about. Public transport is excellent with the Societe de Transport de Montreal - otherwise known as the bus system – which serves about 200 routes daily. There is also an extensive underground network with 4 lines and 68 stations connecting the whole city. The stations themselves are worthy of a visit, if only to admire the amazing artwork featured at each. Most taxi drivers can speak both French and English, and don't be alarmed if they never take a right on a red light - they can't, it's against the law!

Montreal Attractions

During flights to Montreal the one attraction most people discuss is Mount Royal Park. This large green space is part of Mount Royal - a 3-peaked hill right in the center of Montreal and from where the city takes its name. The Museum of Fine Arts and the Botanical Gardens are also very popular sights that shouldn't be missed. Additional attractions include:

  • A guided cruise up the St. Lawrence River for a history lesson in wonderful surroundings
  • The stunning stained glass of Notre Dame Basilica – make sure you have your camera
  • The amazing Montreal Underground City complex – virtually a 2nd city beneath your feet
  • A horse-drawn carriage ride over the cobbled streets of Old Montreal
  • White-water rafting over the exhilarating Lachine Rapids – an absolute must do activity
