Staff and facilities were excellent - friendly and helpful. The location at the top of Victoria Street places you in the area of excellent shops, near the upper end of the Royal Mile (near the Castle and St. Giles Cathedral, etc.). We dined in the restaurant on the first floor and the food and service (Carlos was our server) were both very good. Heated floors in our room was a lovely touch. My only criticism was that our King Balcony room was on the 2nd floor and the street noise over the weekend nights was VERY loud - we barely slept and were awoken over and over by people walking past, shouting and laughing. The balcony was directly across from Kickass Hostel Edinburgh and Kickass Bar - so the street was filled with people. I would absolutely stay here again, but would only book a room on the higher floors. (Weekday nights would likely have been a different and quieter environment, and there was a big rugby match on Saturday evening that contributed to the street noise, so your experience may vary).
