Great location on the habour with an easy walk to to the town centre. Rooms are clean and comfortable but just like most French rooms, not the biggest. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice and availability.

I stayed here after a 2 week trip in France & Spain on our last night before heading back to the UK (please let point out here I stayed in a few different hotels during our trip including another Mercure in Bordeaux which was great & I have left positive feedback for that stay) We had a lovely evening in La Rochelle & the hotel is in a fantastic location - the receptionist was very polite (he was the only member of staff we encountered during our stay as we checked out early morning to get back on the road). We went to bed with no Bites on us (except for a couple of mosquito bites on my right foot from Spain) at all & woke up with my Back, Shoulders, Backs of Legs & Arms covered in tiny bites (very itchy). I contacted Mercure (accor hotels group) to inform them of this happening with the room number etc to prevent this happening to anyone else. I have not heard anything back from them to date since 18th June (3 weeks today) which I find personally shocking, not even an acknowledgement of the issue or that they have inspected the room to make sure other guests are not effected by this issue. I refrained from writing this as I wanted to give the company a chance to act as I have stayed in quite a few Mercure Hotels & like them but after this experience I will not be returning.

Great location and views over the old port, we had a stopover in La Rochelle and this hotel was a great choice. Easy to find and free parking, excellent air conditioning and a pleasant breakfast on the balcony overlooking the port.

It is a modern attractive building in a very good location. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We didn't use the restaurant but it looked smart and probably had the best view from the building. Unfortunately our room (438) was very small and we had to take turns to move around the room and the wardrobe door wouldn't open completely as it couldn't clear the bed. The view from our room through a smallish window was miserable. it provided a view of some industrial buildings, the railway line, a car park and some apartment buildings. in my opinion it is over priced for this accommodation and although it has the amenities it doesn't feel like a 4 star hotel.

Everything was fine at this hotel, which is near the centre of La Rochelle, until we got to breakfast, where they seemed to be disorganised and unable to keep the various supplies of food adequately replenished. There appeared to be little or no management of the breakfast process. Which is strange, because, when the food was there, it was fine. Also, we had dinner there on two evenings during our stay, and that was really good, and the service was excellent

I stayed here with my brother for 4 days. The hotel is fantastically positioned overlooking one of the marinas The staff are very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. I stayed in one of the standard rooms which some would say were on the small side but they were clean and tidy with comfortable beds. I chose this room as you had the option of a walk in shower and as I have mobility problems it suited me more than perhaps one of the larger rooms. The hotel has it's own car park at the back of the hotel which was very useful. There is a nice restaurant in the hotel ( we didn't eat here other than breakfast) but is also within walking of many restaurants overlooking the marinas. Breakfast was a good buffet with an excellent choice. I would certainly recommend this hotel and if we returned to La Rochelle would certainly stay again.

Modern hotel with fantastic access to the old city. Refreshingly light meals available in the restaurant, which has a wonderful view to the marina. Air conditioning works! Excellent bed and facilities - 'privilege' rooms are worth the extra.

Well equipped room - you get what you expect with Mercure. Good dinners, but there is no separation between groups (can be very noisy) and 'ordinary' hotel guests. Helpful staff. Excellent breakfasts. A pleasant place to stay. A lot of noise from returning revellers who chose to dine elsewhere.

Location is 5 minute walk from train station, Masq or San Nicolas Hotels, or from old harbor. Awesome local Rochelais menu. $$$$ but definitely worth the menu, service and top notch view of La Rochelle harbor. Quiet and perfect as business or romantic setting. Sea food dish particularly authentic. Suggest dinner for sunset and dusk view and ambience.

The Mercure is modern, clean and has what you want for a few days in La Rochelle. The rooms are small - they reminded us of cruise ship cabins, with efficient use of the very limited space - but adequate. The ventilation is fierce and can't be turned down. Breakfast has a typically French limited choice and many Brits/Americans will not find what they're used to. I would rate it as three star. There are lovely views over the harbour from some rooms.
