The building is charming and the quality of the room was good but the budget hotel complex on the same plot was confusing as many dog walkers from the budget hotel roamed the grounds freely. The pool was disappointing and looked cloudy during our stay. Dinner was ok but the restaurant lacked ambiance and the service was mediocre.
Beautiful setting, extremely helpful staff and a spa tub in the room complete with robes and slippers! Was a great surprise to arrive and get more than we expected, thank you Hotel Chateau...it was our pleasure to visit!
We reserved a room at the Hotel du Chateau for an overnight stay on an 11-day road trip through central France. We arrived later than expected and had to leave earlier than we wanted. Even though the (excellent) restaurant at the hotel was technically closing, due to the time of the night, they welcomed us with minutes to spare and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. It is a beautiful hotel in a historic chateau. We had a wonderful and quiet night's rest, ready to head out again the next morning - wishing only that we had not scheduled so tightly and that we could have spent a little more time taking advantages of the hotels wonderful amenities.
The approach to the hotel promised quality and tranquility. The very professional and charming staff made certain that this promise was fulfilled. The piscine offered further relief from the heat - a return stay is likely.
We booked two rooms for two nights. The hotel building is charming and indeed a renovated Chateau. The rooms are very modern and clean etc…. The hotel facilities did not live up to our expectations and are very basic, the pool and Spa area are very basic and the indoor pool is underground and very small. The restaurant did serve excellent food but choice is limited and the bar only bar area is also very basic with limited opening times. I would use this as business hotel if travelling alone but not a place for families or a couple wanting extended facilities.
Just a little story about this place where I stayed for one single night. I was driving from Orléans to La Rochelle Lagord and running late, I called them at 9pm asking if I could count on them to prepare me something to eat to avoid me having to stop on the motorway and eat terrible food and get more delayed. I got this wonderful receptionist who talked to the kitchen staff and transferred me they arranged a little dish club sandwich with a little desert. I arrived greeted by the delightful receptionist, the food was prepared in my bedroom waiting for me with a great bowl of custom made chips. It was heaven to have people so responsive. I also noted the little touches like a personalised welcome card etc. the bedrooms are superbly comfortable and the breakfast is plentiful. The staff were all extremely helpful and this is no luck, there is clearly a management team who is extremely focused on client satisfaction and the thing is: IT BLOODY WORKS TOO.
We stayed here on our way to Mont St Michel, good location to stop at on the way up the coast. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Would recommend, especially if you are driving.
We booked 5 months in advance, 2 rooms for my 86 yr old mother in law and my husband and I. We requested a quiet, ground floor room with a shower as my mother in law is unable to manage stairs or a bath. We ended up with Rooms 1 & 2 beside the restaurant which was noisy. Room 1 was the smallest and noisiest-oddly it still is the same price as the other rooms but is smaller and closest to the noise. The television in this room did not function properly which the technician noted one of the 4 days we were there but nothing was done about it. I asked the front desk the next day and they said they would send someone within 10 mins but no one came. When asked how our stay was on departure, we mentioned these items to be met with a very rude: you should have asked to be moved! The chateau hotel is lovely but lacking some basics such as a lounge area to have a cup of tea/glass of wine outside of restaurant hours (it was locked 2 of 4 days) and we were informed there was no room service available. Not really a 4 star unfortunately.....
This Chateau is really only a hotel. Pleasant enough but not the spa and dining experience that we had expected. The restaurant is ok but with a limited menu. Breakfast is a bit hit and miss - especially if more than ten people are trying to serve themselves at the same time. They ran out of meats, plates, bread and egg cups!! The rooms are quirky - ours had the bath in the actual bedroom and no shower. But hey, it was a Jacuzzi! May have had all the parts but did not all work! When I reported this to the reception that the lower bubbles worked but not the side jets she replied that I was lucky to have any of it working!!! Complimentary water stopped after one days stay of a three night booking! Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Internet died on last day and we are still waiting for our copy of the bill to arrive by email. Would not stay again. Oh, and they let dogs stay and go into the eating areas! Nothing against dogs but not in a restaurant please!
Facade is that of a beautiful chateau but this the photos belie the interior of a relatively cheap business hotel with the level of staffing and maintenance to go with it. Location is poor and although the hotel has a nice garden this is very poorly maintained with dirty unkempt furniture
