The hotel is right on the main square (Otakar II), so location couldn't be better. Breakfast buffet was pricey but good. No A/C in my room, but a large window that opens made up for it, as the temperature was mild. The only negative was the reception staff. Of the six hotels I used in my Czechia trip, only at Zvon did I experience coldness and an air of annoyance or condescension. I felt like my patronage was considered an inconvenience.

Good: This was my second stay at the hotel. I appreciated the view this time, and the room size was comfortable. Staff: Generally helpful, but could be more responsive. I requested an iron and ironing board but only received the iron—and had to go downstairs to get it myself. Breakfast: Nice variety and good options available. Location: Conveniently located near the train station, in a historic area with a large open square. Concern: One night, a group of bikers rode through the area, making loud noises and causing some disturbance. It was the first time I felt concerned for my safety during my time in the Czech Republic.

Historical stay

All in all the hotel is unique! They have many rooms hidden in the back, some can get lost with the floors and stairs, but once you know your way it is fine. The location is great, in the heart if the square. Restaurant has the services that one would want and the breakfast selection was complete. Replenishment was also quick and frequent. Overall, a very nice experience! Parking is the only negative, but they do advise you at the front desk, so your options are clear.

A Stay Straight Out of a Time Capsule

If you’ve ever wanted to experience the charm of a bygone era, Grand Hotel Zvon is the place for you! Located right on the stunning main square of České Budějovice, the location is truly chef’s kiss. But step inside, and you might wonder if you’ve accidentally entered a period drama—just without the fancy costumes or dramatic plot twists. Check-in and check-out were smooth, though don’t expect any grand welcomes (unless you count being handed a key card with quiet efficiency). The furniture has a certain “vintage” appeal—whether intentionally or because it simply hasn’t been updated in a while, I’ll leave to your imagination. Breakfast was… there. Not bad, not amazing, just existing in its own perfectly average way. But hey, for the price, it’s a solid deal. If you’re after a central location and don’t mind décor that whispers “remember the good old days?”, Grand Hotel Zvon is a great choice. Just don’t expect a grand anything beyond the name.

Fantastic place to stay

First class experience all around. Was able to check in early and the front desk, restaurant and housekeeping were friendly and helpful. On day of departure I left early and the even packed a breakfast to eat on the train back to Prague. An extra bonus - Christmas market was right outside during my entire stay. I would highly recommend!!
