This is, hands down, one of the «warmest» hotel experiences we have had. Very friendly/polite staff and especially helpful. This is a relatively small luxury boutique hotel at an excellent location in Thessaloniki. In a hotel review one has to attempt to balance price/amenities/staff attitudes/cleanliness etc. The room was very comfortable with a very nice tivoli radio and was sparkling clean as the maids visited twice daily. Also a very nice veranda for the ones who are staying on a high floor. The only downside was that the bathroom door which was semitransparent at best did not allow for too much privacy. Other than that an outstanding experience. From Eva at reservations who considered our requests and improved on them on this first visit to all the staff at breakfast where, although the buffet was rather limited, one could order specific hot plates out of a menu and the staff were more than willing to also accommodate for some special requests. Additionally, Artemis and the rest of the staff at the front desk and Demetris with his continuous pleasantness and willingness to assist tried their very best to make us feel welcome. This is definitely a hotel I’ll recommend to my family and friends.
What a magnificent property! The hotel is located in a historical building in the centre of Thessaloniki, that was gorgeously rebuilt. I was upgraded to a Deluxe Room, facing the main street with a small balcony. The room is not that big but the interior design is fabulous and makes it feel bigger than it actually is. The wooden floor and the marbled bathroom are really nice. The amenities are truly high end. The hotel location is perfect for a three days stay in the city as it close to the main attractions (you can walk virtuality anywhere) and in the close vicinity of the port and the sea, where the bars and restaurants are located. The breakfast room is lovely: it is located on the roof top, with plants everywhere and a small terrace with views over the city that makes it perfect for a relaxed morning coffee. The staff is very attentive and professional, although very discreet on their jobs. Perfect! The hotel does have a small bistro on the ground floor that caters daily special along with burgers, salads and pastas. I had very nice meals there. The staff, here, is also very professional and pleasant and very knowledgeable of the Greek wines! Overall, a very very nice experience that I wouldn't mind repeating, also because Thessaloniki revealed itself to be a very pleasant city for a break.
Perfect location - minutes from all types of shopping, rooms with all modern amenities, a fantastic full breakfast included on their beautiful rooftop dining room and a super friendly and attentive staff! And all at a very reasonable price. More value for your money indeed!
Good choice if you are interested in shopping, site seeing, and going out in the evening. Nice helpful people, great breakfast in the rooftop restaurant. Very good quality of towels, robes etc. We enjoyed our stay!
The hotel is centrally located and very close to an area full of restaurants, which mainly serve local greek food. The hotel was very clean, the staff extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast had a great variety of food (fruits, breads, pastries, eggs, bacon, yoghurt, ham&cheese, juice, coffee, etc.) and tasted delicious. The beds were very comfy and the room must have had extra isolation, no noise came through (the hotel is located on a street with steady traffic). All in all, a really enjoyable stay, I would come back any time! :-)
Good location. Contemporary amenities. Great breakfast. Staffs at reception were warm and professional. However experience a moment of embarrassment that while changing clothes at the room, the housekeeping person went straight into the room after just knocking the door less than 5 seconds. Understand they were so eager to impress by bringing in the welcome chocolate, but that was poorly executed. Ruined my first day at Thessaloniki.
We spent two nights at the Excelsior. The room was very cute and exactly what you would expect from a boutique hotel. The staff were very friendly and always helped out when we had questions. We had a room with a balcony on the street. It can get noisy at times but your in the middle of the city so it not unusual. The breakfast is nice, but doesn't have a large variety as some other 5 star hotels. The restaurant that's attached to the hotel is amazing! Definitely worth a visit! Overall we enjoyed our time at the Excelsior.
Here is a review of my recent experience at this hotel. To avoid controversy, I'll let the pictures do the talking. Service is unfortunately on par with the pictures. There is also a problem with the plumbing: hot and cold water alternating randomly. My initial review was removed although I always keep a civilized tone of voice. Hopefully this one will not be shot down because this is the purpose of this website - presenting and respecting different points of view.
We stayed the Excelsior for about 4 nights during our time in Thessaloniki. It is located in an excellent location and right in the central square of the city which means you are within very close walking distance of all that you may need. The rooms were beautiful and well appointed with modern fit outs. We found that the room and bathroom were very modern, refreshing and overall very clean. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great and it was presented in a very nice roof top seating area. The service we received from the staff was also to a high standard. If you are after a clean, modern hotel in Thessaloniki I would highly recommend the Excelsior. The only set back is that there is no large outdoor area to sit in which would have been good.
At the end of our holidays in Chalchidiki we spent a night in Thessaloniki and Excelsior couldn't have been a better choice. Staff kindness and efficiency, room comfort and little plus, great bed, fantastic breakfast on a lovely roof terrace. Just perfect
