Room was nice, large size. Parking is limited to first come first served and is a little tight. Rooms were large and clean. Lobby area has strong cigarette smell due to outside smoking, but open doors, windows which allow it to come back in. Restaurant/pub is great! Some of the best lasagne I've had, other food great. Staff very friendly and provided assistance and suggestions. Would definitely stay here again, or even just pop in for a drink and dinner.
I stayed in the main castle on the third floor. The room was breathtaking for the view, as well as its grand size and elegant furnishings. I had kind servers at breakfast who even brought me a newspaper as an unexpected courtesy...food was delicious, too. I explored the Cooley Peninsula, one of the two suggested outings described in the hotel's brochure in my room. What a great way to spend the day, Carlingford was a delightful village. I also recommend the trails in the nearby Dun a Ri National Forest. The hotel staff will provide parking tips. There are a lot of stairs in the main building so if access is a concern be sure to talk to the staff about choosing the best location for your situation.
Pretty good deal for the money. The room was clean and of a decent size. If I was in the area I would definitely stay here again. The bar and food were nice and convenient.
We spent one night in Trim Castle Hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel staff was very efficient and friendly. The castle is across the street with a nice walking trail to enjoy.
