Great experience ...
Loved the fresh cut flowers everywhere inside the castle. Did not care for all the up & down stairs. Room numbers were confusing. Very easy to get lost.
Staying in a castle was unique experience. Beautiful grounds. Interesting interior. Option of a formal dinner or a barroom casual dinner. We chose a casual dinner in enjoyed the food.
Very unique experience staying in a castle. The property was huge and had a serene feel to it.
Beautiful grounds/rooms!!! Outstanding food! Only problem was wait staff that evening. Husband had to get up 3 times before we were able to order.
I stayed in the main castle on the third floor. The room was breathtaking for the view, as well as its grand size and elegant furnishings. I had kind servers at breakfast who even brought me a newspaper as an unexpected courtesy...food was delicious, too. I explored the Cooley Peninsula, one of the two suggested outings described in the hotel's brochure in my room. What a great way to spend the day, Carlingford was a delightful village. I also recommend the trails in the nearby Dun a Ri National Forest. The hotel staff will provide parking tips. There are a lot of stairs in the main building so if access is a concern be sure to talk to the staff about choosing the best location for your situation.
Decided to stay in a castle in Ireland for my birthday. Very good choice. The price was very reasonable, especially considering the included breakfast. The room was nice and the grounds were lovely. The restaurant was good and the staff were friendly. Although they said wifi was only available in the main part of the castle, I managed to connect in my room. The only downside is that there's not a lot to do there or near there.
We only stayed one night after two nights in Dublin and two nights in Tullamore, but it was a perfect way to end a great Ireland trip. We had a great tasting dinner but too much food in their restaraunt. Our room was very spacious, so we spent more time in our room enjoying the room. We were there in winter so it did take time for the room to warm up. The castle dog was huge but very friendly. It slept the entire time we were there, very cute. It was a great stay and we did not have any ghost experiences.
