Exceptional service

The stay was exactly what wexneeded but the experience was made soecial by the kindness and help of the owners when our car broke down. Not only did they get our car fixed, but they also gave me a lift to my hospital appointment - without my asking.

Place did not match description. WiFi was poor, bed very uncomfortable. No room darkening shades, lots of mosquitos because no screens.

Excellent location and very clean hotel

My daughter and I, enjoyed this hotel very much. It is just a few minutes walk from train station. We were served very nice breakfast by the owner of the hotel everyday and our room was cleaned daily. There are very good resturants nearby. We recommend this hotel to the tourists who would like to explore Grotte Castellana.

A somewhat odd refuge

The hotel, or B and B, seems somewhat under-attended. We did arrive early, and no one was on site. On the credit side, following a telephone call, staff arived and we were able to check-in early, conversing in French. The person at check-in was amiable. The rooms were tidy, but dank-smelling and no natural light, because of no windows. Security questionable. One of our party had a stranger enter her locked room. Apparantly he was another confused guest. The breakfast was very good. But the breakfast room was cold, and each of our two mornings, it opened late, 20 minutes or so. Generally, staff were not on site most of the time. i have the impression of a part-time and non-professional operation.

Room for improvement

Arrived to check in around 3pm and no one was there. Had to wait outside the gates for about 30 minutes before someone showed up. The room itself was pretty big- stayed in the Marilyn room which accommodates 6+ people. The queen bed was so uncomfortable we moved the 2 twin mattresses on top of the bed to make it better. The bathroom is not as described and the shower leaked water all over the floor...no extra towels to clean up the excess water. This place has potential but needs some work. Not close by restaurants or shops so a car is necessary.

I was expecting a "pay for what you get" hotel when I booked online, but was pleasantly surprised at the hotels high qualtity when I arrived. It's a very small hotel. Maybe 6-8 rooms. We were the properties only guests. Still, they catered to us very well and even set the table every morning for us for breakfast. Staff was very informative about local things to do and provided discounts. The property is very secure, with secure partking within a walled compound. There is even a friendly yet intimidating guard dog. The room felt fresh and brand new. The building and property is well manicured. It's a 5 minute walk to the cave and a plethora of restaurants, or a 15 minute drive to the beach. Highly recommended!

great potential, a few teething troubles

the villas are behind a large security gate so very safe. rooms themselves were very clean and well equipped. very nice bathroom, comfy beds (2 sgle, 1 bunkbed), TV, a/c, wardrobe. kitchenette was separate. this was well-made with proper gas hob (no oven or microwave) butvery little cooking equipment beyond basic crockery/cutlery and minimal pots+pans. we locked ourselves out by accident as friend shut bedrm door with key left on bed! that was an accident just waiting to happen, given the design. Kitchen area had big table and 4 chairs but no sofas so hard to relax as bunk bed area was 2 dark to read in and so only 2 people able to lounge on their bed. breakfast is served in a large shed, comfy/warm. juice, tea/coffee fine. no bread available, just croissants/biscottes. crazy dog tied up in car park. park at a distance. town centre is well hidden-took us 2 days to locate it.

Tutto ok

Cercavamo una sistemazione per due notti con occasione di visitare le Grotte... Confrontando le proposte, questa ci è sembrata buona tra qualità , posizione e prezzo. Arrivati non abbiamo cambiato idea.. parcheggio privato con cancello automatico... ambiente pulito... prese per cellulari, luce per leggere a letto, frigorifero, televisione, divanetto sul quale appoggiare due valigie, asciugamani cambio giornaliero , colazione servita in un ambiente vicino... torta, cornetto, yogurt, succo, cappuccio, frutta, caffè . Condizionatore che abbiamo utilizzato per scaldare ambiente visto il tempo... Bagno con finestrino ... Tutto molto semplice ma con tutto ciò che è indispensabile perchè chi è in viaggio .

Gestore scorretto

Ho prenotato per i miei colleghi 2 alloggi per un totale di 4 ospiti . Il gestore ( host ) della struttura ha incassato l'intero importo del soggiorno ma poi ha fatto il furbetto cancellando le prenotazioni in modo da non pagare le provvigioni a hotels.com e di conseguenza mi ha contattato hotel.com dicendomi che non ci eravamo presentati alla struttura e in virtù di ciò mi ha cancellato le 2 notti che avevo accumulato come socio hotels rewards. Questo è un comportamento scorretto è disonesto da parte del gestore .

Sicuramente migliorabile

Poche le note positive che, per correttezza, vanno subito indicate. Tra queste la colazione, abbondante e buona, e la posizione a circa 500 metri dalle Grotte, raggiungibile a piedi. Tra quelle discutibili l'accoglienza: non che ci aspettassimo una festa con fuochi d'artificio ma almeno un pizzico di cordialità, qualità che non manca nel popolo pugliese. Stanza minimale, discretamente accogliente. Pulizia non accurata e decisamente migliorabile. Ultima cosa... le zanzare... tante (ma questo non può essere colpa del proprietario anche se un repellente elettrico avrebbe reso le notti più tranquille).
