First time visiting Carlsbad. Our stay surpassed our expectations- the service, amenities, and overall ”guest” experience was great. A beautiful family-friendly community in Carlsbad Village. Staff were courteous, parking was great, and check-in/out was fast and easy. The food at Norte Mexican restaurant was tasty and loved that it’s located inside the hotel. The local shops and restaurants that are around just minutes away walking distance were a plus. Loved walking to the beach and seeing it’s natural beauty. Would love to come back one day.

Really cool place just needs paint in the rooms and bathrooms and needs the floors replaced they are in bad repair and really old. Very clean though and the grounds are really cool very walkable to everything!

Gosh where to start… Friday afternoon there was no parking in the garage and we had to park illegally in a handicapped spot till we found something on our 3rd attempt. Since we got there a little early our room wasn’t ready which is no biggie we figured we’d go to the pool but the activity center refused to give us towels until we made a big stink about it. On Saturday we planned to head to the pool once getting back from our outing only to learn it was closed due to a contamination. So again, no big deal, things happen. So we decided to head to the fire pits to hang out and watch the sunset, only to learn 2 of the 3 fire pits were out of order. That night the smoke detecters went off from the steam from the bathroom, again no big deal but it happened again the next night! The final straw was on Sunday when security checked everyone’s wrist bands at the pool and the party to the right of us willingly admitted they are not guest, they live local and their friends who work there hook them up with a wrist bands?!?! There are other issues such as expired elevator permits, ac units that don’t look like they’ve been cleaned and honestly I could go on. I talked 3 other families into coming here because we had a 5 start experience the year before. I’m disappointed in the overall stay. I informed management and asked for 35% off my total bill and I don’t think I should have to pay the resort fees. The assistant manager agreed to the 35% off so let’s see if they follow through.
