Parkway Hotel & Spa4.0 out of 5.0

My friend and I went to the Parkway for a Sunday evening meal. While the food was nice the service was dreadful. We waited 20 mins before we were allowed to go to the carvery as the staff appear to have forgotten about us. We requested water 3 times for the table as again staff appeared to forget our requests. The couple opposite us complained as well about waiting for their drinks and another couple left having announced their frustration about the wait. Another couple complained about their pudding. When we went to pay the bill we waited for 15 mins before anyone came. I appreciate it was busy but customer service was awful. The young staff appeared lost and disinterested and made little connection with the customers. Lack of leadership and interaction very evident.
Room clean and comfortable. The room was just being cleaned as we arrived so we met the that's keeping team and they were lovely. We didn't sleep to good NOT fault of the hotel it was the other guests. Breakfast was very good. Plenty of parking.
Just have to give a big shout out to the two fantastic bar staff who were so efficient and friendly when we visited last month: thank you for your hospitality Jessica Nash and Bee Cheng!!!! See you again very soon! Dave
We booked the Crystal Suite to hold our first Dolls House and Miniature Fair in this hotel, on the 17 September 2017 and it was superb. The staff were very helpful and so nice, nothing was too much trouble. The Duty Managers Garth, Becky and Ben and the girls on reception were all great, everything went off without a hitch and many of the customers (and traders) attending said how lovely the place was. We look forward to coming back to them again next year, for another successful show.
Visited with my wife, parents and uncle as my wife, mother and uncle have birthdays close together and the location is convenient and well known with us all having had many meals here in the past so know the standards are usually very good. We had drinks on arrival in the lounge and perused the menu with all of us choosing the carvery and 4 out of 5 having 3 courses. The lounge is spacious and charmingly old fashioned with deep leather chesterfields, a working fireplace and a courtyard full of flowers to look out on. The restaurant has been slightly refreshed over the years but is still light, airy and feels special enough for special occasions. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and gave generally very good if not excellent service. I like that with the carvery you are served and your plate is taken to the table for you rather than the que up and free for all and that the pace of the meal is unhurried so giving that languid quality that a good Sunday Lunch should have. The wine - Pinot noir - was excellent also. My only slight niggles were the beef was too well done for my liking so a little dry but was still very tender and the flavour excellent so didn't really detract too much and I got an overcooked to burned parsnip that I couldn't cut but to be honest having eaten the rest of my meal not being able to finish one parsnip didn't really bother me. Overall a very satisfying Sunday Lunch in great company.
Stayed for 10 days at this hotel and it was a lovely stay. The food in the lounge and in ravellos is excellent especially the home made soup. Used the pool and spa facilities daily and staff are lovely. We stayed in the junior suite which is very spacious and extremely clean.
My first visit here and it was a very welcoming place. Large lounge with bar and bar food facilities as well as coffee shop. I used the spa in the afternoon and found it odd that I had to give my room card in at reception in exchange for a card to gain access to the spa. Spa was free to use for hotel residents of course. The spa was very nice and clean and well kept with all the usual facilities but surprise, there was a coffee shop there too. A nice touch. The room was very clean and a comfortable bed for a good night sleep. Breakfast was well presented with anything I could wish for and more. Plenty of staff in the dining room from the opening at 07.00 AM. Check in and out was very easy which is always a plus. All in all a very nice stay.
The hotel is clean and comfortable. The food is unpretentious but good value for money.. The big disappointment is the spa/pool. Facilities are generally good but the changing rooms have no ventilation so impossible to get dry, as humidity is 100% Members there tell me that they have been complaining for years but the management ignore any complaints
We checked in here not expecting much as the pics on the Internet were not flattering especially the bathroom pictures. We thought we would look at the rooms in person and move on to our next choice if we did not like it. The rooms looked okay but the suite caught our eye and decided on one of those. Right away we were blown away with the care and attention paid by the staff. This continued when we ate in the lounge room and the new resident alicia sang beautifully all night. We were so impressed with everything that we extended our stay an extra night. All staff were a credit, the rooms were quiet and beds are comfortable. Food is also lovely. Gareth and Jess were especially a standout amongst quite possibly the best hotel staff we have had the pleasure of staying with anywhere. Their pride in both their workplace and Wales was a genuine pleasure to experience and the advice and help was wonderful. Thank you.
The hotel was very clean, well staffed and the staff were also very keen to help. The pool and spa area were very good, the pool was 30 degrees and the hotub and steam rooms were also of a clean nature. The only issue we had was that there were 2 wedding parties and they were very loud at 2am!
