So Many Stairs To Get To The Room Anyone With Mobility problems Do Not Stay Here.. They share the reception facility at Sandringham hotel so went There For The Key More Steps to get Inside Only Good Thing About Its In The Centre Of Cardiff
I and my brother stopped at this hotel on Wednesday 14th June to go to the motor point arena to see Mrs Brown. Cardiff is a wonderful city with terrific history and sights. Having read past reviews I entered with an open mind. Booking in at the Sandringham is no hardship as it is only 50 yards from the ML, the receptionist was friendly and courteous, and I can understand the £20 refundable deposit for the key and entry fob. We stopped in room 5 on the 3rd floor which from the entrance to the room door was 66 stairs, both my brother and I found this quite a struggle ( we are both retired and nearing 70 ) but on entering the room which was at the back of the hotel airy, clean with 2 single beds shower room with toilet and handbasin 2 of each hand towels and bath towels with new shampoo and soap provided, tea and coffee making facilities, tv and fan ( which was silent when turned on ) the window was an old sash window which when opened overlooked a courtyard, this room catches the sun in the afternoon so the fan and open window were required. The beds were clean and comfortable each having a bedside table and light, we both slept well in this silent room even with the window open. There is plenty of room in the wardrobe for hanging clothes this also housed an iron, ironing board, spare duvet and a suitcase bench. The following morning we had a sumptuous breakfast at the Sandringham again both the receptionist and restaurant staff were both pleasant and courteous. My only gripe was that after leaving the Motor Point and entering the Sandringhams jazz bar and restaurant at 10.30pm it was closing and we were unable to get a drink of any kind. All in all we were pleased with the ML and would stay their again, albeit the carpet and stairway could do with upgrading. My score out of 10 would be a 7. I have stopped in far worse hotels that are more expensive.
First of all its confusing having hotel reception in one building and then stay in another. They share the reception facility at Sandringham hotel however I stayed at ML Lodge which was across the street. I was under the impression that hotel provides parking, however they merely validate parking which you would be able to in the nearby NCP parking, however they do not validate the whole amount, just half of it!! Reception staff was helpful and friendly, checking in did not take long, they offer breakfast for £4 each, cant comment on the quality as we did not take up the offer. The room was on the 3rd floor so it was lots of stairs, however we did not have much luggage so it was not a big issue for us. The room size was ok, and the bed was ok-ish, towels provided. However the carpet was all soggy on the window size and the room smell of piss, left wondering all night why the carpet was wet, is it from rain or something else? The bathroom was clean, shampoo/soap provided however the shower was awful. The water either came cold or hot, the mixture tap did not work, so could not take shower, what a start of the day the following morning! I agree the price was cheap, so expectations were not massive however it seemed even with that price it was not a great value for money, so in one word 'disappointed'..
Check in is across the road and up some steep steps at the Sandringham hotel. Not great when you have any luggage. Then back across the road and up some steps, some more steps and then some more steps. Run down but clean and functional and cheap.
Stayed in room 10 quadruple room with friends for a night out and shopping!! Perfect location next to everything you could want to do!! Spacious room very comfy beds. Only fault was the shower as it was cold and not powerful enough to wash your hair of needed. Very noisy large windows facing a main road! Staff very friendly and helpful great saving on parking!!
This has got to be the worst hotel in England I've ever been too, stairs going up stairs was too small, no working elevator, the heater in the room broke, the lights were going on and off, there was knocking on the walls. All in all a bad experience.
Stayed here before after watching Wales play in the Principality and when you have had a long day you just want a nice shower and a place to sleep its perfect. The location itself is second to none and so close to everything you need in Cardiff. You may ask why 5 star well i say give these guys a break and my stay was 5 star I couldn't of asked for more, my opinion anyhow
this was one of the worst hotels i've ever been too. they gave us A room at the topfloor while we had massive suitcases. the stairs was soo small it took us over 30 minutes to get the suitcases up 9 stairs. the room floor was crooked and also the beds were very hard and the sheets were dirty. the bathroom was dirty and old. the window was not isolated. during the first night our heater broke and it was 6 degrees in our room!! we got sick and went to the loby ( which was at the other side of the street) and asked for another room but all they did was replace the heater. they wete sneaky talking about how our hotelroom was haunted and we noticed strange things during nights. the light went on and off and we heard knocking in the walls. we wanted to get out there as fast as possible.
This has got to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed at First of all was charged £10 for a key. Then went to my room Which was up 3 flights of stairs and not lift as I went there found the carpet was fried and dangerous ties from the ceiling were hanging from the off outside my room. The room itself was not to bad although had to make sure you kept the curtains shut as people staying opposite could see straight in to the room., The Final straw was when I got into bed and found when someone in the rooms nearby went to the toilet when they flushed the toilet the pipes would rattle and would make a terrible noise. The Next morning I went for breakfast had paid extra for this and found that they wanted to charge another £2 if I wanted a large breakfast instead of the small plate breakfast I received, Overall this was not good stay and will not be staying there again,
Stayed here at the beginning of January 2017. This is very well located, right in the middle of the city centre. This is both good and bad, great for walking out to the pubs and night life. Bad for the access as you need to park in the multi story round the corner and walk. The room was basic, but clean; it could do with a bit of TLC, a spot of decorating might be good. The bed linen was clean and the bed comfy. Bathroom clean but basic. Beware of the massive flights of stairs, we were on the 3rd floor, thought we might need sherpas to get to the summit. I would say good for the price, but dont expect luxury.
