Property was run down, front desk morning staff was not friendly at all and made you feel like it was putting him out to ask a question. Property needs a face lift - towels were paper thin, beds were soft and uncomfortable
Located near the beach, the price was not bad. However, the hotel is very old and needs some serious TLC inside and outside of the property.
The reason to stay here is it is surrounded by the beach and great restaurants and stores. Great location.

Each room is uniquely designed, although extremely outdated. The air conditioning did not work in the Mediterranean Room. The ceiling walls are extremely thin I could hear every footstep of those above me.
Not a standard box. Unique place in a great location. Breakfast could use improvement beyond pre-packaged pastries and cereals, but at least there was bagels.

Room large, comfortable and well appointed with. small refrigerator. Clean but lots of deferred maintenance in bath. No elevators and lots of stairs. Hot tub had been shut down. Welcome lobby with full coffee, tea service during open hours. Was a nice stay but would not return. Close to beach, about 2-3 blocks. Train whistle not a problem for us but amtrak near. several eateries near.
Hotel needs a renovation. Yes the hotel is close to beach but our room had no view at all and the window could not even be opened. Not the cute and cozy space we thought we'd be getting. Very disappointing.
Location great; hotel has seen better days. Very near trains which we're sometimes loud at night.
We have often imagined, when visiting the beach, what it is like to live in one of the houses there with the rooftop patios to relax in the evening and look out over the town and ocean. Cardiff Lodge was a taste of that and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay there! The staff, Anthony, Chris and Johnson were helpful and made us feel like we were visiting friends rather than an establishment. It is an older hotel and the need for some maintenance and upgrades is apparent, so if that would sour your experience, this may not be for you. However, if you are willing to overlook some imperfections and roll with the quirkiness of the individualized room themes, you won't forget your stay here!
Older rooms but who cares when you have a beautiful community right outside your door. Planning to remodel and when they do this will be a tough reservation to get. Loved the stay with the beach view!
Great location! Cardiff-by-the sea is a wonderful community with lots of mom and pop restaurants and shops! The beach is right across the street, a very easy walk. The Inn is very quaint and the staff was friendly! Wish the breakfast had more choices. We have stayed here twice and will go back again.

While I am on the Evening Staff, I can say we try to make everyone feel welcome and be helpful. While rustic, we do work to keep things clean and comfortable for people. We do cycle out older towels. Sorry to hear your experience was so negative.
