This property is obviously a well-loved family home, in a beautiful and culturally interesting location.
BUT (and this is a big but!) there was no means of communication whatsoever. The owners provided their phone numbers in case of a house emergency, but with no cell service in the entire valley and no wifi except at a cafe down the road, it was very uncomfortable. They did not even have a land line for 911 calls! I was there with my 80 year old mother; what if there had been a medical emergency? Heck, what if the electricity was out or the plumbing acted up or the house was ransacked when we arrived? I drove out 45 minutes to get one bar of cell service to ask the owner whether there was a land line, didn’t receive a reply until I was an hour out of town the next day.
Minor gripes: no screens on the windows so no fresh air at night with the bugs. Had to rummage through cabinets looking for a spare roll of TP. The world’s slowest coffee maker.
Clearly these are nice people who love their family home and haven’t thought through what it looks like to have a good weekend rental property. These issues are easily fixed.
