Carbondale is a long way from our normal path, but having to stay the night last, we were sure happy to find Hotel Anthracite. Very pleasant in every way.

Its a older building that looks like its been converted into a hotel. It was super nice. The court yard was very nice. I would love to stay there again if I was in the area.

It seems like this hotel is receiving updates. Our room had a renovated bathroom, the beds were very comfortable and sheets and towels were also very nice. Our room was in need of a new carpet as well as the hallway on our floor. The history of the area was embraced and displayed in the decor which we liked. The breakfast was more than we expected and staff was helpful. Fair price for what we received.
Clean. Spacious rooms nice courtyard. Beds very comfortable. Wish they had a pool to keep kids occupied. Hotel is very nice on the outside as well but in a very run down area of Carbondale. Lots of shuttered buildings and run down houses
Newer hotel with very large rooms, very well appointed, delightful staff and reasonable rates. Home run! Very much intend to stay again.
Overall the hotel is just okay. The walls are extremely thin. I could hear the conversation in the room next to me as if I was a foot away. The same goes for any conversations that take place in the hallway. My biggest issue is that I was double charged. I paid ahead of time and then upon check in they took my card for incidentals. After checking out I saw a rather large charge and called to see what it was for and they explained for the room, when I said that I had already paid their response was, “oh yes, it looks like you’re right.” I’m still waiting to see if the refund actually comes through. It’s an okay place if you absolutely need to stay in that area, but definitely not worth paying double for.

Stayed at this hotel multiple times, everything is great. Unfortunately my most recent stay there I was very upset with an issue and the employee they had working in the front was extremely rude couldn’t provide us with management when we first asked, then when we ask for her name she replied “my name is none of your concern .. etc ”. Sad to see a great establishment have a employee like this.
Walls were thin you could hear conversations from The hall way and other rooms Like that the provide large bottles of shampoo mounted to the wall no more tiny bottles of plastic to end up in the ocean
Liked undercover parking. Liked the restaurant. Friendly staff.
Property was a serious find! Clean, comfortable, and in a quaint town. Yo wont be disappointed.
